A Call for Coexistence .. By Amr khaled

    Episode 1

In the name of Allah, the All-Merciful, the Ever-Merciful. Peace and blessings of Allah be upon Prophet Muhammad (SAWS).

If we look around us, we’ll identify many problems; problems between our countries, problems between us as Muslims. All these problems have brought us here today with an initiative for coexistence.

For example, in Iraq, thousands are being killed and I am not talking about occupation but I mean because of sectarian differences. The same is happening in Palestine. I know that there could be external powers involved in Iraq and Palestine, but at the end of the day, if we learn to live with each other in peace, no one will be able to influence us that way. Even in Lebanon that used to be a token of love between the different sects! Their differences were the source of their welfare! But now they have started to clash. In Darfur (in Sudan), I was under the impression that all these killings were between Muslims and non-Muslims, until I woke up to the realization that they are all Muslims! I realized that all over the Arab world, we have a big problem in agreeing with each other! You might think that this program is a political one! But in fact, it is not.

Look at our homes! Parents and children are living in separate islands. Divorce rates are escalating drastically. Look at the youth! They can’t find anyone to talk to. Consequently they have isolated themselves, resorted to drugs and from there they are headed to extremism, delinquency and corruption.

In our schools and universities, there is no dialogue between the teacher and the student. The courts are so full of cases arising from nothing but disputes and clashes. Even in the mosques, we had the hearts to start fights and clashes! The concept of coexistence is not taught in our schools or universities. How come we never find courses on communication skills? I haven’t heard of a Friday sermon that tackled this topic before. I haven’t heard of bedtime stories or board games having this issue as their main theme.

The concept of teamwork is utterly missing from our industries, companies, universities, and scientific research. In Europe the companies are merging for added power while we are being scattered around. But when it comes to us, we can’t work with each other.

Even the Muslims living in the West have isolated themselves; refusing to coexist with the new society that surrounds them. We need to offer them a way in which they can smoothly integrate with the societies they are living in, without dissolving or losing their identity.

Let’s imagine that this is the circle of my thinking and this is the one of your thinking. If we keep away from each other, the two circles will always be distant. But if I want to be successful I always have to work on the common overlapping area. Let us work on enlarging it. A scholar once said, “Now I can see clearly because I have mounted everybody’s shoulders the day I heard everybody’s opinion.”

    What is coexistence?

There are two objectives for this program. The first one is to instill the idea of coexistence. The second objective is to provide you with the needed skills to achieve coexistence. Whenever I use the term “the other” people instantly jump to one conclusion that I’m only talking about the West. No!! Psychologists tell us that “the other” is a term used by people from their early childhood, when they started coexisting with all the external factors surrounding us.

the first lesson Allah taught to all humanity was coexistence; if you (mankind) will descend to the earth, then you must learn how to live with each other. Allah says what can be translated as, “And recite to them the tiding of the two sons of Adam with the truth as they offered a sacrifice, (Literally: sacrificed an all-sanctified sacrifice) (and) it was (graciously) accepted of one of them and not (graciously) accepted of the other. One (of them) said, “Indeed, I will definitely kill you.” (The other) said, “Surely Allah (graciously) accepts only of the pious” (TMQ, 5:27). “The other” was used here though we’re talking about two brothers; each had his own way of thinking.

The one who is able to coexist is always a person who is self-confident, strong, open-minded and civilized. That’s why Islam is so open to the whole world, because it’s a profound religion and a complete way of life. It has all the factors that enable you to be a good Muslim, yet at the same time so open to the other.

Coexistence does not mean dissolution, or loss of one’s identity, faith or character. Coexistence as a concept exists between two parties: both of them must interact mutually. Let me say this to the Western countries; you can’t enforce your culture on me and then expect me to coexist. You can’t enforce our youth to be a carbon copy of your own culture, and then ask us to coexist. You can’t occupy our country, and then ask us to coexist. We are calling for coexistence between two parties who respect each other’s wishes. This program will tell all the stories of coexistence throughout our history because I want all the youths to be proud of their identity. So coexist but never forget your roots. You have a global mission. You will be open to the whole world, yet proud of your own Muslim identity.

The Prophet (SAWS) taught us that the Muslim who interacts (i.e. coexists) with people and is patient in enduring their harm is better than the one who doesn’t interact and hence is not harmed by them. So don’t think that you are better because no one is harming you.

Coexistence is when we live with each other and accept each other for what we are. Coexistence is when we argue with each other and respect each other even in our differences. Coexistence is when we accept each other’s presence and establish common grounds even when we disagree.

What does Islam say about coexistence?

You’ll be proud to know what Islam says about coexistence. The first thing Islam teaches us is that it is not shameful that we are so different! It is a universal law since it is in our nature to be so different. The greatest creation made by Allah is the human mind. There is no way that all human minds can be identical. How come you accept that we are so different on the outside, yet you do not want to accept us being different in the way we think? Your son has to be different from you; he can’t be a carbon copy of you! If you believe in a certain sect or follow a certain school of thought, you can’t expect everybody else to be identical to you. If you accept this, then you have covered half of the way to overcome this problem.

Islam even says that these differences between us enrich our lives. Allah says what can be translated as, “…and We have made you races and tribes that you may get mutually acquainted” (TMQ, 49:13). This sentence “that you may get mutually acquainted” has a very vast meaning in Arabic that encompasses: exchanging benefits, getting along, making use of each other’s ideas and exchanging economic interests.

Allah says what can be translated as, “And help one another to benignancy and piety” (TMQ, 5:2). This ayah (verse) is not just for Muslims but for all mankind. Let’s help one another in combating the dangers of drugs, of the bird flu epidemic. The rest of the ayah says, “and do not help one another to vice and hostility” (TMQ, 5:2). So you can’t occupy my land, and then ask me to coexist with you.

The Islamic civilization reached its prime when different nationalities and backgrounds joined Islam. Had it not been for Andalusia, which had flourished at the hands of the Muslims, Europe would have never been what it is now. The United States is what it is now because of the various ethnicities and nationalities that have blended together.

I’m challenging all of the constitutions of the Western world to state a single phrase included in them that encourages their people to go and get acquainted with others. The only constitution that has such a phrase is the Qur’an. The West should not look upon us condescendingly saying that it was them who invented coexistence, because this is not true.

Look at this great ayah, “And if your Lord had (so) decided, He would indeed have made mankind one nation; and they do not cease differing (among themselves). Excepting the ones on whom your Lord has mercy, and He created them for that (end)…” (TMQ, 11:118-119). Another ayah that stresses this meaning, “And of His signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth and the differences of your tongues and colors. Surely in that are indeed signs for knowledgeable men” (TMQ, 30:22).

The Prophet (SAWS) depicts this concept by saying that Muslims, in their mercy and compassion, are like one whole body. If one organ is in pain the rest of the body will ache with fever and insomnia. The Prophet (SAWS) is giving you an example from your own body. A body has various organs each with a different function and different role, yet when they worked in union as a team they became like one unit.

The Qur’an is all in the form of a dialogue. It conveys the various dialogues between the prophets and their peoples. The Qur’an even conveys the dialogue of those who objected to Islam. Look at how many times you’ll find the word “they said” in the Qur’an!

Look at “Surat al-Baqara[1]”, which outlines the methodology of Islam, until it reaches the ayah[2] of “al-Kursiyy”, which presents the Islamic creed. The very following ayah starts with, “There is no compulsion in the religion” (TMQ, 2:256). So after placing the whole methodology between our hands, this ayah is stated to the effect that no one is obliged to take this method. “So whoever decides, then let him believe, and whoever decides, then let him disbelieve” (TMQ, 18:29). Everyone is left the choice to believe or not to believe.

Look at how the Qur’an talks about the common grounds in, “Say, “O population of the Book, (Or: Family of the Book, i.e., the Jews and Christians) come to a level word between us and you, that we worship none except Allah, and that we do not associate anything with Him, and that some of us do not take to themselves others (Literally: some “others”) as lords, apart from Allah”” (TMQ, 3:64). Look at how gentle is this ayah addressing non-Muslims, “And surely, either we or you (only) are indeed upon (right) guidance or in evident error” (TMQ, 34:24). So how about the dialogue between us Muslims!

Meditate this great ayah, “O you mankind, be pious to your Lord, Who created you of one self, and created from it its spouse, and from the two disseminated many men and women” (TMQ, 4:1). We all came from one source: Adam and Hawwa (Eve).

This is what unites us with each other.

Do you know what the Prophet (SAWS) did once he reached Madinah? He called for spreading peace and greetings, feeding the hungry, and observing kinship ties. The Madinah at that time was full of clashing tribes like: Aws and Khazraj. He fraternized between the Aws and Khazraj tribes. Next, he built the mosque where the whole society would gather. Then, he renamed the city of “Yathrib” to be “al-Madinah” meaning “The City” so as not to be attributed to any particular tribe. Then he issued a constitution addressing the Jews, the disbelievers, the Muslims and everyone, asking them all to live in peace. I don’t know of a constitution calling for coexistence, like the one made by the Prophet (SAWS) in Madinah.

To all those who are afraid of Islam, and to those who refuse to add religion in the syllabuses for fear of extremism, I want to suggest the exact opposite. I want you to teach them the real Islam so they know how to coexist. If you dread extremism; then teach your children proper Islam. I want to fulfill Allah’s saying, “so be pious to Allah, and act righteously among yourselves (Or: make a reconciliation after differences)…” (TMQ, 8:1).

The Prophet (SAWS) told us that thrashing out our differences and reconciling is even better than fasting, night prayer, and charity. By Allah, our intention from this program is, “Surely the believers are only brothers; so make a reconciliation between your two brothers, and be pious to Allah, that possibly you would be granted mercy” (TMQ, 49:10). The Prophet (SAWS) also told us that things that cause strife between us, act like a “shaving” device that “shaves” our religion off, not our heads.

Allay says, “You have been the most charitable nation brought out to mankind…” (TMQ, 3:110). So I’m proud of that, but at the same time I’m capable of coexisting.

The relation between coexistence and development

Let me ask you this: How can we propose to develop ourselves while we can’t even coexist? It would be a catastrophe. If I want to establish development, then why don’t I build over what I have? I want to tell you a nice story about a boat that was in the sea, in a place where the sea meets with the river. The fishermen wanted some fresh water desperately. They signaled a faraway ship sailing to the west to send them some water. The captain told them, “Are you asking us for fresh water when it is right under you!” And I’m saying the very same thing: the fresh water is right there with us; our history.

Honestly I have to tell you that right now there are some who are trying diligently to drive us all back into wars and strife; to the times of the crusades because they want to sell weapons and make fortunes. So instead of hostility we’ve come to propose Islam’s viewpoint. The first ayah that comes in the Qur’an addresses the Lord of the worlds, “Praise be to Allah, The Lord of the worlds” (TMQ, 1:2), and the last ayah in the Qur’an addresses the Lord of mankind! , “Say, “I take refuge with The Lord of mankind” (TMQ, 114:1). Hence, the Qur’an is a universal book. So be open, coexist without dissolving or losing your faith.

    Overview of the coming episodes

Starting next episode we will be telling you the stories of the four Imams (Islamic scholars): ash-Shafe’yy, Abu-Hanifa, Malik and Ahmad Ibn-Hanbal. We are not going to discuss them from the point of view of Islamic jurisprudence. We will focus on coexistence intertwined in the stories of the four Imams.

One last thing, if you want to interact with us then access our website www.amrkhaled.net after each episode. Post your comments, your criticism, and your objective views,

Finally, may the Peace of Allah be upon you all.

    Greetings and peace be with you mariam.;

Thank you for starting this thread. It should be very obvious to all of us that we are all created by the same God regardless of what we may believe. This should then give us a duty of care to look after all of God’s creation, meaning we should care for each other despite all our differences.

