sounds like great idea remind me of a site i use too watched when i was non muslim expect it was like youtube but all the videos were of britney spears lol..but i think great idea but i dunno bout the name is doesnt say anything bout site theres no indication that its a islamic site you know? here my lame ideas lol thetruthsonislam.com, Allahtruth.com or Allahtruthvideos.com?

Insha Allah, this site is in honour of Rasulullah (salallahu alayhi wa sallam) and our response to youtube’s refusal to remove the offending anti-islamic videos insulting our beloved Prophet (salallahu alayhi wa sallam). Insha Allah, the main reason for doing this site is that it will be possible to remove content that is morally and religiously offensive, making it more suitable for the muslim user. The site will include other content as long as it is halal e.g. cookery, DIY, educational and more - just like you tube. So I felt a neutral name is more suitable for it.



P.S. I am still open to other names as long as they are neutral(ish).

Some other suggestions I came up with are:

wideo.com (asian dialect for saying the word video lol, also rhymes with vimeo - which is a brilliant video sharing site so is easy to remember)

NMV.com (abbreviated from New Muslim Video)

ilmstreet.com (sounds a bit like elm street, but it's ILM street, get it?)

MuslimTV.com - nice and easy

strictlyhalal.com (and you know it)

nasheedTV.com (gives off a good vibe)

DhikrBox.com (sounds like that ice-cream, whats it called again? )

nowadays, you can get URL's with the " .TV " extension that replaces the common " .com" extensions et al.... now that is an interesting avenue to explore isn't it?

See if you can get the .tv extension, I really REALLY like it.

I think we should only embark on such a project with an intention is to keep its content 'strictly islamic'.
(Which also means that videos need to be 'screened' by its admin (which should ideally have knowledgable muslims in the study of deen) - to filter out those videos that may be promoting an view-point thats not reflected in Quraan and Sunnah.
e.g. what to do with Shia uploadings? etc......

Secondly, Islam is a way of life.
So, videos on food, lifestyle, world news, etc - are all important aspects of Islam.

I think an Islamic name is important because:
- We are muslim, and proud of it : )
- If we wish to keep its content halaal, then an Islamic name would automatically infer this.
- The basis for this idea is that we wish to have an Islamic friendly video-sharing channel......so it would make sense to have an Islamic name : )

One of the reasons why I prefer a neutral name is that I hope it would attract non muslim audiences to visit the site with a neutral frame of mind, as opposed to an Islamic name which is like rag flag to a bull so that they come with the intention of bashing Islam. The site itself would then act as a dawah tool by showing a clean, peaceful and friendly Islamic environment. Allahu alam. But that is what I secretly hoped for in keeping a neutral name.

But seeing, that an Islamic name is being favoured more, I am willing to change it insha Allah.

Scimi, I like wedeo.com, (I see the 'we' as in ummah) but it's taken, and so are other variations that I tried - such as wideo and wedio. (Apparently the shorter the name, the more people remember it and have ease spreading it.)

say theres a person out there somewhere, who has, even though being a disbeliever, managed to maintain a decent fitrah and dislikes all forms of dishonest/shameless/vulgar videos etc.

This person may wish to watch a halal, decent cooking show or even brush up on some knowledge of IT principles etc. Slowly the barakah of this site, the blessings Allah bestows on it, wil shine through to the user but what we really dont want is this user being putoff immediately.


hence why I suggested flickerjam and I think although everything should be islamic, we should make it in a way that the whole world feels welcome to it.


However I make dua whatever is used, is blessed by Allaah.

I got the PM too, but I am not sure if peacetv will be able sponsor the site as they themselves ask for donations/zakah to run their own tv channel/projects. Secondly, there's already someone I've decided to offer partnership to.

I think the servers may not be too big a problem. I think my son's dad has his own servers but he is out of the country atm. I'll get my son to ask him when he calls him tomorrow insha Allah.

Right now, it's proving quite difficult to choose a domain name so I think we should have a poll. I'll try to put one up tomorrow insha Allah.[/FONT]
