Sometimes I run across something so good that the work is basically done for me. It couldn’t have been scripted better. It’s even better than a Freudian slip.On February 20, 2024, there was yet another attempt in the UN Security Council to put forth a resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. This resolution was presented by Algeria. Thirteen of the 15 UNSC members voted in favor of the resolution, while the UK abstained. As everyone expected, the lone “No” vote was the US.The US Ambassador assigned to do the dirty work this time was Linda Thomas-Greenfield. In her address after the vote, she stated:“We intend to do this the right way, so that we can create the right conditions for a safer, more peaceful future, and we will continue to actively engage in the hard work of direct diplomacy on the ground until we reach a final solution.”The “right conditions” for what? A “peaceful future” for whom? And a “final solution”? Come on. Who wrote this speech for her? They’ve got some sense of humor.---Originally posted on https://maximumintifada.wordpress.com/
