Israel land grab law 'ends hope of two-state solution'

Land grab law 'allows theft, stalls peace process'

Law that retroactively legalises settler homes on private Palestinian land widely condemned as legitimising theft.

Israel's land grab law that retroactively legalises thousands of settlement homes in the occupied West Bank legitimises theft, violates international law and ends the prospect of a two-state solution, according to politicians, legal experts and human rights groups.

The so-called "Regulation Bill" instantly drew wide condemnation as it was voted in by members of the Knesset late on Monday with a 60 to 52 majority.

The law applies to about 4,000 settlement homes in the West Bank for which settlers could prove ignorance that they had built on privately owned Palestinian land and had received encouragement from the Israeli state to do so.

Three Israeli NGOs - Peace Now, Yesh Din and the Association for Civil Rights in Israel - and numerous Palestinians said they intend to petition the Supreme Court to cancel the law.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said on Tuesday in a statement: "This bill is in contravention of international law and will have far reaching legal consequences for Israel."

The EU's foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini said in a statement that the bloc "condemns" the law and urges against its implementation "to avoid measures that further raise tensions and endanger the prospects for a peaceful solution to the conflict".

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said the law was an aggression against the Palestinian people.

"That bill is contrary to international law," Abbas said following a meeting with French President Francois Hollande in Paris. "This is an aggression against our people that we will be opposing in international organisations.

"What we want is peace ... but what Israel does is to work toward one state based on apartheid."

Hollande called on Israel to go back on the law, saying it would "pave the way for an annexation, de-facto, of the occupied territories, which would be contrary to the two-state solution".

Hours before Abbas' meeting with Hollande, Saeb Erekat, secretary general of the Palestinian Liberation Organisation, told the Associated Press news agency that the law puts "the last nail in the coffin of the two-state solution".

Calling the move "theft", Erekat said the ruling showed "the Israeli government trying to legalise looting Palestinian land".

The Arab League also accused Israel of "stealing the land" from Palestinians.

"The law in question is only a cover for stealing the land and appropriating the property of Palestinians," said the head of the Cairo-based organisation, Ahmed Aboul Gheit.

Palestinian owners will be compensated financially or with other land, but cannot negotiate their terms.

The law is a continuation of "Israeli policies aimed at eliminating any possibility of a two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state", Aboul Gheit said.

Jordan, one of the few Arab states to have diplomatic ties with Israel, also denounced what it called "a provocative law likely to kill any hope of a two-state solution".

According to the UN envoy for the Middle East peace process, Nickolay Mladenov, the law crosses a "very thick red line" towards annexation of the occupied West Bank, and sets a "very dangerous precedent".

Speaking to the AFP news agency, he said: "This is the first time the Israeli Knesset legislates in the occupied Palestinian lands and particularly on property issues."

He also raised the possibility the law could open Israel up to potential prosecution at the International Criminal Court, a threat Israel's own top government lawyer, attorney general Avichai Mandelblit, has also warned of.

Mladenov called for strong international condemnation of the legislation but declined to criticise the US after President Donald Trump's administration refused to comment on it.

Trump is more sympathetic to Israel's settlement policies than previous US presidents; the Israeli government has approved plans to build thousands of new homes on occupied territory since the far-right leader settled into the White House.

"I think that is a very preliminary statement," Mladenov said. "Obviously they do need to consult, this is a new administration that has just come into office and they should be given the time and the space to find their policies."

White House spokesman Sean Spicer said the US was likely to discuss the law with Netanyahu when the Israeli prime minister visits on February 15, but did not comment further in a press briefing on Tuesday.

David Harris, head of AJC, the global Jewish advocacy organisation, said that "Israel's High Court can and should reverse this misguided legislation" ahead of Netanyahu's meeting with Trump in February.

That was also the message from Defence Minister Avigdor Lieberman, who said last week: "The chance that it will be struck down by the Supreme Court is 100 percent."

    'Against all international laws'

International law considers all settlements to be illegal, but Israel distinguishes between those it sanctions and those it does not, dubbed outposts.

A Palestinian Cabinet minister also called on the international community for support.

"Nobody can legalise the theft of the Palestinian lands. Building settlements is a crime, building settlements is against all international laws," said Palestinian Tourism and Antiquities Minister Rula Maayaa. "I think it is time now for the international community to act concretely to stop the Israelis from these crimes."

Nabil Abu Rdeneh, a spokesman for Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, called the law "unacceptable" and urged the international community to act immediately.

"This is an escalation that would only lead to more instability and chaos," Rdeneh said.

Palestinians want the occupied West Bank, east Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip - territories Israel occupied in the 1967 Middle East war - for their future state.

The international community views settlements as illegal and an obstacle to reaching peace.

Shortly before leaving office, US President Barack Obama allowed the UN Security Council to pass a resolution declaring settlements illegal.

Tobias Ellwood, Britain's Middle East minister, also condemned the land grab bill, saying it "is of great concern that the bill paves the way for significant growth in settlements deep in the West Bank".

Yuval Shany, an international law professor at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, said the law violates basic rights, interferes with property rights and is discriminatory because it regulates only the transfer of land from Palestinians to Jews.

Re: Israel land grab law 'ends hope of two-state solution'

    Salaam

Another perspective. No friend (obviously) but an interesting take on the situation.

    It is a Mystery

Perhaps the most remarkable thing about this latest round of the Israeli-Gaza war is that so many Jews in the USA and Europe are observably astonished at the way in which nearly the entire world is supporting the Palestinians despite the vast litany of horrors, both real and fake, that are being repeatedly shoved in the public’s faces by the mainstream media.

It’s as if they’ve forgotten what they’ve quite literally been saying since 1965 1908.

Now, it may be that the time has finally come for Israel to take its chances with alienating the rest of the world. The US military, while degrading rapidly, is still extremely formidable. The mainstream Western media is either wholly-owned or sufficiently leashed. China and Russia are otherwise occupied. Iran is only going to become more formidable over time due to the failure of Clown World and decline of the the imperial dollar. The Arab-Israeli population delta is widening. And the invaded nations of Europe are not going to become more friendly as their Clown-controlled governments are replaced by increasingly hardline nationalists.

But it’s a hard call. I’m not at all surprised that Netanyahu and his IDF generals appear to be hesitating before giving the orders to begin the ethnic cleansing of the northern half of Gaza. For good or for ill, no decision of such magnitude should be made lightly, and despite all the theatrical posturing on the part of both sides, the outcome is highly uncertain and there will be no return from committing to such a horrific and hypocritical path regardless of the provocation.

Despite the probable costs and consequences, the better strategic analysts understand why Netanyahu will probably roll the dice as his final act as Israel’s head of state.

Why now? Why do events seem to be spiraling into such biblical end times territory all over the globe?

For Israel, the answer is simple: they are actually running out of time.

You see, the Arab world is becoming incommensurately stronger every day. Arabs are no longer the weak pawns of the 20th century, to be used at whim by the British Empire, which itself now lies smoldering.

The most important dimension to this is the fact that Israelis are being outbred. Their TFRs cannot compete not only with Palestinians, but with the Arab world at large. Palestinians themselves are now upwards of 5 million in population while Israel only has 9 and a half, only ~7M of which are Jews.

But the bigger issue are Israel’s top historical adversaries. Egypt, for instance, had ~20 something million people during the Arab-Israeli wars of the 60s era. It now sports 110M and is set to be over 200M by 2050-2070. In that same time, Israel is projected to only be 13-16M or so. Even Palestinians will vastly outnumber their Israeli occupiers by then. Furthermore, the U.S./UK/Atlanticist Empire which has been the linchpin holding Israel together is now weakening more than ever before, and Israel will not be able to count on their unflagging support in the future, particularly reading the tea leaves of NATO and EU slowly crumbling—neither of which will likely exist past 2030.

Now Egypt has officially joined the BRICS, its tenure set to start on January 1, 2024. Combine that with a growing Turkey, Palestine, and many other states. The fact is, within another decade or two, Israel will stand no chance at “defending itself”, or rather at illegally bombing all of its neighbors. A future Arab-Israeli war could hypothetically pit 300-500M people against a country of 12-15M.

But more specifically Palestinians themselves are simply out-breeding Israelis and would begin to pose a major problem to Israel’s expansionist plans.

This is why the conflict now has eschatological and biblical dimensions—because Israel sees the writing on the wall, their very future is in critical danger. Only by fulfilling prophecy now, establishing a strong state on the totality of the land, can they hope to thwart the natural tide rising against them.
It also explains the uncharacteristic level of open hypocrisy and hysteria being exhibited by the likes of Jordan Peterson, Ben Shapiro, and others in the US media. While I never gave any credence to the idea of Ukraine as “the New Israel”, it increasingly appears there may have been some truth to it after al. But even if it was put down on paper somewhere, that plan appears to be dead in the water courtesy of the Russian special military operation, as is the neoclown plan to move to China. All that appears to leave, at the moment, is the original Zionist program for Greater Israel, updated in the 1990s by the neocons, which suggests that Gaza will be targeted for ethnic cleansing regardless of what the rest of the world thinks or does in response.

World War III began two years ago. I was hoping the Middle East would not be its second front, but it certainly looks like the most probable candidate at the moment. And remember, sooner or later, the Black Rider always throws his human servants from his high horse.

UPDATE: The threatened Gaza invasion is delayed again.

Israel has decided to put off the start of its ground operation against Hamas in Gaza due to adverse weather conditions, the New York Times has claimed. In an article on Saturday the media outlet alleged, citing anonymous Israeli officers, that the “invasion was initially planned for the weekend but was delayed by a few days, at least in part because of weather conditions.” These are so far precluding Israeli pilots and drone operators from providing ground forces with air cover, the NYT explained.

It’s been sunny, with no rain and little wind, all weekend in Israel. The forecast for the coming week is the same. Whatever the real reason for the additional delay, it isn’t the weather.

    China Warns Israel

The Chinese Foreign Ministry makes it very clear whose side China is on, and that the Chinese government will not endorse an Israeli invasion of Gaza:

AFP: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi made comments yesterday on the recent situation in the Middle East. He said that the Palestinian question is at the core of the Middle East issue and the crux is that justice has eluded the Palestinians for too long. Can you elaborate on that?

Wang Wenbin: On October 12, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs Wang Yi talked with Celso Luiz Nunes Amorim, chief advisor of the Presidency of Brazil, on the phone with a focus on sharing views on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

Director Wang Yi noted that China is deeply saddened by the rising tension between Palestine and Israel and the huge civilian casualties. He said China opposes acts that harm civilians and condemns violations of international law. China calls on all parties to exercise restraint, de-escalate the situation on the ground as soon as possible and prevent further expansion of the conflict. The top priority is to ensure the safety of civilians, and open corridors for aid so as to avoid a severe humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Director Wang Yi pointed out that the Palestinian question is at the core of the Middle East issue. He said the crux of the issue is that justice has eluded the Palestinians for too long. The current conflict showed again in an extremely brutal way that solution to the Palestinian question lies in resuming genuine peace talks as soon as possible and realizing the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. China calls for an international peace conference with greater authority and impact as soon as possible to galvanize a more broad-based international consensus with the two-state solution serving as its basis and formulate a timetable and roadmap to that end. The UN has the responsibility and obligation to play its due role on the Palestinian question. China supports the Security Council in holding an emergency meeting on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, agrees that the meeting should focus on humanitarian concerns, demand a ceasefire, an end to violence and the protection of civilians, form a binding international consensus and take concrete next-steps. China will stay in contact and coordinate and cooperate closely with Brazil and relevant parties in this regard.

Amorim said that the key to resolving the conflict is to resume peace talks, and Brazil is ready to closely coordinate with China to work jointly to ease the situation.
The Chinese diplomats always utilize positive and neutral language, but in a way that leaves little room to misinterpret what they’re saying.

Translation: follow through on your threats to enter Gaza and we will backstop the support provided by Iran and Russia to Hezbollah and the Palestinians.

The Global Times made it even more explicit, just in case the message didn’t get through.

China’s top diplomat Wang Yi said Israel’s actions have gone beyond the scope of self-defense, expressing concerns about the escalating Israel-Palestine conflict as Israel ordered one million people from the northern part of Gaza to evacuate within 24 hours as it prepared for a ground assault.

No wonder Netanyahu and his generals are thinking long and hard about this one. I expect they’re going to roll the dice anyhow, though, because they have about as much military support from the US as they’re likely to receive in the foreseeable future. I’d like to be wrong, indeed, I very much hope I’m wrong, but the stark reality is that this may be Israel’s last, best, chance at ethnically cleansing Gaza and taking another big step toward Greater Israel that they’re ever going to have.

    Everybody is noticing.

    One-Way “Impartiality”

If the BBC were to similarly suspend all of its pro-Israel reporters, it would have about six people left to report the Narrative.

Britain’s state-funded broadcaster BBC has launched an investigation into six reporters and a freelance contributor working for its Arabic service over allegedly exhibiting anti-Israel bias and cheering attacks by the Palestinian militant group Hamas. The probe is related to the journalists’ social media activities, namely liking and reposting pro-Palestinian content and criticism of Israel. The online conduct of BBC employees is covered by BBC’s ‘impartiality’ rules.

BBC takes six reporters off air over ‘pro-Palestine’ stance, 16 October 2023
Meanwhile, on Fox News, the debate appears to be whether Israel should either a) nuke or b) ethnically cleanse the Palestinian population and ship all of them to the United States, or, alternatively, Ireland.

The media has never been impartial. But its pretense to impartiality has seldom, if ever, been more absurd.

F8B5kRHW4AAI6Iv 1 - Israel land grab law 'ends hope of two-state solution'

The Guardian 'sacks' Steve Bell over 'antisemitic' Netanyahu Gaza cartoon

Veteran cartoonist Steve Bell has been "sacked" by The Guardian after it rejected an illustration of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu preparing to etch a map of Gaza onto his torso, which some have interpreted as antisemitic.

Bell, a cartoonist with the British daily for four decades, said his editor informed him by email that his current contract would not be extended when it expires in April 2024.

Some have viewed the brutal Israeli response to Hamas's killing of 1,300 Israelis in a raid on 7 October as an act of revenge with nearly 3,000 Palestinians killed so far in the bombing including 1,030 children.

This, and the backlash to Netanyahu from the Israeli public over the biggest security failure in a generation, could be the inspiration for the cartoon. The New Arab has contacted Bell for comment on the cartoon and news of his sacking.

A spokesperson for The Guardian News & Media told The New Arab: "The decision has been made not to renew Steve Bell’s contract. Steve Bell's cartoons have been an important part of the Guardian over the past 40 years - we thank him and wish him all the best."

The sacking followed a "difference of opinion" over a cartoon Bell drew for The Guardian showing Netanyahu ready to carve the map of Gaza on his body with a scalpel, referring to the besieged Palestinian enclave which has been under heavy Israeli bombardment for more than a week and a blockade for 15 years.

"Residents of Gaza, get out," the headline above the cartoon, which was rejected by The Guardian reads.

An annotation says "After David Levine", referring to the political satirist of the 196os who made a similar illustration of non-Jewish US President Lyndon D. Johnson. That showed the former US president preparing to engrave a map of Vietnam onto his torso.

One Twitter commentator said that Bell's cartoon appears to compare the dilemma Netanyahu faces now, as Israel prepares for a ground offensive into Gaza, to Johnson's in Southeast Asia, where US intervention led to a meat grinder defeat to Viet Cong rebels.

Bell told Press Gazette that he received an email from his editor shortly after submitting the illustration which read: "Jewish bloke; pound of flesh; anti-Semitic trope."

This likely refers to the William Shakespeare play The Merchant of Venice, where a caricatured Jewish character, Shylock, demands a blood levy from a Christian man.

The cartoonist said Shylock had "nothing to with the cartoon" and he would never dream of depicting anti-Semitic tropes.

"I'm not going to apologise for the image but I think it’s a good one. I think it works," he told Press Gazette.

"There’s no point apologising if you feel you’ve offended someone."

Bell's cartoons, some of the best known in the UK, rarely shy away from targeting powerful global figures, with George W Bush depicted with simian features and former British Prime Minister David Cameron resembling a condom.

He has faced accusations of alleged antisemitism before, including for a cartoon, published by The Guardian, showing Netanyahu holding a puppet of former UK party leaders Tony Blair and William Hague.

Some people viewed this as feeding into racist tropes about Jewish people controlling world leaders, something Bell also strongly rejected.

    Comment.

    Ideology is Dead

Not even four decades of solid, relentless left-wing loyalty is enough to save a Guardian artist who violated the current Clown World Narrative on a single occasion.

Artist Steve Bell says he has been sacked by The Guardian over claims that a new cartoon linked to Israel was ‘anti-Semitic’. The cartoonist, who has worked for the Left-wing newspaper for more than 40 years, claims he has been told it is no longer willing to publish his work after he submitted a controversial image of Benjamin Netanyahu.

He added that it was becoming ‘pretty nigh impossible to draw this subject [Israel] for The Guardian now without being accused of deploying “antisemitic tropes”‘. A spokesman for The Guardian last night confirmed the newspaper would not be renewing his contract.
This disemployment of a lifelong leftist highlights why it was a massive mistake for Christendom to fall for the fraudulent “right to free speech” that was pushed by those seeking to undermine the Christian blasphemy laws. Now there are new blasphemy laws, albeit with people putting themselves in the place of God and Jesus Christ, and beyond all criticism.

It is also why it is pointless to refrain from speaking the truth for fear of the possible consequences. Because it’s not enough to simply hold one’s tongue, complete submission and a willingness to knowingly speak falsehood is required.

