Yasir Qadhi says from the hadith that every time a child is born first iblis(satan) pricks it and also he assigns a Qareen to it but others say that Allah assigns a Qareen to every child that is born with 5 angels? can someone please answer this
Let's try this again, this time with proofs.
Surah Az-Zukhruf (43:36): "And whoever is blinded from remembrance of the Most Merciful - We appoint for him a devil, and he is to him a companion."
Classical scholars, such as Ibn Kathir and Al-Qurtubi, explain that this appointment occurs at the moment of conception or birth.
It is a constant companion from the cradle to the grave. The consensus of classical scholars of
Who Assigns the Qareen? ...
The Assigner is Allah. In Islamic theology, nothing happens in the universe without the permission and decree of Allah.
The assignment of the Qareen is a divine act of justice and testing, tied to Free Will.
The Claim that"Iblis Pricks the Baby and Assigns the Qareen" - the specific claim that Iblis physically pricks every newborn baby comes from a
hadith that is not found in the major authentic collections (Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, etc.).
Most hadith scholars classify this narration as weak (da'if) or even fabricated (mawdu'). The isnad (chain of narrators) is broken or contains
unreliable narrators. The concept of Iblis personally "pricking" babies contradicts the clearer, authentic hadith Allah assigns the Qareen, not Iblis.
Dr. Qadhi has discussed this topic in various lectures, but there appears to be confusion in how his statements are being reported.
He acknowledges the "pricking" narration exists but typically notes its weak status. He emphasizes that Allah assigns the Qareen, not Iblis.
He often clarifies that popular understandings sometimes mix weak narrations with authentic ones.
Likewise there is no authentic (Sahih) hadith in the major collections (Bukhari, Muslim, etc.) that states "five angels are born with every child"
in the specific way often described. However, there are related authentic concepts that have likely been mixed together form this popular claim.
can someone please answer this
The answer, as I have said, is Allah assigns the Qareen. The five angels? Confusion from other concepts such as Surah Qaf 50:17-18.
