Selam aleykum
since last week I have 3 colleagues now who are from Germany. And even though Dutch (my native language) is quite close to it, I can hardly understand a word they're saying. Luckily two of them speak English though ^_^

I've always thought so too since germany is also called deutschland, but I discovered that dutch is the language of the people of holland...I think..., maybe brother abdul fatah can correct my simple understanding :D.

Selam aleykum
Dutch is spoken in Holland and the northern part of Belgium and Suriname.
Although both Dutch and German are Germanic languages and have a fair number of similarities, there are also many differences in both vocabulary and grammar. If somebody speaks German very slowly, I might be able to make out what they say, but I wouldn't be able to follow a real-time conversation.

Dutch is a West Germanic language - so it is really familiar with German :D

oky then ...jazak allahu khairan brother:statisfie .... i was checkin the site u told me to ... then i get confused :X masallah there is a plenty of meanings for the word (Toll) so how do u know the difference ?! is it by context u understand ?!

Yep sister it is by context and like in the english and arabic language, the german language has a rich thesaurus of synonyms :)

brother brasco how do u say love for your brother what u love for yourself in german I know sister means ( schwister) not sure !! and brother ( bruder ):?

Sis, here you are :

Love for you brother (love towards your bro?) - Liebe zu deinen Bruder
Love for your brother - Liebe für deinen Bruder

What do you love for yourself in German? - Was liebst du an der deutschen Sprache?

Insha'allah, this is what you wanted :D if not, give me more details :D

Schwester = sister

Bruder = brother :D

masalam sister :D

no!! i meant the sentence of the hadith ( love for your brother what you love for yourself ) hope u get it insha allah :statisfie

ah!! I am sorry sis!! :D I really did not get it!! haha how stupid!!

Anyway her's your translation: "Dass was du für dich liebst, so liebe es auch für dein Bruder"

sorry again sis :D

Here's also another translation but not a literal one:

"Wünsche dein Bruder, was du dir selber wünschst!"

:bump1:
