World history lesson about USA and its enemies

has anybody else noticed, that whenever the United States goes to war in its history, it goes something like this?:
step 1: dispute between America and another nation, another nation strikes America
step 2: America strikes back 100X harder and possibly even destroys other nation
step 3: America rebuilds nation and makes alliance


examples: Great Britain, Confederate Southern America, Nazi Germany, Fascist Japan, etc.

2 saddam Iraq Tried but what can't they do when it's 35 country against 1
