I did mean Javanese, not Japanese :)
Javanese population may be similar in number to Japanese population, as javanese are very likely undercounted in population census due to cross-marriages etc. There are 240 millions people living in Indonesia and half of them live in Java.
Are you familiar with Sun Microsystem's Java application?
Well, the name was based on cup of java (europeans and americans familliary refer to coffee as "java" ) as Java exported coffee in 17th century that was liked by europeans and the name stuck since.
However, among coffee connoisseurs today, java coffee is not even the best among Indonesian coffees. The best ones would be Kopi luwak and Toraja coffee and many others before Java coffee.

Not all people from Java island are Javanese. Java island consist of three regions, west, central and east. People from East Java, central Java, and small region in northeast of west Java are Javanese. But people from west Java are Sundanese.
I was born and living in Sundanese region, but I am not Sundanese. I am 7/8 Javanese and 1/8 Chinese. More Javanese than Chinese. But many people call me "koh/koko" means "brother" in Chinese language, because they regard me as Chinese.

Yes, originally via some line. I can with my family on one side, because it wasn't too long ago. Well, tbh I'm not sure for this exact group with this name, because I only came across it by googling.

Yes I agree,
I also heard there are like 80 languages in Philippines but only two are official: the Filipino or Tagalog and English.
Filipino is nearest to Spanish since Spaniard was in Philippines for 550 years and thus it was the official language of the country from 6th Century till 1987.
Daily conversation consist of atleast 40% Spanish words, perhaps 20% Malay, 10% Cantonese, Sanskrit, Gujarati & so much more.
For instance I understand a Spanish movie when they speak slowly, at the same time I can pick up Malay conversation but that doesnt mean I am fluent in any those.
Language can identify the ethnicity, given the above, many Filipinos have mixed up attitude, culture, belief etc...
IT'S NOT EASY TO KNOW ETHNICITY in this country.
Everything is mixed up and copied (culture, religion etc) which is the main factor why there is no cooperation, built brotherhood and peace in this country lol
everyone celebrates when its chinese new year, christmas or some buddhist event

My family tree traced back to Banu al-Najjar clan(uncles of the prophet's father) ,though we don't live in Saudi Arabia...

I just found out, uncle Woodrow chose "Other" not "Caucasian". I guess, that's "Native American".
Just like uncle Woodrow, if I am living in US I would close to Native American too. I grew up with cowboys movies, but in late of my teen age, "The Battle of Wounded Knee" opened my eyes and I began to have big sympathy to Native Americans.

I know European people consider Lithuanian as Mongoloid. But for Asian people like me, Lithuanians are white.

I often borrow Karl May's books from my elementary school library, those were thick books. But my view on Native Americans when I was kid was much influenced by "Rin Tin Tin" and Cowboys movies.

I judge people by only one thing: how they treat me. If they treat me with respect, then they receive the same in turn. If they disrespect me, then they get ignored.
I think that racism is a conspiracy encouraged by secular society and by Western governments. A populace divided against itself is easy to control. When people are too busy hating their neighbor because of skin color or religion, they won't stop to look around and realize that the government is the real enemy.

I meet someone this morning who greet me with:
"Happy new year"
It wondered me because new year has been passed almost a month ago. But suddenly I realized what he meant, the Chinese new year on 23 January 2012. So I asked him,
"Do you mean Imlek (Chinese new year)?"
"Yes, what you did to celebrate Imlek?"
"I did not celebrate Imlek. But I went out with my family yesterday"
He looked surprised, and he asked me again "Really?, you did not celebrate Imlek?"
I knew why he thought I celebrate Imlek (Chinese new year). Yes, although I am Javanese I have a little Chinese blood in me. But I wonder why many people are thinking I am a pure Chinese.
I have no problem if people are thinking I am a Chinese. I just wonder.