One has to almost feel sorry for the artist. Netanyahu has been a veritable punching bag for the Left for nearly 40 years. There are vast reams of cartoons lampooning and caricaturing him in a thousand different ways. How was the artist supposed to know that the long-time punching bag was officially off-limits now?

Ideology is dead. Identity dictates everything now.

    Horrifying.

Israel-Hamas war live: Israel kills 500 in hospital attack – ministry

    https://www.aljazeera.com/news/liveb...ont-may-attack

    Moment of impact

    Blurb

A warning that some of you may find pictures in this report distressing.

The health ministry in the Gaza Strip says at least 500 people have been killed in an Israeli attack on al-Ahli Arab Hospital.
Gaza’s Hamas government described the attack as a “war crime”.

“The hospital was housing hundreds of sick and wounded, and people forcibly displaced from their homes” because of other Israeli strikes, a statement said.

About 3,000 people have been killed in Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip since the war erupted on October 7. More than 1,400 people in Israel have been killed.

    Aftermath.

    Blurb

Medical workers in Gaza are racing to treat survivors of a massive explosion Tuesday at Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital, where displaced people were sheltering from Israel's unrelenting attacks when, Palestinian officials say, an Israeli airstrike hit the compound, killing hundreds of people. Israel denied responsibility, blaming a failed rocket launch by militants for the blast. Israeli strikes had already damaged the hospital once before, and have killed medical workers and struck other medical facilities since it started bombing Gaza in retaliation for a deadly Hamas raid into Israel on October 7.

"As a physician, I'm afraid if I now leave and go to work, my hospital is going to be hit, as well," says Dr. Hammam Alloh, an internal medicine and nephrology specialist at Gaza's Al-Shifa Hospital, which is the largest hospital in Gaza. He describes how "almost 40,000" people are seeking refuge outside of hospital buildings in Gaza.

Zios Hasbra operations have gone into overdrive. This is the likely playbook they will use.

This is another Iraqi WMD moment. We are being gaslit

It’s not just ‘unlikely’ that a Palestinian rocket hit the Gaza hospital. It’s impossible. The media know this, they just don’t dare say it

Let’s say it again: The BIGGEST fake news comes from the establishment media. When the stakes are high, it barely bothers to hide its role as mouthpiece for Western propaganda.

This is another Iraqi WMD moment. We are being gaslit. Believe your eyes and ears, and the laws of physics, not the lies being peddled by our leaders and media about last night’s missile strike on the Baptist hospital in Gaza:

    1. No Palestinian group has a rocket that can hit a hospital, killing hundreds. What they have are glorified fireworks that can cause minor damage and the occasional death or two. If Hamas or Islamic Jihad could cause the kind of damage that happened last night, you would hear about it happening in Tel Aviv or Ashkelon too. You don’t, because they can’t.

    2. Israel’s apologists (and there are lots of them) are sharing all sorts of videos unrelated to the hospital strike. But the video of the strike itself shows that an incredibly large and powerful weapon is used. Listen to the noise the missile makes just before the hit – that whooshing noise is caused by its phenomenal velocity as it cuts through the air. That is not the noise of a falling Palestinian rocket.

If you watch videos being shared of Palestinian rockets being fired, notice how slowly they travel. Almost at a snail’s pace. If they fail, they drop at free-fall speed, not the near-supersonic speed of the missile that hit the hospital. To think otherwise is to misunderstand the laws of physics.

    3. Israel’s apologists are trying to further muddy the waters by suggesting that either a Palestinian rocket fell, or was intercepted, and the rocket or fragments of it hit a very large ammo dump in the hospital. Let’s just accept the racist premise that hundreds of families were quite happy to seek safety next to a huge stash of explosives in the middle of a relentless Israeli bombing campaign. Let’s also accept the fantastical idea that a falling glorified firework or fragment of it could penetrate the hospital’s strong walls and set off such an explosion. If all this was true, you would still see a series of secondary explosions as the arms were detonated by the initial explosion. You don’t because there is only one explosion – from an enormous missile.

    4. It’s a desperate psyop, so Israel has now released a recording of two Hamas militants conveniently having a chat after the missile strike, discussing whether they or Islamic Jihad did it. This is the same Israel that did not detect months of planning by Hamas that was needed to organise its breakout 10 days ago. But Israel got lucky this time, it seems, and just happened to be listening in when Huey and Louie decided to self-incriminate.

Remember Israel has a whole unit of ‘mistaravim’, Israeli Jewish undercover agents trained to pose as Palestinians and secretly operate among Palestinians. Israel produced a highly popular TV series about such people, set in Gaza, called Fauda. You have to be beyond credulous to think that Israel couldn’t, and wouldn’t, rig up a call like this to fool us, just as it regularly fools Palestinians in Gaza.

Most of the people spreading these lies know they are lies, including the media, and most especially the Middle East and defence correspondents. At least a few, like the BBC’s Jeremy Bowen and Jon Donnison, are trying cautiously to suggest it’s unlikely a Hamas rocket could cause damage on the scale seen at the Gaza hospital. But it’s not unlikely. It’s impossible, and they know it. They just don’t dare say it.

The Truth behind Biden's Visit, the Hospital Massacre, and Biden's Lie:

    1. Hezbollah and Iran stated that unless Israeli attacks on civilians ceased, they would intervene;

    2. Israel panicked. It can carry out massacres of defenseless populations but it can't fight ground wars. It has dreaded a ground war in Gaza, let alone fighting the Party of God;

    3. Israel begged Biden to visit to protect it from a second-front war;

    4. When Israel carried out the hospital massacre, Biden agreed to lie about the attack only if Israel agreed to cease its genocidal plan in Gaza and allow in humanitarian aid;

    5. Biden lied exactly as Lyndon Baines Johnson lied in June 1967 when Israel attacked the U.S.S. Liberty, killing 34 American crewmen. Both LBJ and Biden lied to protect a key ally (and, not incidentally, a domestic electoral asset).

    6. Biden will now be praised for his statesmanship in standing by Israel and enabling humanitarian aid to enter Gaza.
It will not be the last

Don’t Bark if You Won’t Bite

Israel is frantically backpedaling after more than a week of bloodthirsty threats to completely cleanse Gaza of Palestinians have been very poorly received by the world.

Iran’s foreign minister declared on Wednesday that ‘time is over’ for Israel, as Joe Biden was set to arrive in Tel Aviv to try and calm a rapidly-spiraling situation, with anti-Israel protests flaring up across the region.

The foreign minister’s message echoes one posted by Iran’s embassy in Syria that tweeted ‘Time is Up’ in Hebrew.
It’s unclear what the messages referred to, but came after an air strike on a Gaza hospital on Tuesday killed at least 500 people, according to Palestinian authorities… IDF claims video shows misfiring Gaza rocket was to blame for hospital carnage: Footage shows missile exploding in the sky before blast that left hundreds dead – as Israel furiously denies it was behind devastating strike.
Let’s get this straight. To the best of our knowledge, there isn’t a single rocket, of the thousands that have been fired at Israel, that managed to harm even a dozen people when it was aimed at a target and operated properly. But we’re supposed to believe that a single misfiring rocket managed to somehow blow up more than 500 people when it went awry.

Furthermore, we’re supposed to believe that the Israeli government, which possesses much more powerful missiles and bombs than Hamas, and which has been very loudly threatening to kill every man, woman, and child in Gaza, wouldn’t blow up a hospital when they’ve been aggressively bombing civilian apartment buildings and vehicles.

    Right.

It’s not looking good for Israel when even Turkey, which until recently had been quite friendly with it, now appears to have sided with the Palestinians, as pro-Palestinian protests take place across Europe.

Israel advised its citizens to leave Türkiye immediately on Tuesday, citing the heightened threat of terrorist attacks amid widespread outrage over the deadly missile strike on a hospital in the Gaza Strip.

The Kalergi plan of encouraging Muslim immigration into white, Christian countries so popular with the likes of Ben Shapiro and Barbara Lerner Spectre appears to be backfiring rather badly.

I was wondering why Israel’s recent PR failures have been even more observably incompetent than the supposed failures of its intelligence agencies, and I am reliably informed that it is due to the fact that its architects are nearly as old and out-of-touch as the US gerontocracy. They’re still operating on a 1980s Cold War model primarily designed to appeal to American Boomers, which is why they don’t realize how insane their attempts to establish an Official Story sound in the ears of everyone from Generation X and younger around the world.

This really isn’t that hard. You can’t cry about genocide for 50 years and then think that you can get away with openly committing one yourself. You can’t bomb hospitals, kill large quantities of civilians, and still claim that you’re the victim, even if it is in reprisal. And most importantly, never threaten to do anything for which you don’t wish to assume responsibility.

