Asalam Walaikum. My question may seem controversial but this is a question that has been on my mind for a while now. I do a lot of research on history, particularly racism, slavery and etc. Allah is the most beneficent, the merciful and the most just! How come Allah allowed racism to even be in existence? How come Allah allowed slavery to happen? How come Allah hasn’t punished the people on earth for letting slavery even happen?

The dunya will always be what it is, imperfect. The question can basically be about any bad thing other than racism and <modern day> slavery and the answer would still be the same. Why did Allah allow <x> to exist. People have the choice to act and choose how they want to live and treat others. These are the choices Allah has allowed us to make and these are the choices we will have to answer for in the end. No injustice will be done in the hereafter and everyone will have rewards and punishments. Those that did the injustice in this life and those that were victims of it.

Exactly...I totally agree with Kiev.
This world is not designed to be fair...This world is designed to test us. All the good but also all the evil we encounter in this world comes from Allah...Both good and evil are creations of Allah to give us a free choice. He tests us with wealth or poverty...sickness and health...hunger and satisfaction...slavery and freedom....etc.
How will we respond to those situations? will we be gratefull for living free, having enough money, being healthy...will we remember Allah when everything is OK? etc....and will we be gratefull that our situation is not any worse than it is...will we be patient?...will we pray to Allah to make it better for us? or will we curse Allah for putting us in this bad situation?

Well, Dunya is between Jannah and Jahannam in sense of quality of life... Here we have free will and all choices possible. As Allah said He is testing us on how we would act on anything or everything. Then there's Judgment Day...

Islam clearly says we're ALL children of Adam and Hawa, meaning there are no differences except in behavior. So, according to Allah's rules there isn't racism not any other type of discrimination, but human rules are way different...