Even in India, i'm an outcast :D same as I am here in the UK... see, over here in the UK, I am seen as a "Paki" (yup, they pigeonhole us all together here) and everytime I went to India, I was that "British guy"... pfft. The only place I've ever truly felt at home, is in Madina and Makkah. No one cared what I was :) because I was (am) a Muslim.
My parents are from the Gujurat, near Bharuch... but even my parents don't like what has happened to the people in our locality in India. Bunch of lying, scamming, opportunistic (not is a good way) thieves, I tell you. Hence, my uncle and father often argue about who will go to India, because once there - it's pretty stressful for them. Home sweet home my left gluteus maximus :D

Is your "hispanic" heritage Mexican-American? I only ask because it is not unthinkable that people might think you have Chinese. A great many Mexican-Americans are mixed with Amerindian stock (unbeknown to them), and it shows up. It can sometimes give an asiatic look.

Hispanic. But since there is no Hispania, I'll be specific. Mom is from mid-southern Mexico (S.L.P) Her and her family are native Mexicans, yes with the feathers and all. ;D My dad's mother's family Is spanish, grandmother has the porcelain skin, blue eyes going on, but they settled in mexico when my grandmother married to a northern Mexican man, which would be my grandfather, he says his roots are Arab or Persian, he is not longer here so I can't clarify anymore. Looking at our surname, it would make sense that it's a persian root, since persians went to spain, and from spain to mexico. I've been asked many times if I speak farsi, cuz I look Iranian/Persian. So.....
I just say I'm Mexican if I'm asked. But I don't like to consider myself anything other than a Muslim, because I was raised in the states.... I don't look mexican, yet I'm fluent in spanish. Mexicans are not accepting, Americans are not accepting....The hijab makes everyone assume I'm from overseas so yeah. Identity crisis. :omg: I find it amusing to hear all the guesses of where I could be from every time I'm in public. Them hispanics assume i don't understand what they are saying. looooooool. ;)
I'm just muslim :D It may not be a race, but I follow islam, not some cultural tradition. That's peaceful to me.

Language of Qur'an is Arabic, not English. So, why Arabic Muslim forums are full of Arabs, not Pakistanis?.
Brother, do not say Pakistanis are practicing Islam better than other nationalities, or other nationalities practice Islam better than Pakistanis.
The reason why there are many Pakistanis in this forum is because this forum is English forum. And in average, Pakistanis can speak English better than Muslims from other nationalities. Even many Pakistanis in this forum actually are living not in Pakistan, but in English speaking countries.