Do you know what the Prophet (SAWS) did once he reached Madinah? He called for spreading peace and greetings, feeding the hungry, and observing kinship ties.

    Mariam

I just wanted to say that I spend a lot of my time on this forum in the world affairs section. I frequently find people that make a lot of excuses (ie occupation, western influence, etc) and I just wanted to say that it really puts a smile on my face and gives me a renewed good feeling toward Islam when I read something like this. Rather than putting all of the blame on everyone else it seems as though the author is realizing that much of the problem (though not all) lies within Islam itself. Coexistence is the key word to all of these, no religion (to me at least) is right or wrong in my opinion, it is those that live their life righteously and follow God's will that are truly in touch with "religion". Anyways, I just wanted to thank you so much for your post it truly helped me to remember that the actions, voice or comments of a few definitely do not represent everyone and unless they are positive and truthful should be taken with a grain of salt. God bless you and everyone that thinks and believes what this post says, it reflects well on Islam and you for posting it.

Greetings and peace be with you mariam. Thank you very much for keeping this thread going.

Some how we all need to come to terms with the fact that other people will always have conflicting beliefs. Somehow we can still work towards justice for all people regardless of race, colour or creed. Some how we need to find ways of building multi cultural communities were we are all prepared to help each other despite our differences.

Above all else we need to understand that we are all created by the same God, and we are all a part of God’s wonderful creation.

In the spirit of praying for peace on Earth.

Eleven female students, including five Jewish, three Muslim, one Hindu, one Christian and a student who is agnostic, will live and study together this year at Jameson Residence Hall at Douglass College. Their goal: to learn about the Middle East and ultimately to improve Jewish-Muslim relations at Rutgers and beyond.

The new Middle East Coexistence House, which opened this month, is part of the Global Village of living-learning communities at Douglass. Designed to train ambassadors of peacemaking and conflict resolution, the house is built on the conviction that women bring special skills to the work of intercultural understanding – that, in fact, peace efforts in the Middle East will fail until women are at the table.

Danielle Josephs, a Douglass College senior, envisioned the house and proposed the idea to Carmen Twillie Ambar, dean of Douglass College. Josephs recalled the moment four years ago when the seed was planted. As a freshman in 2002, she wandered into a pro-Palestinian rally at Brower Commons on College Avenue. Behind the speaker was a banner that read, “Zionism is Racism.” She overheard someone in the crowd mutter, “Death to Jews.”

Josephs was chilled. The Teaneck native – whose father is Israeli, and mother, Jewish-American – determined then to do something about “the virulent hostility that I witnessed on campus between Jews and Muslims.” At first that conviction led her to join Jewish organizations and activities on campus; last year she was president of Rutgers Hillel. Meanwhile, open animosity between Jews and Muslims on campus had quieted significantly. But Josephs felt it was an uneasy truce, and that the two groups still did not communicate well or understand each other.

Two years ago, Josephs approached Ambar with a proposal to create the Middle East Coexistence House. For Ambar, the timing was perfect. “Our living-learning communities synergistically link academic departments, centers and institutions, student and residence life, and the mission of the college to educate and offer special programs for women,” Ambar said. “So when Danielle Josephs came to me two years ago ... it was easy for me to say yes.”

Individually, the students are pursuing a wide range of academic studies, from political science to Middle Eastern studies to English literature. They gather in the residence hall lobby once a week for a class that covers the history, cultures, and current events in the Middle East. A conflict resolution class is taught by Miranda Vata, a doctoral candidate in global affairs at Rutgers-Newark of Albanian descent who lived through the civil war in the former Yugoslavia as a teenager.

Students do not hold back on hot-button topics in politics or religion, including the war in Iraq, the recent conflict between Israel and Lebanon, and tensions between the U.S. government and Iran. But they say they are learning to communicate respectfully. Nadia Sheikh, a sophomore from Weehawken, is pleased with the living arrangement, thus far. “Being a Muslim, I've been a little on the defensive since 9/11, she said. "But everyone is really battling to understand each other. Here, we have a chance to step out of our anger mode.”

