Alhamdulilah it is a blessed day of Jumuah today :). In UK we still have few hours till Magrib. I hope we can share our experience and knowledge every Friday on this thread :ia:.

Everyone who can understand their khutbah or understand a little, what did you learn? What topic was the speaker on about? What useful gem did you pick up?

And sisters if you stayed at home, maybe you listened to a lecture or learnt something new on day of Jumuah? Share :).

My Khutbah was in arabic. But I managed to pick up some things here and there. Mine was mainly about the Sahabah and to glorify Allah.

The msg of the khutba was :

If we want a change to come about in the world we have to make a positive change. It's time we take responsibility for our own actions and stop shifting the blame.

May Allah send favourable conditions for the Muslim ummah. Aameen

The msg of the khutba was :

Sadly in this day & age we find ignorant individuals who find fault in the illustrious learned ones of the past. This is a serious crime which calls for natural disasters.

The imaam then spoke briefly on the excellence of Imaam Abu Hanifa رحمة الله عليه.

May Allah bless us with the ability to accept and respect one and all. Aameen

Todays Khutba was about Islam, Iman and Ihsan. But mainly about Ihsan. They are all the 3 stages towards Allah :swt:, Ihsan is the third level.

Here's a part of the 40 Hadith of Imam Nawawi describing Ihsan:
Then he (the man) said, "Inform me about Ihsan." He (the Messenger of Allah) answered, "It is that you should serve Allah as though you could see Him, for though you cannot see Him yet (know that) He sees you." [Muslim]

Topic : Contentment of the Heart.

A slave is a king as long as he is content

A king is a slave as long as he has greed.

Jazakallah khair

:sl: Today's khutbah was about the manners(adab) of attending the Juma'ah prayers.

About how a person should do ghusl on the day of Jum'ah.

There was 5 stages of arrival as the Khatib put it and each person who came earlier would get huge rewards while those who come later would also get it but it decreases.

It goes something like

1 - Like you had sacrificed a Camel

2 - " " " " Either Sheep or Something or was it... a lamb?

3 - Cant remember same as the above

4 - Reward of sacrificing a chicken

5 - Reward of receiving just an egg

Also the khatib warned the Jamaat that those who talked while the Khutbah was going on has made their journey for the Juma'ah prayer useless(Ghiba).

Lastly, I read this before but I can confirm it now the khatib mentioned that there are angels writing down reward for those who come early to Jum'ah prayers and would close it when the Khutbah has started.

On an unrelated note, there were ants right in front of me and the brothers were forced to move to other place. Then a few people came in(at the same spot) and stood there. It was pretty cool, the didn't even flinch when the ants were crawling up their legs :X

Todays Khutba was about duas from the Qur'an and supplication in general.

One of the main ones I remember:

rabbanaghfirleewaliwaalidayyawalilmu_min-1.jpg

Rab-ba-nagh-fir lee wa li-waa-li-day-ya wa lil-Mu’-mi-nee-na Yaw-ma ya-qoo-mul-Hi-saab!

“Our Lord! Forgive me and my parents, and (all) the believers on the Day when the reckoning will be established.”

Alhamdulillah ...The Kutba today was about Forgiveness....to ask Allah for forgiveness for our sins, so that we can get blessing..

From : Khartoum Sudan

It was about the reality of this life:

ALLAH said:

[87.14] Prosperous is he who purifies himself,

[87.15] and remembers the Name of his Lord, so he prays.

[87.16] But you prefer the present life,

[87.17] but the Everlasting Life is better, and more enduring.

and people are of three:

1. One knows that the second life is better and he prepared for it, those are winners.
2. One knows that the second life is better but they didn't prepare for it and preferred this life, those have weak iman.
3. One who doesn't believe that the second life is better, and they wanted this life those are losers.

---- we were not sent to have a good life , rather to die a good death

---- are we prepared for death and ready to meet Allah ???

Sermons On Friday - Main Topic

Normally on a Friday in our Mosque, the Imam does a half hour lecture before Jummah prayer. I know this is quite normal for other Mosques too. I want brothers and sisters to participate in this thread and tell us what the main concept of their lecture was. No huge essays or paragraphs but just a jist of what was said so others can benefit. OK?

The lecture today was about pride and arrogance and how if a person was to have a tiny morsel of this in their body, they would end up going to Jahannam. So if there is someone who you know doesn't pray / do ibadah, do not think of yourself as being superior to them because that is the same as being proud and arrogant. And who knows Allah might turn the tables and they may end up getting Hidayat and become really pious whilst you may end up on the wrong path.

What were your lectures about? Please feel free to post.

Khutbah by HRM SLS, Emir of Kano:

What a touching KHUTUBAH pls read

Forwarded as received.

