you don't have to change ur name in English, cos, for example:
you could say this in a number of ways in English: Salam

As long as the pronounciation is correct, then it shud b ok.
This explanation is incorrect too......... let me give you an example :
This is how many people write
أنا in English
ana
anna
anaa
^^ at first glance, all of those would mean
أنا in Arabic, which means "I"
However......if you look again, then you would see a problem in the second method of spelling, "anna"
Why? Because it has two 'n's ....and if you were to convert that into Arabic spelling, we know that in Arabic, the Shaddah is symbolic of two letters. So then "Anna" with the intent of saying
أنا is incorrect, because according to the English spelling, it's no longer that, but rather it is now
أن (with a shadda on the noon) which means, that/because/since
So yes.......the way you write out the Transliteration is very important so as not to confuse people
