‘Awn ibn Abdillah (rahimahullah) said, “A man advised his son saying: O my son! You should adopt Taqwa and if you are able to be better today than you were yesterday and to be better tomorrow than you are today, then do so.”(Kitabuz Zuhd of Imam ‘Abdullah ibn Al Mubarak, Hadith: 846, pg. 254 and Hilyatul Awliya, vol. 4 pg. 263/264. “A sign (of a person) having love for Allah is his increase in his remembrance of Him (Allah), for verily you do not love something except that you increase remembrance of that (thing)”
“…The best thing to do when someone needs help physically or financially is to busy yourself with helping that person, relieving his distress, and to place this as a priority over your private worship that you would usually be engaged in.”
Hadhrat Zainul Aabideen Husain bin Ali (Rahmatullahi Alaihi) once said, “The salient feature of those affiliated to the Ahlus Sunnah wal Jamaa’ah is the recitation of abundant durood upon Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam).
Imam Ibn Rajab Al-Hanbali rh said: It was said to Hasan Al Basi rh:
“Is not the servant ashamed of sinning and then repenting, then sinning again and then again repenting? He said: Shaytaan wants exactly that. Never stop making repentance.”
Yahya Ibn Mu’aadh Ar-Raazee stated: “This worldly life is the Devil’s intoxicant (Khamr). Whoever is intoxicated by it will not regain consciousness until they are in the ranks of the dead, in a state of regret, among the losers.”
‘Uddah As-Saabireen of Al-Imam Ibn Al-Qayyim, p. 349, Daar Ibn Al-Jawzee.
“The intoxicating effect of loving this world is far more potent than the intoxication that results from drinking alcohol by a long way. The one who is intoxicated by this will not gain his senses until he is in the darkness of his grave, and [if he regains his senses] and the effects of this cease while he is living then he will surely appreciate the extent of intoxication that this worldly life can cause and that it is more severe than alcohol…”
In ‘Uddah As-Saabireen Ibn Al-Qayyim rh said, “Numerous narrations have been transmitted from the rightly guided predecessors where [they have mentioned] that the love of this world is the root of (all) sins and the source of them.” (p. 349)
He said, “The love of this world and leadership is that which has filled the Hellfire with its inhabitants, and the practice of abstinence as it relates to the life of this world and leadership is that which has filled paradise with its inhabitants.” (p. 349)”
“If you were to find out that your brother has done something bad, then you should look after an excuse for him, if you can’t find an excuse, you should say “He has an excuse.””
“One should treat money with grace so that it is blessed for him, not take it with greediness and fear that it might be lost. Rather, money should be like using the toilet. You go to it when you need it and never let it reside in your heart.”
قال ابن القيم رحمه الله: وقد جعل الله سبحانه العين مرآة القلب، فإذا غضّ العبد بصره، غضّ القلب شهوته وإرادته، وإذا أطلق بصره أطلق القلب شهوته. (روضة المحبين)
Ibnul Qayyim RA says, Allah has made the eyes the mirror of the heart. When a servant lowers his gaze, the heart lowers its desires. And when a servant lets loose his eyes, the heart lets loose its desires.
Pain and hardships allow you to grow spiritually Alhamdulilah so smile when a so called calamity befalls upon you.
Alhamdulilah Allah swt is the greatest.
Sufyân b. ‘Uyainah – Allâh have mercy on him – said:
“The intelligent person is not one who merely knows what is good and what is bad. The intelligent person is one who, when he sees what is good, follows it, and when he sees evil, shuns it.”
Al-Hasan Al-Basri attended a funeral prayer. When they had buried the dead person he said to a man from the gathering: “Do you think that this dead person would wish to come back to the earth to increase his deeds from dhikr, good actions and istighfaar from his sins?” The man replied, “Yes.” So al-Hasan said, “Then why aren’t we like this dead person?” [Taken from the book al-Hasan al-Basri by Ibn al Jawzee]
