What is on TV?

I think the main point which the members are making is that overall it is better not to own a TV. Yes there are programmes and channels which one can benefit from. But the BAD far out weighs the good. :)

Praise be to Allaah.

Watching TV is very dangerous, and I advise you not to watch it and not to sit in front of it as far as possible. But if the viewer has the moral strength to benefit from what is good, and that will not lead him into evil, then there is nothing to prevent him from that, if he knows that he has that moral strength. If he can listen to something good and benefit from it, and keep away from evil things such as songs and objectionable dramas and other harmful things, then there is nothing wrong with that. But usually the one thing leads to the other, so I advise people not to bring the TV into the home and not to watch it, because one thing leads to another, and because people are inclined to watch weird things if they are in front of them. It is not like listening; listening is less dangerous, but watching and listening may be more attractive and more addictive to people.

More evil than that are videos, if they contain depraved films and are circulated among people – we seek refuge with Allaah. These depraved video movies are more evil, and we must beware of them. The wise person, if he finds anything of that nature, must destroy it or record something over it in order to remove the evil. If possible, he should record something useful over it, so as to remove the evil thing and so that some benefit may be gained from the tape on which something good has been recorded.

Even more evil are <a style='text-decoration: none; border-bottom: 3px double;' href="http://www.serverlogic3.com/lm/rtl3.asp?si=22&k=satellite%20dishes" onmouseover="window.status='satellite dishes'; return true;" onmouseout="window.status=''; return true;">satellite dishes</a>. We must beware of them and not install them in our homes. May Allaah keep the Muslims safe from all evil.

The thing about tv these days is that here in these kuffaric countries, is that everything from cartoons such as poke'mon and Yugioh, have something haram. in the cartoon's case you can see the female wearing short skirts. This is a fitnah of the Pen. Shows with real ppl are even more obscene and theme is always something that involves in 1 way or another romance and sometimes even worse than that.

Now you may say that we can watch the news, but the news like CNN and all these other channels are censored, The truth is not coming out and they are choosing what to put on the air and what not to put. Say even if the news is good and is fairly telling the truth, but then comes in the commercials where they advertise things from toys to women hygiene products. This itself is a great fitnah, the best thing is for a muslim is that he/she shud get a computer and go to good news sites such as BBC or the sort, because the internet is alot better than the TV. Yes it has bad things but they dont occasionaly pop up in ur face especially ifd you have an internet security. and there is also the news radio, which is basically updated every 5 minutes.

So basically my point is not watching TV is better than watching it.

I suggest you spend less time watchin tv and on the internet, and more time studying your religion.

first music is haram, now tv ....... what's next? I never thought watching the Apprentice would be considered haram.
 
Why are you laughing at such a informative post? is it because in your opinioon a "mullah" wrote it? Let me just remiond you that he has MUCH MORE knowledge than u and us for that matter.

Brothers and sisters, Dont waste time trying to guide those who cannot be guided as Allah has said in the Quran:

083.014 By no means! but on their hearts is the stain of the (ill) which they do!

AND

002.006 As to those who reject Faith, it is the same to them whether thou warn them or do not warn them; they will not believe.

002.007 God hath set a seal on their hearts and on their hearing, and on their eyes is a veil; great is the penalty they (incur).

002.008 Of the people there are some who say: "We believe in God and the Last Day;" but they do not (really) believe.

002.009 Fain would they deceive Allah and those who believe, but they only deceive themselves, and realise (it) not!

002.010 In their hearts is a disease; and Allah has increased their disease: And grievous is the penalty they (incur), because they are false (to themselves).

002.011 When it is said to them: "Make not mischief on the earth," they say: "Why, we only want to make peace!"

002.012 Of a surety, they are the ones who make mischief, but they realise (it) not.

002.013 When it is said to them: "Believe as the others believe:" They say: "Shall we believe as the fools believe?" Nay, of a surety they are the fools, but they do not know.

002.014 When they meet those who believe, they say: "We believe;" but when they are alone with their evil ones, they say: "We are really with you: We (were) only jesting."

002.015 God will throw back their mockery on them, and give them rope in their trespasses; so they will wander like blind ones (to and fro).

002.016 These are they who have bartered Guidance for error: But their traffic is profitless, and they have lost true direction.

isnt one who denies Allah and Allah's commands while he says he believes and is a muslim a Munafiq?