The Middle East House is partly funded by the Associate Alumnae of Douglass College. Ambar and Josephs hope the house will become another example of successful living-learning communities that engage students in contemporary issues. The Middle East House follows the Human Rights House and the Lead House, both created in the last three years.

“Douglass College's history of successful living-learning communities of language and cultural houses goes back to 1922,” Ambar said. “But it was our notion that different types of communities would be needed in this new global era if we were going to truly prepare women for leadership.”

Barry Qualls, interim vice president for undergraduate education, agrees. “The Middle East Coexistence House is an example of the small learning communities that the university wishes to encourage across all of the campuses as part of the Transformation of Undergraduate Education,” Qualls said. “Douglass College has led the way in establishing these communities, and I look forward to seeing more of them.”

Considering how diverse our world is and how populated it is, I can only assume that we need a new prophet to insure the success of unifying the world in terms of peace and prosperity. Do not fear for I do not doubt that our god will forsaken us a new prophet is these ever dying and troublesome times.

Unless you are suggesting cloning, you cannot bring back the dead.

Allah can bring back dead, but the manner he does it is never actually understood or accepted. My idea is reicarnation. If you read the Koran it talks about a personal hell as punishment. What better personal hell than to relive on the same planet with more harsh and harsh torment as the ages progress in more troubling times. I consider that to be the best personal hell anyone could make. Earth = Hell? Makes sense to me.

So who is Jesus? Is he the reincarnation of anyone or is there something more to this story?

I know the man very well, more than I take credit and it would shock you personally if you knew who he was and who we will become or has become.

But we can rule out the obvious Earthly citizens that aren't Jesus.

    1) Anyone who is in power now is not the return of Jesus.
    2) Anyone who strongly follows a current faith (no matter how popular or unpopular it is) is not the return of Jesus.
    3) Anyone who has commit murder is not the return of Jesus.
    4) Anyone who seeks to destroy Israel or Palestine is not the return of Jesus.
    5) Anyone who truly believe the bible story of Jesus is not the return of Jesus.
    6) Anyone who doesn't consider the possibility of extraterrestrials is not the return of Jesus.
    7) Anyone who resembles entirely the image portrayed as Jesus never was Jesus and is not the return of Jesus.

The Return of Jesus will come from an unexpected event circling the return of God's Angels to the realm of man.

When that event occurs then the true Jesus will be made clear to all. But before that time only the seven statements above will give you a clear indication on who won't be the return of Jesus. But mark my words Jesus is already alive and walking amongst us, not as Jesus but still as a descendent of a Jew.

How do I know this? I don't know. I can't possibly be Jesus, I'm too unworthy and sinful. But I can tell you that the type of soul that I am offers me the ability to know hidden truth to events that will occur. I don't understand it myself. I only know who I am spiritually and what I am suppose to do in this life.

    Hello!

Hrm... in Islamic teachings Jesus (pbuh) never died.

And their saying: Surely we have killed the Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, the messenger of Allah; and they did not kill him nor did they crucify him, but it appeared to them so (like Jesus) and most surely those who differ therein are only in a doubt about it; they have no knowledge respecting it, but only follow a conjecture, and they killed him not for sure. Nay! Allah took him up to Himself; and Allah is Mighty, Wise.

    Qur'an 4:157-158

    Peace.

Everyone dies except for Allah. Allah is the only being that cannot die, because Allah is fully divine.

Jesus (or Yeshua, his real name) was a normal mortal being and mere prophet of god. Jesus has to die to be reborn or Jesus would age endlessly and tire greatly. Death as seen in koran or any faith is not as troublesome as you may believe. Remember you go to paradise after you die as long as you don't sin or don't sin enough to be put somewhere else. The place you are put in my opinion is just right back on earth to recycle to re-occurance of souls that exist on the Earth. Souls are recycled into new bodies or beings so that life may renew. By being put back on Earth, you encounter the same horrible fate over and over as seen in the Koran.