UPDATE: It appears the Israeli PR organization is more than a little discombobulated by its unanticipated ineffectiveness. Their efforts are to no avail, literally no one except Ben Shapiro and Mark Levin even pretend to believe them, and even those two are just faking it anyhow. The sound signature indicates a JDAM bomb of the sort that the US recently “rushed to Israel”. Which is why it’s that “heartbreaking” that underlines what a bunch of sociopaths these propagandists are.

image43 1 - Israel land grab law 'ends hope of two-state solution'

UPDATE: The hospital that was bombed was a Christian one. And we all know that the people who literally spit on Christians in the street are ever so respectful of Christian institutions. It will be fascinating to see how the Boomer Churchians attempt to explain that one away.

Al Ahli Arab Hospital is one of the oldest in Gaza, operating since the early 1880s. Initially it was a Christian medical mission and is known by many locals as the Baptist Hospital. It had been functioning as a free community clinic run by the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem of the Middle-Eastern branch of the Anglican Church.

    https://voxday.net/2023/10/18/dont-b...you-wont-bite/

    Propaganda is the Priority

Israel has drafted hundreds of military reservists to produce PR content claiming that Palestinian militants were responsible for the strike on the Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in Gaza, IDF spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari said.

If hundreds of reservists are being drafted for the purpose of writing press releases, one might be inclined to not unreasonably conclude that the ground offensive has been called off despite social media rumors that Joe Biden has “privately” given the Netanyahu government the green light for it. On the other hand, staffing up the propaganda arm could mean that they know they’re going to need a lot more PR in the near future. A LOT.

But regardless, I absolutely think it’s entirely possible that Israel is, in fact, innocent of dropping a JDAM on the Baptist Hospital in Gaza.

It might have been the US Navy instead.

The challenge to the “Hamas did it” crowd is to address the obvious and inescapable question: if Hamas possesses weapons capable of that level of destruction, why isn’t it using them against Israel?

image46 1 - Israel land grab law 'ends hope of two-state solution'

UPDATE: US President Joe Biden on Wednesday argued that the Hamas attack on Israel was worse than the 2001 terrorist attacks on New York and Washington, and vowed that America would “forever” stand with the Jewish state.

This episode was filmed a week ago before the grave atrocities including the slaughter at Al Ahli hospital. The Western propaganda machine is in full motion. Israel, aided by the west are conditioning western public opinion for the effective expunging of Gaza from the map. This slow, steady war machine is exceptionalising Palestinian violence, real or concocted, to further its aims. This is the Iraq war all over again.

To help us understand this subtle propaganda machine it is a pleasure to have Moazzam Begg on the show. Moazzam Begg is a former Guantanamo Bay detainee and senior director for the UK-based campaign group CAGE.

GAZA: THE IMAMS CONDEMN WHAT NOW?

At the time of writing, 3,793 Palestinians have been murdered, including over 1,500 Palestinian children, and 12,500 wounded. The morally bankrupt Zionist entity continues to pound Gaza’s population, employing the Dahiya Doctrine of state terrorism. Under the fog of this brutality, Palestinians in the West Bank are also being sniped and terrorised.

    Brazen propaganda

Coterminous with these extraordinary levels of violence is the brazen propaganda and lies from the Zionist entity. These include but are certainly not limited to the following:

Hamas slaughtered civilians at a rave. This narrative been strongly disputed, with evidence from those captured suggesting there was a crossfire between Hamas and Israeli soldiers. There is no credible evidence to prove Hamas deliberately targeted civilians.

Hamas raped victims. The claims remain unsubstantiated.

Hamas killed 40 babies and decapitated them. This claim was made by Israeli media. It remains unsubstantiated (see here and here)

Hamas has called for a “Global Day of Jihad”. Right-wing lawmakers in the US have made the claim. It is false.

Hamas placed babies in cages. The footage turned out to be of Palestinian children held in cages by Israelis

Hamas has burned babies alive. Whilst several experts have debunked the notion that the image of the charred baby is AI-generated, Israel did not “give any context for the images or the circumstances of the death of these children.” The ascription to Hamas as a deliberate act is unsubstantiated. Jewish settlers are known to burn babies, however.
Hamas went door to door, slaughtering people. The footage turned out to be Israeli police.

American-Israeli lawyer and Republican official Mark Zell posted a video claiming to show a Jewish baby kidnapped by a “Hamas terrorist”. The footage was unrelated to Gaza.
Hananya Naftali, Netanyahu’s digital aide, claimed Hamas leadership are enjoying good lives whilst Palestinians suffer. However, the images shared are AI-generated:

Al-Ahli Arab Hospital Attack. Naftali initially posted that Israel bombed the hospital before deleting his tweet. Israel blamed Islamic Jihad for shooting a misfired rocket. However, the footage it shared had a timestamp that showed the footage had been recorded 40 minutes after the explosion. Analysis of the Israeli footage revealed that it had been cropped and flipped to suggest the rocket that hit the hospital came from the direction of Palestinian rocket fire (see also here). The Israeli army also released a video with a recording of a conversation between purported Hamas officials, where they appear to talk about the misfired rocket that had caused the hospital blast. This clip, too, has been debunked. Other independent analyses expose holes in the Zionist narrative (see here and here). Most notably, the Anglican Archbishop Hosam Naoum said the hospital had received “specific warnings” by phone three consecutive days before the bombing to “evacuate the hospital”.
    [/LIST]
The Zionist approach has clearly been to throw whatever outrageous claim they can, hoping some of it will stick. Meanwhile, they can perpetrate a mass killing of Palestinians.

    An immoral equivalence

Perhaps one of the most egregious spins in this event is framing the conflict as though two equal sides are engaged in battle. Hamas is framed as the aggressor with its offensive on the 7th of October, with much outrage expressed concerning the alleged deliberate targeting of Israeli civilians.

However, the two sides are quintessentially not equal.

We do not need to highlight the occupied/occupier status. Nor do we need to revisit the Nakba to understand the last-ditch effort to bring the matter to the fore. For several years, the Zionist state and the UAE have been working hand in glove to normalise Israeli-Arab relations. Saudi was the final piece in that treacherous puzzle, and it was apparent that Mohammed Bin Salman could not care less about Palestine. The effect of these deals was a perfidious abandonment of the Palestinians, leaving them hostage to a psychotic and murderous terrorist state.

Further exacerbating these issues on the same timeline, we observed the ongoing expansion of illegal settlements, forced Palestinian evictions, cultural erasure, frequent incidents of Israeli soldiers killing Palestinians, acts of terrorism by Jewish settlers with impunity, and the detention of countless Palestinians. This year alone has seen 247 Palestinians killed by Israeli forces. Most painfully, since the Arab-Israeli deals, there has been an increase in the frequency of Jewish settler desecrations of Masjid Al-Aqsa, signifying its impending destruction to make for the Temple Mount. (For references, see here).

We cannot excise this context in our discussions on current events in the region. Indeed, the Hamas commander Saleh al-Arouri gave these reasons for the offensive.

It is telling that none of the other Palestinian factions have condemned Hamas, perhaps because they know this context and are living it every day. Pertinent here are the words of the PLO member Dr Hanan Ashrawi. Having questioned the assumed motivation of Hamas to kill as many civilians as possible intentionally, she responds to the assertion that the attack was a deliberate act of mass murder:

“This was a deliberate act of resisting an occupation army that has been surrounding Gaza, besieging Gaza, regularly bombing and shelling Gaza… This [killing of families] has been happening to Palestinians for decades. Where is your moral outrage? Why is it that you always ask the Palestinians to prove their moral fibre? Why is it that you extract whatever happened and you deal with it only by accusing the Palestinians.”
Ashrawi explains that the October 7th offensive was an attempt to resist occupation, and the loss of life cannot be isolated from the oppressive context that has led up to this flashpoint. Note these are not the words of a Hamas spokesperson.

In the vernacular of International Law, the Palestinian resistance engaged in a reprisal against an occupying power. Given the hypocritical outrage of the allegedly purposeful killing of civilians, it is worth noting that under the UK’s Law of Armed Conflict manual, the UK reserves itself the right to “take proportionate reprisals against an enemy’s civilian population or civilian objects where the enemy has attacked our own civilians or civilian objects.” Despite the deliberate targeting of civilians, it is not interpreted as terrorism.

Hamas has claimed it targeted military bases and compounds and issued orders to avoid targeting civilians. But civilians have been killed. Why, how, and in what circumstances these deaths have occurred is difficult to ascertain, given the rampant Zionist propaganda and uncertainty. If Hamas has violated the laws of the Shari’a and killed men, women and children without reason, then their actions are morally wrong and condemnable.

However, given the context, there is still no moral equivalence between the actions of the Palestinian resistance and the historical and present barbarism of the Zionist occupier. To perpetuate a neutrality of equal sides in this war is to accede to the validity of Zionist propaganda.