But it's worth a read as a Reminder

"Every human is a slave. You're either a slave of your desires or a slave of Allāh. You either live life by your rules or the rule of Allāh.

How can the heart travel to God if it's chained by its desires?

O' son of Adam! Sell this World for the hereafter and you win both, sell the hereafter for this world & you lose both. #DeenOverDunya
Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyah

Islam is not a buffet where you pick and choose what suits you. Don't obey your desires. Obey Allaah.
"Imprisoned is he, whose heart is imprisoned from Allāh. Captured is he, who is captured by his desires."

Fudayl Ibn Iyad was asked "What do you find the strangest of all things?" He said: The heart that knows Allāh, yet still disobeys Him [emoji22]

Don’t miss Salāh for the sake of people. You were born & will die alone, you’ll go to the grave alone & be questioned alone on Judgment Day

الْأَخِلَّاءُ يَوْمَئِذٍ بَعْضُهُمْ لِبَعْضٍ عَدُوٌّ إِلَّا الْمُتَّقِينَ
Close friends, on that Day, will be enemies to each other, except for the righteous and God fearing..." •[Surah Az-Zukhruf:67]

Fajr you're asleep, Zuhur you're busy, Asr you're tired, Magrib you're watching tv, Isha you're eating. You can dodge prayer, but not death.

We prepare for uncertain matters in our life like marriage etc but do we prepare for the one event that is definitely going to happen, Death.

The first thing a slave will be held to account for is Salah. If we fall short on that, then we will fall short on what's to come.

Fajr: Do not fear missing sleep. Fear a day in which there will be no sleep.”[emoji17]

Expecting Paradise whilst neglecting Prayer, is like waiting for a train to arrive at the airport. Remember to pray Dhuhr

Everyone dreams to be in Jannah, but Allahﷻ says:
لَّيْسَ بِأَمَانِيِّكُمْ
paradise is not obtained by your wishful thinking •[An-Nisa 4:123] #work hard 4 hereafter

"If you could hear the sound of the pens of the angels writing your name among those who remember Allāh, you'd die out of joy." -Ibn Al-Qayyim

This Dunya Is Not A Resting Place [emoji117]It's A Testing Place! Earn Good Deeds!

The world is a prison for the believer and a Paradise for the unbeliever". [Muslim] Your release here, sooner or later will be coming to an end.

Ibn Al-Qayyim (رحمه اللّٰه):
"He whom Allah has predestined to enter Paradise, the reasons which will cause his entrance shall spring from calamities;

He whom Allah has predestined to enter the Hellfire, the reasons which will cause his entrance shall spring from lusts”

Get used to a rough life, for luxury does not last forever. -Umar ibn Al Khattab

Do not be overly pleased by easy times. Verily, gold is tested for its purity by fire. Likewise,a righteous servant is tested by tribulations

It pains me to see born Muslims chasing the lifestyle of the disbelievers by drinking, clubbing, getting high etc.

Why do you think reverts run away from that life to the deen of Allāh. Run back to your Lord for His mercy overcomes His wrath.

How long will the person be happy with his worldly life?..Knowing that his ultimate home is the grave"

No matter how beautiful your face is, you will still be the food of worms when your buried. Set aside your arrogance & remember your grave

Every single limb & organ in your body will speak up & bear witness against every action you committed in this Dunya

مَّا يَلْفِظُ مِن قَوْلٍ إِلَّا لَدَيْهِ رَقِيبٌ عَتِيدٌ
Not a word is said except that there is a watcher by him ready to record it.” [Surah Qaf:18] This includes all that you posted.

Hijab includes the way a person walks, talks, looks and thinks. All of it should be done modestly and applies to both men and women"

My dear sisters in Islam. Cover up for the sake of Allah before its too late as today you are over the soil but tomorrow you may be under it

Yes hijab doesn't necessarily indicate your level of piety BUT it is fard (a must). So regardless of what you say, you HAVE to wear it.

I pray that the comfort of our graves exceeds the comfort of our beds. [emoji22]

We ask Allah سبحانه وتعالى to take our souls away when He's most pleased with us and make us of those who're always conscious of the Al-Gayb(unseen)

Missing juma today so the last post is upsetting... Just been told off by an attar seller so its even worse.

Look forward to today's posts.

Sermon today was the same as last week. If someone has pride or arrogance in them then they will go to hell.

Also never to judge people. Their lives might change and you may end up coming a cropper.

On the miraculous Qur'an and that we should keep attachment to it regularly.

This main Ayah was highlighted:

وَنُنَزِّلُ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ مَا هُوَ شِفَاءٌ وَرَحْمَةٌ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ۙ وَلَا يَزِيدُ الظَّالِمِينَ إِلَّا خَسَارًا
