Like the US, Israel has some interesting characters in its government. One such person is Knesset member May Golan. Golan made headlines more than a decade ago with racist comments. According to the British newspaper The Guardian:
“Golan made a political name for herself by denouncing African refugees in Israel, calling them ‘Muslim infiltrators’, criminals and rapists. She said many have Aids, suggested they were spreading HIV by working as waiters, and demanded they be expelled from the country.”
“‘If I am racist for wanting to defend my country and for wanting to protect my basic rights and security, then I’m a proud racist,’ she said at a political rally in 2013 as a member of the far-right Jewish Power party, a descendent of the Kach party that was outlawed under Israeli anti-terrorism laws.”
Racism against darker-skinned Jews in Israel is nothing new. More recently, Golan made alarming comments in reference to Gaza during a Knesset meeting on February 21, 2024:
“I am personally proud of the ruins of Gaza and that every baby, even 80 years from now, will tell their grandchildren what the Jews did.”
First off, don’t blame this genocide on Jews. The Israeli military and Israel government (namely, the right-wing Likud Party) bear primary responsibility for this, as do Zionists of any faith along with countries like the US and UK that provide the diplomatic and military support required to carry out a genocide with impunity.
But don’t you worry, Ms. Golan. We are indeed telling the world what Israel is doing. And decades from now, we will continue to tell the horror stories that Israel is writing.
Israel seem to use the words of Herman Goering, one of the leaders of the Nazi party. At his trial after the war, Hermann Goering explained how easy it is to manipulate people. Here is what he said…
Why of course the people don’t want to go to war. Why would some poor slob on a farm want to risk his life in a war when the best he can hope for is to come back to his farm in one piece.
Naturally the common people don’t want war, neither in Russia nor in England nor in America, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood.
But after all it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether in a democracy, fascist dictatorship or a parliament or a communist dictatorship.
Voice or no voice the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for a lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.
Herman's words are scary, because we see them used by our leaders today. Bush, Blair, Putin seem to use this same manipulation too.
Israel suffered a genocide in the past, I can't understand why they would do the same to another nation.
We can only pray for peace and justice for all people.