UK Imam’s statement and the “we condemn” ritual

Despite this clear distinction, some Muslims felt the need to drop to their knees and perform the “we condemn” ritual in a statement published on the 18th of October.

The statement reads terribly, excising history, context, and the aspirations of the Palestinian resistance. It does not begin by condemning the brutal occupation and continued theft of Palestinian land or the context highlighted above. It even fails to mention the transgressions against Masjid Al-Aqsa and the killings in West Bank.

Instead, the statement suspends its judgement on the shelling of the Al Ahli Arab hospital despite mounting evidence. It further “denounces” Hamas’s “killing and abduction” first and frames Israel’s barbaric and bloodthirsty actions as “subsequent excessive force”. It quickly moves to condemn anti-Semitism but fails to denounce the racism inherent in the state-backed censorship and repression of pro-Palestinian activism in schools and streets. Instead, it more passively “affirms” the right of communities to show their solidarity and support for both Palestinians and Israelis caught up in this conflict. Of course, nothing is mentioned concerning “support” and “solidarity” shown by the 100 or so dual-national Israelis who have travelled from Britain to Israel to contribute to the murdering of Palestinians.

All this has been noted by the pro-Israeli media, which has taken advantage by declaring that “UK Muslim clerics condemn Hamas”. The statement undermines the Palestinian resistance. It is an embarrassment.

    The signatories

This sedated pandering to the pro-Israel lobby is unsurprising given the signatories.

Shaykh Ibrahim Mogra has continued the trend of solidifying his status as an Establishment scholar and placating the Government through questionable interfaith efforts, attendances at Westminster Abbey, and supplications for the Muslim-blood-stained Royal family.

Abdullah Sahin is an academic who believes the “heart of the problem” of radicalisation and “Islamic extremism” is the “uncritical transmission of a revered set of texts” and “an indoctrinatory approach to learning and teaching about Islam”. In other words, madrassa-style education leads to “extremism” – an implication reinforcing neocon tropes and cliches. Brainwashing children with Sahin’s ideas is the cure to the problem of “extremism”.

Then we have the usual coterie of counter-extremists and “Imams in Line” Imams who are directly or indirectly linked to Shaukat Warraich’s dubious network of counter-extremism organisations. As we have shown, Warraich’s organisation, such as Faith Associates, has a history of receiving PREVENT money and secretly pushing and promoting PREVENT logic and thinking to unsuspecting Muslim institutions and audiences. Over the years, it has engaged with neoconservative counter-extremism organisations and advocated deformist views whilst courting traditional scholars. Most disturbingly, it has even worked with pro-Israel organisations such as the Mossad-linked Community Security Trust. Full details can be found here.

The following names are connected to this network.

Qari Asim is the senior editor for Warraich’s Imams Online counter-extremism project. He is also a trustee of British Future, which has collaborated with another deformist organisation, New Horizons for British Islam, to fracture the Muslim identity and reconstitute it into a new nationalist form in line with the PREVENT agenda where Muslim history is reduced to serving colonialism. Despite toeing the government line and even encouraging Muslims to join the British Army, he was unceremoniously kicked to the side by neocon Michael Gove last year when he supported activists protesting the inflammatory Lady of Heaven movie.

Musharraf Hussain is a ritual condemner and contributor to Imams Online. He has advised the Government on radicalisation in the past. His Karimia Institute website carries a statement that confirms it received PREVENT money. The statement also affirms that Hussain’s institution carries out counter-extremism and deradicalization efforts:

“Our focus was on promoting positive youth development, tackling extremism and extremist narrative and improving community relations.”
It is worth noting that Hussain was mentioned in the Shawcross Review of Prevent for some pro-Palestinian statements and criticisms of Prevent (here, p.31). According to a report attacking Musharraf at the time, his institute is estimated to have received almost £200,000 of Prevent money over the past decade.

Imam Muhammad Munir is a listed scholar at Hussain’s Karimia Institute.

Mufti Faiz Rasool has worked as a mufti in Minhaj-ul-Quran London. He has spoken at their counter-terrorism and extremism events. Minhaj-ul-Quran and its leader Shaykh Tahir-ul-Qadri have a history of promoting PREVENT-like agendas and measures supported by the Quilliam Foundation and anti-Islam neocon Douglas Murray. For more details, see here.

Shaykh Masood Akhtar Hazarvi is also associated with Imams Online (here and here). Despite criticising PREVENT, his Al Hira Islamic centre has given “anti-ISIS” training to children as young as 11.

Imam Ijaz Shaami, Imam Zeeshan Baloch, and Shaykh Umar Hayat Qadri are linked to Imams Online (see, for example, here and here). When Qari Asim was sacked as a government advisor by Michael Gove, Imam Baloch and Shaykh Qadri (as well as Shaykh Masood Akhtar Hazarvi) came to the defence of the lackey, laughably invoking “British values” and arguing that he has a “strong track record of standing up against hatred and extremism”.

Shia scholars Shaykh Arif Abdul Hussain and Ali Reza Bhojani are associated with the Al Mahdi Institute. Hussain has spoken at Birmingham Central Mosque alongside the West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit on terrorism and Syria. He reinforced the idea that the terrorism “problem” was a “Muslim problem”, demonising the Muslim identity in the process. His institute also held a public discussion on “Exploring Extremism in Society”, hosting the pro-PREVENT deformist feminist Shaista Gohir (more on Gohir, here and here).

Shaykh Khalifa Ezzat is the chief Imam of the London Central Mosque and Islamic Cultural Centre (ICC). The centre became infamous last year for becoming a conduit for the “British Islam” project, singing “God Save the King”. It has held several counter-extremism events. In 2016, as part of their interfaith activity, the centre held a Counter Extremism Strategy round table meeting with the Head of Local Delivery for The Office of Counter-Extremism and a representative of the Home Office as chief guest. The event aligns with the Home Office’s Building a Stronger Britain Together programme formed under the Government’s 2015 Counter Extremism Strategy. Shaykh Ezzat also spoke at this event. In 2017, the ICC worked with the Home Office to roll out the misleading reframing of counter-extremism as safeguarding. Two years later, it held a meeting with the London Prevent Lead “to share ideas, best practice, and engage with communities”.

Shockingly, earlier this week, the ICC even opened its doors to pro-Israel MPs, who have given their unflinching support to Israel and promoted fake news concerning the Palestinian resistance.

Finally, it is disturbing, though not surprising, to see Shaykh Abdal Hakim Murad put his name to such an atrocious statement. In the past, he has pushed his “English Islam” at the expense of other Muslim groups at events organised by deformists. Par for the course?

    Concluding Remarks

It is no secret that the internal desire within Israel is to bomb the Palestinians into the south of Gaza and expel them to North Sinai, “cleansing” Gaza and annexing it to Israel.

Against this overarching agenda, the slaughter of Palestinians, and the mass disinformation campaign against the Palestinian resistance, “equalising” or “neutral” Muslim statements are grossly irresponsible and fall into the propaganda campaign of the terrorist state of Israel and its proxies here in the West.

They are knives gently slipped into the backs of Palestinians.

May Allāh ease the suffering of the oppressed and innocent and grant victory to the Palestinians. Āmīn.

“If you are suffering, they too are suffering. But you can hope to receive from Allāh what they can never hope for.” (Al-Qurʾān, 4:104)

Naturally the governing elites are pushing back.

    Blurb

For those protesting against Israel’s war in Gaza, free speech is becoming more and more dangerous. The backlash is hitting students at Harvard University, protestors in France, and Palestinians in Israel. Now, with the murder of a six-year-old in the United States, there are fears of increased violence. Racism toward Arabs and Muslims is nothing new. But will the war in Gaza make things worse?

With its crackdown on Palestine solidarity, the UK sleepwalks into a police state

The British government has exploited the crisis in Gaza to further undermine civil liberties here in the UK. For the past two weeks, as Israel continues to indiscriminately bomb the Gaza Strip, killing more than 4,000 civilians, there has been a surge in pro-Palestine protests across the country.

In response, last week Home Secretary Suella Braverman, wrote to the police to warn that the waving of Palestinian flags and chanting freedom for Palestine may be a criminal offence.

This comes on the back of a swathe of measures curtailing human rights in the UK, most notably the Elections Act, Judicial Review and Courts Act and the 2023 Public Order Bill.

The latter legislation restricts the right to freedom of expression and assembly, sets a very low threshold to define disruptive protesting, and provides new powers to ‘suspicion-less’ stop and search.

The idea of absolute freedom of speech is a liberal myth. Those in power have always policed speech. There has always been and will always be limits on what is considered acceptable speech.

However, what we are witnessing in the UK is the government silencing any perspective that is not in line with its own ideology, an ideology that is in contradiction with human rights, international law and Geneva Conventions.

Unless these extreme restrictions are challenged, a two-tiered system of citizenship will emerge in the UK, which continues to sleepwalk into a police state.

