According to your religion how old is the earth?
And why is it so?
The Bible doesn't suggest how old the earth is, at least not in a literal sense. There are some Christian whackos who continue to suggest the Earth is only a few thousand years old.....yeah, I know.
That is not necessarily true barney because as rav pointed out about Jewish beliefs, they can explain it away by saying it was created in a mature form, fossils, corpses, ancient ruins and all!
You cant create something thats already aged! Even god is going to have to work a bit on that.
Still very creative of them. I wonder if they decided that about the same time as carbon dating?
Carbon-14 dating rests on two assumptions. (a) that the amount of carbon-14 in the atmosphere has always been constant, and (b) its rate of decay has always been constant. Neither of those assumptions have been proven or close to proven. Since the world was created in six days according to the Orthodox Jewish belief, who knows how the cosmic radiation in the atmosphere was fluctuating then.
