Insya-Allah, I would love to. It's an interesting language and I guess knowing many languages should be beneficial ; D

Salam Dear Brothers! :D

Do you know a few bascis? or shall we start from the beginning? Well, I was thinking of making some sheets - the very basics - for you. Or we could do this course interactively via instant messaging. If you have any idea, let me know :D I really want to help you, insha'allah!!

masalam!

Thanks, I have no basic at all in German but this language is cool for me. I would like to check the blog and see what I can get before giving some opinions ya. I think many others are interested to learn German too, we really appreciate your help, Jazakallah.

Salaam Bruder Brasco

This "ß" (Eszett) is a tripple "S". There are couple of words that have this "ß". It is also called "Sharp S".

If there is a long vowel:

Fuß - Füße
grüßen - ihr grüßt
Gruß - Grüße

Short vowel:

Fass - Fässer
lassen - lässt

Insha'allah I could help you!!

Thank-you Brasco. That was very helpful.

For those of us who do not have German fonts, are there substitions that can be made for these characters?

masalam!

I was born in Germany and I immigrated to Canada as a child with my parents many years ago.

Yes, I do have a German name. I am of German descent on my father's and mother's side.

I am pretty sure that you, too, have a name other than the one you use on this forum.

But having a username is part of the protocol, nicht war?

Very Nice... how about some phrases
for shopping and food and whatnots

Jazaka Allah khyran

Of course Sister! :D

There are two types of German: The formal language and the informal one. Firstly, I'll teach you the informal german which is more easier and comprehensible ^^ Let's get started Sister!

A few greetings:

Hallo - Hello
Grüß Gott - As salamu Alekum (it this the meaning of our greeting :D)
Auf Wiedersehen - Goodbye
Freut mich, dich kennenzulernen - nice to meet you
Wie geht's dir? - How's it going?
Mir geht es gut, danke, und dir? - Thanks, I am fine and you?
Wilkommen - welcome

Useful phrases:
Wie heißt du? - What's your name?
Ich heiße... - My name is...
Woher kommst du? - Where are you from?
Ich komme aus... - I'm from...
Entschuldigung! / Verzeihung! - Excuse me!
Es tut mir leid!! / Sorry - Sorry :D
Danke - Thank you!
bitte / bitte schön - you're welcome
Wieviel kostet das? - how much is this?

Sister if you need special phrases, just let me know :D

masalam!!