Braverman’s directive to the police against supporters of justice for Palestinians is intimidatory. She is using the powerful government office to terrify those flying the flag of Palestine and chanting for their freedom. This is political violence. It is also very (un)British.

I was at the forefront of organising and demonstrating against the British government’s support for the US invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq. We carried placards with caricatures of the then Prime Minister Blair and chanted varied slogans, including “Blair, Bush, CIA: how many kids did you kill today?”.

Still, we were never obstructed from voicing our opinions against the UK government. So why is this government now denying British citizens their right to political expression that exposes Israeli human rights violations and war crimes?

It is even more concerning that these restrictions are selectively applied; there is a stark contradiction in how the British supporters of Israel are policed. Pro-Israel demonstrators in the UKcan freely express their opinions.

Some have even gone across to join the Israeli army, and have been directly involved in violence and killing of Palestinians. These supporters of Israel, including those engaging in terror, have been provided immunity.

Yet those expressing concerns - through nothing more than flags, placards and speech - for human rights violations against Palestinians are profiled as criminals.

The double governance standards are duplicitous and hypocritical. Effectively, Brits who support Palestine have been demonised and discriminated against in a two-tiered system of rights.

Protesting for the respect of international law and an end to apartheid policies and colonialist occupation are legitimate political expressions.

For any country claiming to be democratic, the right to protest against Israeli colonisation and apartheid policies should not be a privilege nor the reserve of those allied with the government; it should be a fundamental right for all citizens.

If Braverman’s threat against the supporters of justice in Palestine materialises, it will restrict the range of free speech or what is ‘acceptable’ speech. In the future, the government will dictate the right to freedom of expression to exclude human rights violations.

Throughout history, the right to freedom of expression by civil society has been instrumental in checking the power of governments, as well as redressing violations, injustices and transgression.

Freedom of expression and the right to protest allowed the British public to be at the forefront of helping dismantle apartheid South Africa and winning women the right to vote. Today, protests are a key avenue for demanding climate justice, supporting the Black Lives Matter movement, challenging social inequality, and more.

But now, the right to freedom of speech is now in danger. Human Rights Watch has warned that because of human rights abuses in the UK, there is a “shrinking of civic space”.

In 2023, the international organisation Civicus Monitor, which tracks democratic and civic health, downgraded the UK’s civil liberties rating from “narrowed” to “obstructed”, the same league as Russia.

The criminalising of the right to express our opinion will push political activists and protesters underground. It will erode an avenue to vent differences and threaten the safety valve mechanism within a democracy that helps to curb violent action.

Today, the threat from the government is to deter the British citizens from standing in solidarity with Palestine and demanding an end to the Israeli occupation. In the process, they are silencing citizens, inflaming community tensions, ruthlessly eliminating the right to dissent and subverting democratic principles.

If they are successful, our government will become emboldened to legislate against the right to expression against any human rights violations that the British government wishes to support abroad or at home.

    The Global South is Lost

One unanticipated outcome of the recent flareup in the Middle East is that it appears to have put the final nail in the coffin of the Clown World Order by making it clear that the so-called “rules-based order” does not actually have any genuine principles or rules, thereby ensuring widespread global preference for the sovereign nations of the Multipolarity over the Imperial USA and its occupied satrapies.

Attempts by the US and its allies to “paint Moscow as a global pariah” have been “poisoned” by the rush to support Israeli retaliation against Hamas in Gaza, the Financial Times reported on Wednesday, citing more than a dozen officials.

“We have definitely lost the battle in the Global South,” one senior G7 diplomat was quoted as saying. “All the work we have done with the Global South [over Ukraine] has been lost… Forget about rules, forget about world order. They won’t ever listen to us again.”

“What we said about Ukraine has to apply to Gaza. Otherwise we lose all our credibility,” the official added. “The Brazilians, the South Africans, the Indonesians: why should they ever believe what we say about human rights?”

West ‘lost’ Global South over Israel, Financial Times, 18 October 2023
Now, this is apparently shocking news to the inhabitants of Clown World as well as its rulers, but it was always inevitable. The “Israel exception” to decades of baseless assertions about democracy and human rights and respect for indigenous peoples was never going to survive the Internet anyhow, nor was “the plight of the poor, oppressed Jewish people who never did nothing bad to nobody” ever going to cut any ice with anyone but high-trust, soft-hearted ignoramuses with no sense of history.

And it’s a particularly bad look for Israel to be observed to be “defending itself” by continuously expanding its territory. Considering that a significant percentage of the Global South has historical experience with violent colonization of its ancestral lands, it should not be much of a surprise that there is a natural tendency for those nations to instinctively side with the Palestinians. Indeed, those who are old enough will recall how many US-resident Jews vehemently supported the blacks in South Africa on much flimsier historical claims than those presently possessed by the Palestinians.

image54 1 - Israel land grab law 'ends hope of two-state solution'

But as the Financial Times points out, it is the juxtaposition of Clown World’s position on the Russia-Ukraine situation with it’s position on the Israel-Palestinian situation that has probably been the most harmful to its credibility in the eyes of the Global South. Ukraine’s crimes against the Russians in the Donbass, and the 14,400 Russians killed there between 2014 and 2022, far exceed the various crimes committed by Hamas in the same timeframe, and yet the global media has spent the last 19 months relentlessly decrying Russian actions that have been considerably more restrained, given Russia’s capabilities, than the total ethnic cleansing or even extermination of the Palestinians now being threatened all over social media in response to a single Hamas raid.

Clown World is deranged and dying. One hopes the Great Powers of the Multipolarity will use their power and influence in a more circumspect and generally beneficial manner once it is gone.

    Setup for a Showdown

Russia responds to the US Navy’s provocative move into the Mediterranean

As the Israel-Gaza conflict escalates, with the expected involvement of various regional powers, the inclusion of global ones after the United States sent a massive naval force to the Eastern Mediterranean was guaranteed. And indeed, this now includes Russia which decided to send its superfast, high-flying MiG-31 jets to patrol the Black Sea. Namely, on October 18, Russian President Vladimir Putin publicly announced that Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) will deploy MiG-31K/I (interceptors modified into strike fighters) armed with 9-A-7660 “Kinzhal” air-launched hypersonic missiles (usually given the unconfirmed Kh-47M2 designation) in response to large-scale US naval deployments. Although this doesn’t immediately indicate that the jets are on combat duty to tackle the possible involvement of US forces, the “Kinzhal’s” range and speed are more than enough to jeopardize American assets.

With the USS “Dwight D. Eisenhower” Nimitz-class supercarrier (CVN-69) joining the USS “Gerald R. Ford” (CVN-78), the US Navy now operates two carrier strike groups (CSGs) in the Eastern Mediterranean. Combined, both vessels can carry up to 180 aircraft, in addition to other ships escorting them as part of the CSGs. This massive force is a threat to Russian allies in the region, particularly Syria, and by extension, Moscow’s forces deployed in the Middle Eastern country.

The MiG-31s armed with “Kinzhals” and flying over the Black Sea cover the entirety of the Eastern Mediterranean without going anywhere near American CSGs. Namely, although estimates vary significantly, the “Kinzhal’s” range is up to 2000 km, meaning that the MiG-31K/I strike fighters are capable of launching the hypersonic missiles well beyond the range of any US ship-based air defenses, interceptors or similar assets.

It should be noted that the US Navy also sent the USS “Bataan” (LHD-5) Wasp-class amphibious assault ship with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (SOC – Special Operations Capable) and additional naval forces.

The USS “Bataan” can also carry up to 20 aircraft, further reinforcing the already massive US presence in the area. In addition, the 26th MEU has at least 1600 marines, although its full combat strength is up to 2400. Apart from these, the Pentagon deployed other assets such as the A-10 “Thunderbolt II” attack jets, F-15E “Strike Eagle” strike fighters, as well as the B-1B “Lancer” long-range bombers. The latter were sent from their home base in Texas on October 12 and forward deployed to RAF (Royal Air Force) Fairford airbase in the United Kingdom. From there, “Lancers” could launch strikes against targets across the Middle East and elsewhere, jeopardizing at least half a dozen countries in the region.

As previously mentioned, all of the aforementioned assets are a threat to Russian forces deployed in the area, as well as to Moscow’s allies, particularly Syria. It should be noted that the forces Washington DC sent so far are absolutely unnecessary against Hamas.
This underlines expectations that the Middle East will be the second front in WWIII. Most of the US forces arriving in nominal support of the incipient Israeli offensive in Gaza – and quite possibly Syria and Southern Lebanon as well – are not only useless against Hamas, but against Hezbollah as well.

