What`s your nationality?

I suspect many of us are misunderstanding what is meant by nationality and are thinking in terms of national origin rather then citizenship. Looking at the members I know best it seems that at least 3/4 of the members live in the UK and most of them are of Asian Origin.

If most people are thinking in terms of National origin, the Asian choice should be very large and the American choice almost empty. as many Americans are either immigrants or children of immigrants and think in terms of their National Origin rather then in terms of American citizenship.

Just my opinion.

I know when I am asked my Nationality I answer Lithuanian and my race as being mixed, predominantly Oriental. (I'm roughly 50% Lithuanian Tatar (Lietuva Lipkas) of the Golden Horde(Mongolians)

When asked my citizenship I answer American, but that can be misleading as there are a number of countries in the Americas and technically all are Americans. (Even Chavez in Argentina. Argentina is in the Americas after all)

yeah I know , my memory was malfunctioning , my mistake.

I was curious whether Arabs also see themselves as Asians or Africans.
 
Question and pool is a bit wrong as it is mentioned :) Asian, Europen etc are not nationalities but origins..I'm of the Turkish citizenship but I'm half turk half Northern Caucasian origin-Abkhazia. Not sure how Caucas nations are considered regarding origin..

immm..not really!

if you come to describe Arabs you will find

Those are Asian:
Khaleeji Arab = Arabia Sub-Continent: Saudi, UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Yemen, Oman, Bahrain, Iraq
Sham Arab= Syria, Palestine, Lebanon, Jordan

for the African:
we have

Arabian west (al maghrib al arabi) = Libya, Morocco, Algeria, Mauritania, Tunis
Egypt & Sudan...I am not sure if we can but those two under the same category
Djibouti & Somalia

i was born in europe (in albania to a greek/albanian orthodox christian family) but now i live in the usa near D.C. so i put american though european might be actual.

I liked to know who am I talking to when I post in this forum.
I think in this case I am talking to the world ,LOL.
 
I agree, I prefer conversing with people who can give me multiple perspectives rather than just a re-hash of my own opinion.

Highest in actual number. Indonesia is about 88% Muslim, the actual number of Muslims living there is: 201,025,326

India while only about 14% Muslim is the second highest number: 144,198,760

Pakistan while being 97% Muslim is in third place for total Muslims with: 140,278,140

(Both the Indian and Pakistani Muslims are considered Asians, so that gives an Asian population of 284,476,900)

just for trivia:

Mali which is 100% Muslim only has a total number of: 270,758
