I have seen comments here about how holy books are best read in the language they were written in, yet having no money for tuition I have been unable to learn Arabic.
Is there no free community class for the furthering of the language?

:sl:

there are. well i go to brixton mosque in brixton, they offer free classes 4 sisters evry saturdays quran and arabic language. it depends on where u leave really.

just look around, many Mosques do it, but as far as I'm concearned, it's is the most effective if you travel to an Arab country.

Azhar Academy in Cairo, Egypt do it for free if you ask them, but you need to be very hard working.

would I be able to learn free at a mosque if my interest is in comparative theology, not in becoming muslim myself?
(I have always been afraid to ask!)

of course you will be allowed to, if you are feeling afraid to ask, you can go with someone who is actually a muslim, someone you know.