Since Russians have resolutely refused to directly engage the NATO in Ukraine, it appears that the neoclowns are determined to find a way to provoke them into open war in a manner that they can’t resist.

image55 1 - Israel land grab law 'ends hope of two-state solution'

When military leaders make their final, fatal mistake, it is usually the sort of action that has hitherto been very successful for them. The cautious leader fails to act when he must, the aggressive leaders bites off more than he can chew. Israeli officers are indoctrinated in the romance of the bold and daring stroke that wins the war, and revere aggressive generals like Dayan, Sharon, and Patton. This is why I am beginning to suspect that instead of simply beginning the ground offensive in Gaza, we’re going to see a bigger, more comprehensive attack on two or more fronts that is intended to catch Iran, Syria, and Hezbollah by surprise.

The presence of the US military would be to ensure that the IDF holds its gains by keeping Iran and Russia from defending their allies. I tend to doubt, however, that the US forces still command the respect that used to render them such a compelling deterrent.

    Another update

    Even Clownocrats Resist

You know Clown World has gone too far in its slavish obedience to the neoclowns in Washington when even EU bureaucrats are openly criticizing its unelected leadership’s overt hypocrisies with regards to Ukraine and Gaza.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen is turning a blind eye to Israel’s “war crimes” in Gaza, hundreds of EU staffers wrote in a letter circulating within the bloc’s institutions, the Irish Times reported on Friday.

The European Commission is giving a “free hand to the acceleration and legitimacy of a war crime in the Gaza Strip,” the letter signed by 842 people states. It was reportedly circulated among diplomats and staffers at the Commission and other EU bodies.

While the missive opens with a condemnation of Hamas’ attack on Israel earlier this month, it follows with an “equally strong” condemnation of what the writers describe as “the disproportionate reaction by the Israeli government against 2.3 million Palestinian civilians trapped in the Gaza Strip,” accusing von der Leyen of a “double standard.”

The letter claims she “completely ignored” Israel’s blockade stopping water and fuel from reaching Gaza, while noting that she described an “identical act” by Russia as “terror.”
The recent observations by the Financial Times were dead-on, except it’s not just the Global South that is being lost by the USA. There are massive demonstrations in support of Palestine all across Europe, from the UK to Spain, and it isn’t just the Muslim migrants taking part either. Only the media and the fully-owned politicians are supporting Israel now, and Israel hasn’t even entered Gaza in force yet. EU staffers are the most genuinely true-believing of all the various clowns around the world, and yet the complete 180 that has been performed regarding their most strongly-held principles is proving too much even for them.

There is absolutely no support for the USA’s rush to war anywhere in Europe, and it won’t surprise me if the situation has a significant effect on the next round of elections. No one wants war in the Middle East, but if it comes, the Europeans will be heavily in favor of Iran and the Palestinians. So much so, in fact, that might even serve to effect a rapprochement with Russia.

One factor of which most Americans are unaware is that the Europeans will not break economic ties with China. They simply can’t afford to do so, and they know that following the USA’s lead on Russia has harmed their economies more than they ever imagined possible. So it appears various forces are gathering for a crisis in US-European relations.

Meanwhile, the Pentagon continues to plunge headlong into another neocon war for which it has no support beyond Ben Shapiro, Mark Levin, and the ADL, and which it is likely to lose in a catastrophic manner.

Following detailed discussions with President Biden on recent escalations by Iran and its proxy forces across the Middle East Region, today I directed a series of additional steps to further strengthen the Department of Defense posture in the region. These steps will bolster regional deterrence efforts, increase force protection for U.S. forces in the region, and assist in the defense of Israel.

First, I redirected the movement of the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group to the Central Command area of responsibility. This carrier strike group is in addition to the USS Gerald R. Ford Carrier Strike Group, which is currently operating in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea. It will further increase our force posture and strengthen our capabilities and ability to respond to a range of contingencies.

I have also activated the deployment of a Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) battery as well as additional Patriot battalions to locations throughout the region to increase force protection for U.S. forces.

Finally, I have placed an additional number of forces on prepare to deploy orders as part of prudent contingency planning, to increase their readiness and ability to quickly respond as required.

I will continue to assess our force posture requirements in the region and consider deploying additional capabilities as necessary.

Re: Israel land grab law 'ends hope of two-state solution'

    Salaam

Zios and their machiavellian politcal games.

For years, Netanyahu propped up Hamas. Now it’s blown up in our faces

The premier’s policy of treating the terror group as a partner, at the expense of Abbas and Palestinian statehood, has resulted in wounds that will take Israel years to heal from

For years, the various governments led by Benjamin Netanyahu took an approach that divided power between the Gaza Strip and the West Bank — bringing Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas to his knees while making moves that propped up the Hamas terror group.
The idea was to prevent Abbas — or anyone else in the Palestinian Authority’s West Bank government — from advancing toward the establishment of a Palestinian state.

Thus, amid this bid to impair Abbas, Hamas was upgraded from a mere terror group to an organization with which Israel held indirect negotiations via Egypt, and one that was allowed to receive infusions of cash from abroad.
Hamas was also included in discussions about increasing the number of work permits Israel granted to Gazan laborers, which kept money flowing into Gaza, meaning food for families and the ability to purchase basic products.

Israeli officials said these permits, which allow Gazan laborers to earn higher salaries than they would in the enclave, were a powerful tool to help preserve calm.
Toward the end of Netanyahu’s fifth government in 2021, approximately 2,000-3,000 work permits were issued to Gazans. This number climbed to 5,000 and, during the Bennett-Lapid government, rose sharply to 10,000.

Since Netanyahu returned to power in January 2023, the number of work permits has soared to nearly 20,000.
Additionally, since 2014, Netanyahu-led governments have practically turned a blind eye to the incendiary balloons and rocket fire from Gaza.

Meanwhile, Israel has allowed suitcases holding millions in Qatari cash to enter Gaza through its crossings since 2018, in order to maintain its fragile ceasefire with the Hamas rulers of the Strip.
Most of the time, Israeli policy was to treat the Palestinian Authority as a burden and Hamas as an asset. Far-right MK Bezalel Smotrich, now the finance minister in the hardline government and leader of the Religious Zionism party, said so himself in 2015.

According to various reports, Netanyahu made a similar point at a Likud faction meeting in early 2019, when he was quoted as saying that those who oppose a Palestinian state should support the transfer of funds to Gaza, because maintaining the separation between the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank and Hamas in Gaza would prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state.

While Netanyahu does not make these kind of statements publicly or officially, his words are in line with the policy that he implemented.

The same messaging was repeated by right-wing commentators, who may have received briefings on the matter or talked to Likud higher-ups and understood the message.

    https://www.timesofisrael.com/for-ye...-in-our-faces/

    At least its been acknowledged.

UN report: 80% of Gaza inhabitants relied on international aid before war

Unctad outlines conditions last year, with unemployment rate of 45% one of highest in world

Israel’s blockade hollowed out Gaza’s economy and left 80% of its inhabitants dependent on international aid even before the current crisis erupted, the UN has said.

In a report outlining conditions in the Palestinian territory last year, the UN Conference on Trade and Development (Unctad) said two-thirds of Gaza’s population was living in poverty, while its unemployment rate of 45% was one of the highest in the world.

Unctad said a “decades-long” blockade had taken a heavy toll on Gaza’s economy, and that the aid flows that had helped underpin living standards for a population of just over 2 million people had dried up.

The report was prepared by the Geneva-based body before Hamas militants attacked southern Israeli communities on 7 October, killing 1,400 people and taking 222 hostages into Gaza. The subsequent Israeli bombardment of the territory has damaged infrastructure and led to fresh economic disruption, while more than 5,000 Palestinians have been killed.

Unctad said: “The result of the restrictions and closures and military operations has been the suppression of investment and productive activities and the collapse of the economy of Gaza, as well as its separation from the world and the rest of the Palestinian economy in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

“Unctad has noted that the blockade, frequent military operations and restrictions on the entry and exit of people and essential goods have stifled the economy, impeded access to health and other essential services and undermined the living conditions of more than 2 million Palestinians.”

The report said conditions were worse in Gaza than for Palestinians living in the West Bank, with a 65% probability of being poor, a 41% probability of dropping out of the labour force in despair, and for those looking for work, a 45% probability of being unemployed. Living standards – as measured by gross domestic product per head – were 27% lower than they were in 2006.

“The restrictions on movement also impede access to health and other essential services, as 80% of Gazans depend on international aid. Living in Gaza in 2022 meant confinement in one of the most densely populated spaces in the world, without electricity half the time, and without adequate access to clean water or a proper sewage system.”

Unctad said in the past donor aid had helped “soften the impact of occupation”. However, in 2022 the Palestinian government received only $250m (£206m) in donor budget support and $300m for development projects – down from a total $2bn in 2008. As a share of GDP donor aid had fallen from 27% to 3% since 2008.

Unemployment remained high at 24% across the occupied Palestinian territories, with rates of 13% in the West Bank and 45% in Gaza. Women and young people were the hardest hit, the report said.

“Since June 2007, Gaza suffered several military operations and has been under a land, sea and air closure,” Unctad said. “Gazans need permits to move in and out of the strip through two land crossing points controlled by Israel.

