Tawaf means to circumambulate as muslims do around the Kaaba. So I'm trying to figure what the word 'tawaf' implies in the poem. Malamat means to berate, admonish, chide etc. Doesn't it then mean that, 'the heart circumambulates the self in admonishment'?
I don't know what pindaar means. But sanam means idol. Kada means house. Put together idol in house = temple. I can't make head or tails until I know the meaning of pindar.
'Sar zer-baar-eminnat-darbaan kye huey'
Sar = head
zer-baar = ?
-e- = of
minnat = beseech/beg
darbaan = dar = door darbaan / doorman?
Kinda fun trying to figure that out lol
Thanks for your help justhumane. I hope someone can tell me the meaning word for word. Until then I'll think it's somewhat unislamic.
ser zare-baar-eminnate-darbaan kiye huey = head hung low the way a doorman stands beseeching.
A lot of Ghalibs ghazals are like on the borderline... he talks about drinking a lot among other stuff....
Personally, I like Bahadur Shah zafar's poems a lot more. He was the last mughal emperor to rule over India during times of Ghalib n such... he went through a lot of difficulties and it reflects in a lot of his poetry...

(when he was exiled in brunei and heads of his sons were presented to him on a silver platter. He wasn't allowed a pen and paper to write on so he wrote on the prison walls.)

Tawaf=circumambulate=to have a walk
Ku=street
Malamat=admonish/insult
Now it goes like this,
My heart again compels me to have a walk to the street where I m insulted