Therefore death is a release from pain rather than the mere greatest extent of pain. But the manner of which you die should be understood as the as perhaps being greatest extent of misery and pain. However, that depends on how you die not when you die. Death from being beheaded, hanged, shot, stabbed, or otherwise are extremely tormenting and can scar the soul as it passes on. It is because it scars the soul that it is understood to be a sinful practice. When you harm the soul, you are commiting a true sin. Something that can truly be called a sin and not by someone's interpretation of a sin.

But you must know that death by a natural means like old age is by far less tormenting and is appreciated as a means of ending the torment of life.

Anyways, Yeshua (Jesus) was a mortal man like Muhammad, the founder of the Bahai'i faith, Buddha, Krishna, Moses, Jerimiah, and other prophets.

There is more than one prophetic soul in existence, but there still remains less prophetic souls than prophets. I think there are only about 50 prophetic souls that had existed as mortal beings on this earth. Only a third of that amount have been expressed and recorded in history as being prophets, messiahs, demi-gods, gods, or apostles or as something else. All prophetic souls reincarnate and it is hard to say who they become in their next life.

For all we know, Muhammad could very well be the reincarnation of Jesus or the reincarnation of one of his apostles or the reincarnation of John the Baptist. But I do know that Muhammad, Jesus, and John the Baptist cannot be reincarnations of female souls. I do know there are two kinds of souls and they cannot reincarnate into a living person of the opposite gender. Jesus is very likely to be the reincarnation of Buddha, by the way. Reincarnation does not occur in the same manner that people believes it occurs under. Not all souls reincarnate, but most do.

Reincarnation presents the same souls under a different environment (perhaps very similar the one they were in) and therefore may be almost completely different to someone as they were before. Certain parts remain the same and do differ from every other soul. The part that makes them a prophet will always be the same. The strength of their prophetic ability will remain the same. If Jesus and Muhammad had the same prophetic strength, then they are one soul that had existed under two different periods of history. But their close association to language and culture will differ depending on how they were raised. They could also develope a mental illness as well depending on how they were raised. Many factors are important to understand as how a prophet is raised and becomes who they are in the next life. This is how and why I know that Jesus's next reicarnation will not associate him under the a current faith. Jesus is an individualist like Muhammad and therefore always establishes a new faith. This doesn't mean that Muhammad was the reincarnation of Jesus. It means that Muhammad and Jesus are prophetic souls with much in similarity. They could be very well one soul that existed under two different periods of history. But they could also be two souls that existed under similar conditions as two similar people but with some differences in two different periods in history. You could have both Muhammad and Jesus walking amongst us as two different people or as one person. It is your own belief to consider which is true between the two.

I do know that they reincarnate rather than continue to live in heaven, because they worry greatly about mankind. They worry greatly about their descendents and followers. All which they consider to be their children, but also children of Allah as they are children of Allah.

Also I do know that though there trillions among trillions of souls, there is still a definite number and that Allah will oppose making more souls. (Because it makes existence too over crowded than it already is) Allah perfers there to be more space for himself and for everyone else. Therefore than can only be a definite number of souls in existence.

This is more definitely a ton of information that is would be impropriate to show you in this fashion. But I believe most of you are mature enough to take in some of it and perhaps believe in it or find some new spark to your beliefs. There is still a number of you as in everyone like the times of Muhammad and Jesus that require that information to be processed slowly or from a younger age when you are more accepted of different ideas and beliefs. This is all up to you on how this information will be handeled and so I give it to you the right on how it will be accepted by the people on this planet. Choose wisely.

Re: A Call for Coexistence .. By Amr khaled

Everyone dies except for Allah. Allah is the only being that cannot die, because Allah is fully divine.
    welcome Mr.Darkseid on this thread:

We are as a moslems believe that Allah is the only being that cannot die, because Allah is fully divine as you said .. but we don't believe in metempsychosis as you do.

I believe that there is difference between us but that doesn't forbid me from regard your opinion.

