Which religion is closer to Islam?

zoroastrianism shares many things with Islam except the concept of Dual Gods who are constantly in conflict with each other.

Even some Hindu traditions are similar to Islam. The oneness of God. The illusion of the world. Etc.

I am not sure if it for us to conjecture on :

A) IF any religion is closest to Islam, and

B) If so which one.

Allah alone can know this.

However what Allah does say in the Qur'an regarding those closest in feeling affection to the Muslims is:

"You will find the strongest among mankind in enmity to those who believe, to be the Jews and the idolators, and you will find the closest of them to feeling affection for those who believe, to be those who say, "We are Christians". That is because there are amongst them worshipful priests and monks, and because they are not proud." (5:82)

Of course that verse is in the context of Jews and Christians. So one of them. I am not sure if Allah (swt) included Buddhists, Hindus etc in that too?

I would have to say the closest in ceremonial laws and beliefs are the Jews Though they are strongest in enmity to the believers

Christians though are closest to the believers in affection , they are more like the Polytheist Pagans in their beliefs worshipping 4 gods.

I voted Judaism for they way it is supposed to control every aspect of your life.

Isn't it strange that Judaism is thought to be more similar to Islam than Christianity according to the poll, even though it had a far longer period of time be *corrupted* from the original message (assuming Moses, Jesus and Muhammad were all spreading similar messages)?

Just a thought.

You can convert to Judaism, but you have to be far more sincere than converting to any other religion. You have to genuinely want to convert to Judaism more than anything else, I've always admired that- whilst other religions go out onto the streets preaching, and can make converts out of you in a few minutes, Judaism does no such thing.

Jews don't go out proselytizing because naturally 'they are god's chosen' once all the other religions are sufficiently 'corrupted' god will have no choice but to take them into his final abode (I say that tongue in cheek at their absurdities) . Now, perhaps if Christians weren't out handing out food pr medicine for a conversion, then you too might have a few sincere under your belt but I doubt because without bribes and forceful emotions, there is nothing left but Greek mythology!.. In fact you'd have to be the most genuine to convert to Islam. There is no worst time for Muslims than currently where the word is practically synonymous with some violent heinous act-- Muslims aren't even allowed to don their preferred garb without being fined let alone out preaching on the streets!

all the best!

Who said Judaism wasn't/isn't corrupted?
If it weren't God would have No need to have sent Jesus to them:

They are God' chosen people. How does one become Muslim or Christian? By uttering a few words. How does one become a Jew? Not easily. It's a lengthy process. It's to ensure only people who are genuinely interested in Judaism, and as I know one convert personally, it clearly works. Judaism is a religion I have a lot of respect for- indeed, perhaps the evidence of the testimony of the Jews that they truly are God's chosen people is that they're still around, after thousands of years of persecution and prohibition from their holy sites.

they are still around because of two reasons, because Allah wants them to be around as a great fitnah. He has already said they will go back the their "promised" land even though He has forbidden them to go there because of their cowardice behaviour and refusing to obey Allah's command (extreme arrogance). But they have gone back to the holy land, and are now waiting for their real messiah...they did not believe the son of Mary was their Messiah..they disbelieved in him and killed him literally (Allah will charge them on account of murdering His blessed prophet, the son of the best woman of mankind, even thought they did not murder him but another person...).... and also because Adolf Hitler said he let some of them go alive so as to show future Generations y he slaughtered them ruthlessly (the second reasoning: =p)...

I see no logical correlation between any of your above statements!
why don't you become a Jew if you love it so much?

Islam is a life long commitment not just an a prolonged act of cleansing and then walk the earth like savages committing carnage every where because they allege to be God's chosen. In fact they exist, because of the promise of Allah swt in sura 18 of the Quran. Those who are chosen by God are loved by God, not eternally ****ed!

Aslaamu alaykum..
Personally i dont think any religion is close to Islaam. In the Christian belief they worships man as God, which is noooo where similar to Islaam.
However, some (FEW) teachings are still left in the bible, but Jesus (pbuh) never preached to worship him, but to worship 1 God (Allaah allmighty). Like women should cover up, to fast, to pray, etc..These are teachings of Jesus (pbuh), but not Christianity, because the christians , (well only mostly the catholics i believe) dont practice much of the "Real" teachings of Jesus (pbuH). And with Judiasm, they dont accept all the prophets, and killed them. This is my personal view, and i hope it helped Insha`Allaah, and if i have said anything wrong forgive me Insha`ALlaah

