Who assigns the Qareen?

Surah Az-Zukhruf (43:36): "And whoever is blinded from remembrance of the Most Merciful - We appoint for him a devil, and he is to him a companion."

Classical scholars, such as Ibn Kathir and Al-Qurtubi, explain that this appointment occurs at the moment of conception or birth.

It is a constant companion from the cradle to the grave. The consensus of classical scholars of Who Assigns the Qareen? ...

The Assigner is Allah. In Islamic theology, nothing happens in the universe without the permission and decree of Allah.

The assignment of the Qareen is a divine act of justice and testing, tied to Free Will.

The answer, as I have said, is Allah assigns the Qareen. The five angels? Confusion from other concepts such as Surah Qaf 50:17-18.

No it doesn't.
The Quraan verse is clear: "Whoever is blinded from remembrance of the Most Merciful" meaning the ones who turn away from God.
So this verse doesn't refer to everyone from the cradle to the grave...but only to the people rejecting God.

I do agree that Allah is the one assigning the devil...so it may be that Allah also assigns a devil to each person at birth...I am not denying that...
But you cannot use this verse as proof for that.

Abu Huraira reported the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) said, “No person is born but that Satan pricks him, and he cries from the touch of Satan, except for the son of Mary and his mother.” Abu Huraira said, “Recite the verse if you wish: Verily, I seek refuge for her and her offspring from the cursed Satan.” [Quran, 3:36; Bukhari; Muslim]

It is a clear sahih hadeeth in Muslim...besides it is not Iblis personally who does the pricking, but one of his shaytaan.

It sure doesn't seem like that. how did you come up with this claim?

How? does the one exclude the other? I do not see the contradiction here...besides...I do not read the name "Iblis" anywhere...It just says "shaytaan"

Angels are not "born"
About angels that are assigned to each person seems right, but I am not sure about the amount.
Two angels, one on each side, records the good and bad deeds at daytime and two other at night time
There is an angel at the front and back to protect the individual...they also work in shifts.
One angel is a constant companion who whispers good words which is called "Al-Mulhim"
So this sums up to a total of 9 angels...but 5 at a time.

I do not see the confusion...it just mentions the two angels who record the good and bad deeds...it doesn't say a word about the other ones.