The Prophet Mohammed (may God bless him and grant him peace) has revealed many important matters about Jesus' return, as well as some of the things that will happen before and after this event, in his hadiths. All of this information is from the "Unseen," and was given to him by God, as related in the following verse:

He [God] is the Knower of the Unseen, and does not divulge His Unseen to anyone - except a Messenger with whom He is well pleased, and then He posts sentinels before him and behind him. (Surat al-Jinn , 72:26-27)

Our Lord also reveals that He sent knowledge to Prophet Mohammed (may God bless him and grant him peace) in his dreams:

God has confirmed His Messenger's vision with truth: "You will enter the Sacred Mosque [Masjid al-Haram] in safety, God willing, shaving your heads and cutting your hair without any fear." He knew what you did not know and ordained, in place of this, an imminent victory. (Surat al-Fath , 48:27)

God gives such knowledge to our Prophet (may God bless him and grant him peace) in order to help and support both him as well as all of the faithful believers who were with him.

Some of this revealed information deals with the signs of the End Times. The most significant of these revelations concerns Jesus' second coming. The hadiths about the End Times can be found in sahih (accredited) hadith collections such as Imam Nawawi's Riyadh as-Salihin, Imam Malik's Al-Muwatta', Ibn Khuzayma's Sahih, Ibn Hibban's Sahih, Ibn Ahmad Hanbal's Musnad, and Abu Dawud al-Tayalisi's Musnad. From these sources, we learn that the Prophet (may God bless him and grant him peace) made many important revelations about Jesus, all of which are considered tawatur (reliable).

The Prophet (may God bless him and grant him peace) reveals in his hadiths that religious morality will dominate the world; that peace, justice, and prosperity will prevail; and that this will be achieved by Jesus, who will unite the Christian and Islamic worlds. At present, many societies are under the influence of anti-religious philosophies, and the resulting models are obvious. Such problems as immorality, drugs, terrorism, and famine demand that Christians and Muslims join together to fight these problems on an intellectual level. The world's current social structure makes an alliance between Islam and Christianity inevitable. Considering Christianity's influence over the West and its leaders, the influence that an alliance between Islam and Christianity would have is clear enough for all to see.

iheader - A Call for Coexistence .. By Amr khaled

    Brotherhood of three religion:
As people who believe in God and follow His revelations, let us rally to a common formula - "faith". Let's love God, Who is our Creator and Lord, and follow His commands. And let us pray God to lead us to an even straighter path. When Muslims, Christians and Jews rally to a common formula this way; when they understand that they are friends not enemies, then the world will become a very different place.
The fighting that has raged for ages, enmities, fears - and terrorist attacks - will come to an end, and a new civilization based on love, respect and peace will be established upon this "common formula".

Re: A Call for Coexistence .. By Amr khaled

I'm sorry but Islam does not tell us to have union of faiths, the only way Muslims will accept this union of faiths is if we all unite under the religion of all the prophets, the religion of God, Islam. As Muslims we must believe that there is only one correct religion, there is no uncertainty about this.
As Muslims we must treat people who are not Muslim kindly and fairly, but we can not love them or take them as awlya' (close friends).
Our real friends are other Muslims.. chapter 5 verse 55-57 (( Your (real) friends are (no less than) Allah, His Messenger, and the (Fellowship of) Believers, those who establish regular prayers and regular charity, and they bow down humbly (in worship). [56] As to those who turn (for friendship) to Allah, His Messenger, and the (Fellowship of) Believers, it is the Fellowship of Allah that must certainly triumph. [57] O ye who believe! Take not for friends and protectors those who take your religion for a mockery or sport, whether among those who received the Scripture before you, or among those who reject Faith; but fear ye Allah if ye have Faith (indeed).))
Allah tells us chapter 60 verse 4 (( There is for you an excellent example (to follow) in Ibrahim and those with him, when they said to their people: "We are clear of you and of whatever ye worship besides Allah: we have rejected you, and there has arisen, between us and you, enmity and hatred forever, unless ye believe in Allah and Him alone"..))
Allah also warns us chapter 4 verse 51 (( O ye who believe! take not the Jews and the Christians for your friends and protectors; they are but friends and protectors to each other. And he amongst you that turns to them (for friendship) is of them. Verily Allah guideth not a people unjust))