Actually ur right...judaism and christianity's relationship with islam is like the relationship of north with south, hot with cold. I dun know how to explain, but this is the best way to put it on my capacity:

the jews and christians are extremists...

when Allah sent messengers, the jews wanted the kill them..so they have incured the wrath of Allah...one extreme..

the christians took the messenger as god..or they say a part of god is in him, or said things like he is the son of god or whatever...thats bad..thats kufr...and for that, Allah will burn them in Hell-fire forever...so they are being led astray by Allah...another extreme

and between those two above-mentioned are the muslims..they take the messenger of Allah for what he is...and they understand the tauheed (oneness of the almighty..islamic monotheism)

indeed from the time of adam till the day of judgement, there will only be one religion and that is the religion of submission..submitting to the oneness of the Almighty...

I believe too that God's will has kept the Jews alive. Without it, they would not have survived.

they did not believe the son of Mary was their Messiah..they disbelieved in him and killed him literally
Muslim belief says Jesus was raised to Heaven doesn't it...?

So God's going to penalize a whole group of people because some of them murdered one of His prophets even though they didn't actually kill him but another person... wait, what?

and also because Adolf Hitler said he let some of them go alive so as to show future Generations y he slaughtered them ruthlessly (the second reasoning: =p)...

Hitler was meglomanic psyopathic lunatic evil genocidal murdering lunatic. Even though I know what quote you are referring to, but I've no doubt Hitler would murder every single Jew in Europe given half the chance. He didn't get the chance, because he never succeded in conquering Britain or the USSR.

I see no logical correlation between any of your above statements!

What a coincidence, there isn't one.

why don't you become a Jew if you love it so much?

Admiring a people does not equate to sharing their beliefs.

I should imagine every religion is a long life commitment, and every religion has its fair say on the fate of those of other religions in its holy books.

i would say ur more of an Atheist than a christian...coz if ur a christian, u will never speak so highly of another religion (to this [refer to ur exorbitant praises] magnitude) and not convert to that religion unless ur a fool of a christian....whatever it is, May Allah guide us...

Aslaamu alaykum...

Yeah truee like, north with south and hot with cold. its like the total opposite.
Indeed there is no religion similar to Islaam, the beauty of Islaam , the way it appeared.
I mean look at Prophet Muhammad saw,the way his teachings were beautiful and touching and something we all as humans would want to accept. Everything the prophets (pbut) did were for us, to know how each prophet dealt with a situation,if we were in that position we should do what the prophets did (pbut),or else Allaah allmighty would not have chosen them to be mighty Prophets.
All the prophets were sent to all nations in the world, as Allaah informs us in the Q`uraan
And verily, We have sent among every Ummah (community, nation) a Messenger (proclaiming): \"Worship Allah (Alone), and avoid (or keep away from) Taghut (all false deities, etc. i.e. do not worship Taghut besides Allah).\" Then of them were some whom Allah guided and of them were some upon whom the straying was justified. So travel through the land and see what was the end of those who denied (the truth). {Al-Q`uraan 16:36}. they all brought the same teachings, they all submitted to one God, and were all muslims. They didnt bring christianity nor Judiasm.

Wa alaaykum salaam

Another nonsequitur that doesn't follow from any particular premise!
Admiring a people does not equate to sharing their beliefs.
Appreciation has to stem from some shared commonality.. you admire folks who crucified your god? That is amusing on some level wouldn't you say?

I should imagine every religion is a long life commitment, and every religion has its fair say on the fate of those of other religions in its holy books.
Not really.. I don't for instance see any commitments in Christianity.. all you need is to be christian, believe that jesus died to eat your sins and then frolic carte blanche, allow homosexual marriages, eat piggies, stay uncircumcised, keep absolutely nothing of the covenant .. so I am not sure where the life long commitment lies?

I will dismiss your last statement as unstudied which I believe is how you enter most debates!

all the best!

Judaism isn't just a religion, it's an entire culture. You get secular Jews and orthodox Jews. I also have absoloutely no intention of converting.

The folks who crucified my God were Caiphas, the Sanhedrin and the Roman authorities, and I haven't stated anywhere I admire them!

Ironically, that's still more things than the required five pillars of Islam. Also, Christianity has monks and nuns and the like- people who daren't even have sex they're so committed to God. I couldn't think of a harder and more admirable lifelong comittment.

thats the beauty of islam...and thats the difference between u and us...whoever marries, has attained half his religion..so he should just be patient for the other half...i fail to see the point y the monks have testicles and yet they seem to forbid for themselves something which God has not....