“Restrictions on the movement of people and goods, destruction of productive assets in frequent military operations and the ban on the importation of key technologies and inputs have hollowed out Gaza’s economy.”

Cog Re: Israel land grab law 'ends hope of two-state solution'

    Salaam

More on Israel failing hasbara. Interesting how more and more Americans dont want to get involved.

    The Rage is Boundless

I don’t mean to elevate the blood pressure of anyone who is reading alternative media, but I fear it has been reliably reported on social media that new Hamas outrages have been discovered.

    • Hamas hands Israeli babies bottles but they are actually dynamite sticks painted to look like bottles, and they explode after the babies realize the fuse is lit.
    • Hamas paints walls to look like tunnels and then makes Israeli babies drive into the walls thinking it was a road the whole time.
    • Hamas puts Israeli babies on see-saws and then drops anvils on the opposite side, launching the Israeli babies into the stratosphere.

There is only one solution to these unconceivable horrors committed by subhuman animals, and that is to send in every single soldier in the US Army and the US Marine Corps to genocide the entire Gaza Strip, West Bank, and the East Bank. Also, Syria, Iran, and southern… what the hell, all of Lebanon too. After which, gold-plated condominiums will be constructed, at US expense, to console the shattered survivors of these unprecedented outrages.

Anything less would be an anti-semitic hate crime. Write your congressman!

UPDATE: The media elites really don’t get it. The lack of self-awareness is astonishing.

Israel has made two major mistakes.

    • First, the goals of the war have been poorly articulated.
    • It has failed sufficiently to emphasize that an entire army of accomplices stands behind Hamas.

Why Israel is fast losing the public relations war, THE TIMES OF ISRAEL, 1 November 2023
The first point is relevant, the second one is not, but neither explain the global loss of sympathy for the Israelis in the aftermath of the October 7th attacks. The reason Israel is now losing the public relations war is because

    a) the response is observably and statistically disproportionate,
    b) the misguided attempt to capitalize on the initial world reaction through argumentum iniuriae has failed due to both a lack of credibility and a complete failure to read the crowd
    c) the media narrative contradicts the Ukraine media narrative of the last 20 months, and
    d) neocon + ADL overreach.

    https://voxday.net/2023/11/01/the-rage-is-boundless/

Just an example of Americans questioning the unconditional support for Israel.

A former top United Nations official in New York joins us for an in-depth interview about why he has resigned after publicly accusing the U.N. of failing to address what he calls a "text-book case of genocide" unfolding in Gaza.

Craig Mokhiber is a longtime international human rights lawyer who served as director of the New York Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights. His resignation letter has gone viral. In one of his first interviews since leaving his post, Mokhiber tells Democracy Now! the U.N. follows a "different set of rules" when addressing Israel's violations of international law, refusing to utilize its enforcement mechanisms and thus "effectively" acting as "a smokescreen behind which we have seen further and worsening dispossession of Palestinians." He says it is an "open secret inside the halls of the United Nations that the so-called two-state solution is effectively impossible," and calls for international actors to push for a "new paradigm" in the region based on "equality for all."

We also discuss the inaction of the International Criminal Court, global suppression of pro-Palestinian advocacy, bad-faith accusations of antisemitism and more.

We speak with Josh Paul, a former State Department official who resigned last month to protest continued arms sales to Israel amid its bombardment of Gaza, writing in a viral letter that one-sided U.S. support for Israel is “shortsighted,” “destructive” and “contradictory.” Media reports say many others inside the State Department are equally frustrated with the U.S. role in the conflict. Paul tells Democracy Now! he tried to raise his concerns with his superiors but found “no appetite for that discussion” and that unlike all other U.S. arms sales that take humanitarian concerns into account, Israel gets a blank check. Paul says the overall message inside the Biden administration is: “Don’t question the policy because it’s coming from the top.”

But the problem with all of this is that 'International Law' has always been applied rather 'selectively' as history has repeatedly shown.

The death toll in Gaza has reached above 10,000, yet the so-called international community, in reality, the Western nations, are deaf to the cries under the rubble. The Israeli war machine no longer worries about redlines as they act in complete impunity. If the hypocrisy of the West was not evident before this crisis, it is clear now that the Liberal World Order was never meant to safeguard the lives and honour of those it deems lesser people.

Amr Abdul Latif was, until recently, a resident and citizen of Gaza. He came to the UK to study for his postgraduate degree at St Andrews University and now works as a software developer. The Western press, even those that show little empathy, present the people of Gaza as lesser human beings who do not have dreams and aspirations.

Who are either to be pitied or presented as subhuman. I want to understand what life has been like since 2007, when Israel announced its siege and what the average Gaza actually believes.

As the Israeli war machine is in full motion, the position of the West lays bare the hollowness of its claims to observe international law. With every US-manufactured bomb dropped on Gaza, the vacuousness of its liberal world order is exposed to Muslims and the world. Yet what can we do about this situation? Lately, many governments have queued up to sign the so-called Abraham Accords with the apartheid state, and it has been concluded that the Arabs no longer care for the Palestinian cause. Today, we get a real feel for the ‘Arab street’ and what Palestine means to Muslims in the region.

It is easy to feel a sense of gloom. The world has come together against us. Some, particularly those who are not tested like the Palestinians, may even have doubts about their Islam – impacting their basic iman. Some call for compromise with the perpetrators or, worse still, call for normalisation. We explore the concepts and emotions that form the backbone of what it is to be a believer.

Our guest this week is Dr Kamal Abu Zahra is a lecturer in Islamic studies and in Islamic law who has an expertise in the contemporary fiqh

One month since the launch of Operation Al-Aqsa Flood on Oct. 7, the Israeli military has slaughtered more than 10,000 Palestinians, including over 4,000 children. International condemnation is growing, with multiple governments withdrawing their ambassadors from Israel and organizations around the world calling for Israel's leaders to be prosecuted for war crimes.

In an Oct. 28 resignation letter, Craig Mokhiber, former Director of the New York Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, noted that there is "no room for doubt or debate" that the Israeli government is intentionally perpetuating a genocide of the Palestinian people with the support of the US, EU, and other international actors.

Drawing on his decades of experience as a war correspondent and years living in and reporting on Gaza, Chris Hedges joins The Marc Steiner Show to discuss Israel's endgame: the full elimination and depopulation of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip and eventually the West Bank.

Since we last spoke to Sami Hamdi, a lot has happened in the ongoing Gaza slaughter. Israel has finally moved its ground operations into Gaza, and their Western backers have set down their intention to provide diplomatic cover to their settler offshoot and shield it from criticism.

Western leaders have had to defend the indefensible as Israel's punitive and indiscriminate action continues. For example, Ursula Vonderlyen, the President of the EU Commission, just yesterday sent out a tweet at a holocaust memorial saying never again.

Yet, the day before, she met with an Israeli official and gave her undying commitment to his cause, such is their barefaced duplicity.

Calls for a ceasefire have been vetoed at the UN, and the West accepts no liability for the thousands murdered in cold blood. It is truly astonishing to see how liberals on both sides of the Atlantic have confirmed what most of us have known for a long time: that their so-called rules-based international order is set up to cover their brutality.

It is not that they kill civilians without any recourse to humanity. It's that they openly declare their mass murder with knowledge of impunity. The West has given them diplomatic cover to engage in slaughter without red lines. This is truly an age of impunity.

And for those who dont get the message, Bibi spells it out.

    The perspective from Iran.

Though the northern border is tense.

From the rulers perspective. Whats interesting is that their supporters dont even bother anymore to mask their intentions.

And from a 'neo trad' perspective. This is appalling.

    More comment.

Not understanding one's foes and enemies - having a superficial perspective limited by GDP, a short term perspective led to the Great Arab Normalization which merely empowered and legitmized the most obscene forms of Jewish Zionism that sees all Arabs and Muslims worthy of herem

Schmittian loss coinciding with a vaccum in the Sunni world after the collapse of the Ottomans - to those who normalized unwittingly with those wishing for Muslim genocide know too the Hindutva in India pursue the same aims with Akhand Bharat

This was not pragmatic - everyone reports that this was pragmatic, "deal of the century" - at best this was naive starry eyed neoliberal idealism of the highest order

Muslims of a secular persuasion wishing to transcend pan-Islamic considerations, either working actively against it, wishing to dissolve it or bypass it forget that our enemies take pan-Islamic considerations seriously even if you do not & funnily enough include all Muslims in it

This applies not just to Arabs pursuing normalization - it applies to Pakistanis, Turks and wherever this misguided sentiment arises amongst secular elites in the Islamicate
And of course always learn from history.

    Selam aleikum.

I just wanted to add my 2 cents.

The title does not make Any sense whatsoever.

The illegitimate state of Israil never planned a two state solution.

It was a lie all along to keep everyone complacent
