Imams pray in Nazi Death Camp in Auschwitz

    Report bad ads?

Muslim leaders from across the globe paid tribute Holocaust victims this week during a visit to Auschwitz, the former Nazi concentration camp, where they prayed at the Wall of Death for those who were killed by genocide and suffered under violent anti-Semitism.

The imams, who hailed from Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Bosnia, Palestine, Indonesia, Nigeria, Turkey and the United States, performed Islamic prayers while facing Mecca as part of a Holocaust awareness visit funded in part by the U.S. State Department.

"What can you say? You're speechless. What you have seen is beyond human imagination," Imam Mohamed Magid, President of the U.S.-based Islamic Society of North America, told Agence France-Presse.

"Whether in Europe today or in the Muslim world, my call to humanity: End racism for God's sake, end anti-Semitism for God's sake, end Islamophobia for God's sake, end sexism for God's sake... Enough is enough," said Magid, who leads the All Dulles Area Muslim Society in Northern Virginia.

Re: Imams pray in Nazi Death Camp in Auschwitz

No doubt the holocaust was horrific, but this does seem hypocritical, coming from a country that detains people indefinitely without ever putting them to trial, and tortures them. That imposes sanctions on other countries which lead to millions of children being killed. Which aids and abets certain countries in inflicting a holocaust of sorts on those whose land they've taken over. And is cowardly enough to kill innocent civilians with armed drones high in the skies in other countries.

We need to recognise genocide which has occurred to all peoples, not just to Jews. Be that the Rwandans or the Iraqi children, when all humans are given the same worth, that will be good to see. I await the news that such prayers have been organised in Rwanda, in Iraq, in Palestine etc.

Seems strange since most of the Muslims were on Adolfs side. I suppose they get a free vacation in Poland out of it.

True enough; however, it seems this group of Muslims "took the high road" on this one. I admire them for setting the proper example for the world.

Re: Imams pray in Nazi Death Camp in Auschwitz

WS I don't believe it helps Muslims to deny the Holocaust happened after all Muslims did'nt do it. Some Muslims may of allied with Nazi Germany but that was out of Anti Zionism rather than from Anti Semitism. While I accept that the Holocaust happened the my views on the the Holocaust has nothing to do with my views on if Jews may control or have power or influence in government media banking stock market or business this is not Anti Semitism because all groups have power Im sure of it. I don't blame Jews for all of the World's problems but whats wrong with admiting that Jewish/Zionist interests do influence Politics and Economics just like Christians have influence or Atheists and so on White People have influence in the World just like there are Black People that have influence and Asians. Anyway Hitler and Nazi Germany killed Jews out of Racism not diffrences of Religion Hitler hated Jews because of their Ancestry I know it can be debated among Jews and Non Jews if Jews are a Race or only a Religion or a Culture but Hitler hated Jews because of their Ancestry not their Religion Racism is haram we don't hate people because of their Ancestry no one chooes that by the way Im sure Hitler viewed Arabs as Inferior as well. By the way People of many diffrent Religions fought on Hiter's side not only Muslims there were Jews Christians and Hindus among others in Hitler's Army the Zionists offered an Alliance with Nazi Germany many Muslims fought for the British in both World War 1 and World War 2. Google the Nuremberg Laws of 1935 or Nuremberg Race Laws. My views on the Holocaust has nothing to do with my views on the Palestinian vs Israeli War.

The Nuremberg Laws (German: Nürnberger Gesetze) of 1935 were antisemitic laws in Nazi Germany introduced at the annual Nuremberg Rally of the Nazi Party. After the takeover of power in 1933 by Hitler, Nazism became an official ideology incorporating antisemitism as a form of scientific racism. There was a rapid growth in German legislation directed at Jews and other groups, such as the Law for the Restoration of the Professional Civil Service which banned "non-Aryans" and political opponents of the Nazis, from the civil-service.
The lack of a clear legal method of defining who was Jewish had, however, allowed some Jews to escape some forms of discrimination aimed at them. The enactment of laws identifying who was Jewish made it easier for the Nazis to enforce legislation restricting the basic rights of German Jews.
The Nuremberg Laws classified people with four German grandparents as "German or kindred blood", while people were classified as Jews if they descended from three or four Jewish grandparents. A person with one or two Jewish grandparents was a Mischling, a crossbreed, of "mixed blood".[1] These laws deprived Jews of German citizenship and prohibited marriage between Jews and other Germans.[2]
The Nuremberg Laws also included a ban on sexual intercourse between people defined as "Jews" and non-Jewish Germans and prevented "Jews" from participating in German civic life. These laws were both an attempt to return the Jews of 20th-century Germany to the position that Jews had held before their emancipation in the 19th century; although in the 19th century Jews could have evaded restrictions by converting, this was no longer possible.
The laws were a legal embodiment of an already existing Nazi boycott of Jewish businesses.

Re: Imams pray in Nazi Death Camp in Auschwitz

And now Israel is a racist state with persecution and aparteid against Palestinians etc. Germans wanted to clean house and drive out the (Jews, Roma etc) from Europe or use them as slaves or anyone else that stood in their way. The difference is that Israel is abusing the native peoples not foreign peoples as the Germans did. People demonize Adolf and the Nazis but they where just Germans being Germans. When the conditions are right and the time is right they will probably do it again. The Russians will nuke them into oblivion IF they cross Russian soil next time though.

Stalin was pure evil, but useful to protect the British Empire from the advancing German one. The irony was that the Nazis were supported by the British and Americans as a defence against communism. Adolf got out of control with megalomania and he had to be taken out. Some ex Nazis were secretly employed by the CIA during the cold war too. A lot of ex Nazis fled to the USA as the Americans didn't have any real beef with them, not like the Russians and British.

It is very hypocritical considering US and it's NATO allies have directly or indirectly engaged in holocaust of Iraq, Bosnia, Rwanda, Kosovo, Africa, Palestine, India/Bangladesh as well as massacres in various cities and countries by drone attacks, "suicide" bombings, and other means. This is not including the genocide of the natives of the Americas as well as the Australians and its nearby islands. Their actions are meaningless to us until we see the recognition of these atrocities, war crimes and crimes against humanity as well as the recognition of such nations, administrations and individuals in same light as Hitler.

We do, but we also need to keep the meaning of the word 'genocide' pure and not devalue it by applying it to other situations that plainly fall a long way short of genocide. Just because an action is bad and we don't like it, that doesn't make it genocide. Whereas the Nazis' conscious and deliberate attempt to eliminate an entire people is fortunately not so common.

There is a weird movement going on in some circles which is a kind of 'Holocaust-envy', a jealousy that the sympathy for being the victims of one of the worst events in history has gone primarily to the Jews. You can even see it suggested that the Jews created their own Holocaust in order to get sympathy (exactly the kind of conspiratorial ideology that contributed to the Holocaust in the first place). As if any people would wipe out almost their entire population in order to make the survivors more popular. It has to be one of the most offensive accusations in history. And of course there are the various degrees of Holocaust deniers.

This visit by immans is a wonderful thing to see and will help understanding on all sides. Muslims had nothing to do with the Holocaust but anti-Jewish sentiment connected with Israel is affecting attitudes.

The Holocaust is not the only genocide in history. But it has vivid characteristics that make it stand out as an archetypal event, more than any other. We should see it as symbolic of all genocides and always remember it, to protect ourselves against a repeat.

We should not kid ourselves that it could only have happened to Germany. It's something in human nature that can emerge under certain circumstances. The German people are to be praised for their exceptional acknowledgement of the crime and the efforts they have made post WW2 to face up to the legacy. We now need to focus on this as a world event of significance to all peoples.

The Holocaust belongs to all of humanity because we are all capable of something similar, and should be remembered as a warning to try and stop it happening again.

Of course Stalin hated the British Empire but his fight against the Germans aided it. Stalin became an enemy of an enemy of the British so became a friend for a while, politically speaking.

Communism being a threat to the British was when the Romanovs were killed. Regicide is considered very low and savage and you can't get lower than communists and the French revolutionary scum.