Lol just made me smile and I hope you are joking or to me that so proud of you
The country we live in are full of Asians and Westerners. Nationals of this country are 1/3 compare to us (expats). This last 2 months we came across too many Pakistanis and if I will allow my temper to go I would hate all Pakistanis in the World loool
1. We moved to a new apartment and the last renter was Pakistani family, as courtesy we paid for them a month free rent and they would like to move in certain date and we gave them another week. We saw the apartment was soo messy as in so messy, like the trash they used for cooking for years are still in their kitchen. We requested them to clean as they moved out and sadly they didnt, my husband spent many days in Ramadan just cleaning it and its never ending. He was so mad and he told him,
this is not ISLAMIC at all, we were so kind to you and you left your trash to us???.... Not to mention there are so much Quran verses sticks in their wall, I wonder inside me how on earth they pray when their environment is so dirty?
Believe me when I see this apartment I didnt like it but hubby said size is so big i think each room is 5x5 so compare to other apartment 2x3, yes I finally agree... even he knew we will spend 1000$ just for painting etc, days after days we discover so much silly things like one water outlet is leaking like crazy and to close it or change the pipe will just cost 10$ but we beat its leaking for years
2. We needed new Split AC for one room (sadly this apartment is not central AC), we bought from One Pakistani Family a second hand Split AC as he advertised it is 1year used. So why not save more than 1/2 of the Price? When my husband arrange a day+time to pick it (his house is like an hour from us), he made my husband wait for hours and in the end didnt show up. So my patient husband come back some other day, when he hires a "Pakistani" shop to fix it, they asked for like 120$ (yeah this is the rate just to put in the wall lool), after fixing it he runs fast.
Well as we all didnt expect, the AC is scrap. it is not working at all, i informed the Seller and he wouldnt pick his phone
My husband tried to speak to him and he always shut the phone in his face, so as teaching of Islam, we must get our rights, he go to Police station just to give him a lesson and Police were contacting him and he wouldnt answer. He then told my husband, I didnt sell you something with Warranty so if its not working it is not my problem etc etc..
I told my husband to calm down and its okay, he tried his best and he didnt allow cheaters to go like that, now I convinced him we will return the AC to him and tell him "If you will return our money its good for you, IF you can eat from HARRAM, if you can feed your children+wife with HARRAM money, then be it, if Allah is not guiding you then who are we to do anything about it, you cannot escape we are all Muslims"
3. Back to the Pakistani Technicians, of course we hire them back to REMOVE the AC's and accidentally they spit in their mouth that this whole AC is not original, the original motor should be big and it is too small and he confirmed its not working. So my hubby got new surprises from Pakistanis and he said,
why you didnt tell us from the beginning???
I told him, perhaps he didnt tell coz he will loose the 120$...
4. This Pakistani Shop's stuff + owner are living in my Father in Law's apartment for years, and he was nice to all of them, he lend them 4 AC's instead they buy new ones and rent is so good. Father in law was so upset to find out about it. He wanted to take back the ACs perhaps just throw it away instead of being used by USERs and when he asked them hows the condition of ACs? Lool not to be so surprised, they changed the motors of this ACs and suddenly they said they are damaged etc dramas. They cant cheat my father in law, he is just over 55yrs old and his business are related to Electrical, Mechanical, tankers etcs so he knew when things are changed. Spare parts etc....
And what else is so surprising, my husband informed him the Seller is Pakistani like him and he said, Oh that is harram, okay then sell it to me 1/4 the price you buy it.
My husband laugh in bitterness, he said how on earth you can eat from HARRAM?
So yes, Pakistanis made us so angry but it didnt mean we hate Pakistanis, however it is lesson for us and reminder to be careful next time... we were just angry or upset that moment and its always good to remind ourselves, even if we loose or gain sometimes, nothing will change. We are who we are. 1Million dollars will not make us rich.
So I wonder what you mean by Pakistanis are more practising Muslims, even if someone prays so hard, only Allah knows and accept or denied our prayers/deeds. We can't be sure about it.

I know only two Pakistanis. Not Desi who live in other countries, but Pakistanis who live in Pakistan. And, ... they are good people.
I know them because their govt sent them to study in a govt institution in my city, and regularly they sent report to Pakistan's embassy through my courier agent.
The first Pakistani is the Smiling Pakistani. I call him like this because he always smile when he came to my office. Never forgot to say "Assalamualaikum" while raise his right hand, then shaking my hand. He is very friendly. He rented a house near my office with his family. After he finished his duty, he back to Pakistan.
His successor was coming alone and rent a room near my office. Different than the first Pakistani, he's a quiet man. But he's kind, polite, and really a typical of pious Muslim. Not just because he has long and thick beard, but because he often spent his time to read Qur'an in masjid.
Of course, not every Pakistani is good as them. But, every community has good people and bad people, not only Pakistan.

^ .. ^ I agree with comments above that no nationality is more pious than others, because Allah give his hidaya (guidance) to any one who seeks hidaya.
But I have to admit that Pakistanis are doing a good job for Islam MashaAllah. I mean they are everyware, especially in the west and they are attached to islam (at least those I knew). Add to that that many da'ees (preachers) in the west are Pakistanis (it seems to me that most of preachers in the west are from Pakistan or from India, with some arabs may be).

I have one question, why isn't Allah being fair to non-Muslims? Why isn't he opening their minds so that they can think and choose the right path?
Anyway on topic, I know that pakistanis are not that good, ive met some that are completely horrible and they didn't follow Islam at all, even though they were muslim by name. I really dont like my own people that much, but from what I see is that some Arabs don't really follow Islam either, I've met some complete moron who said he only respects the prophet for his idea and nothing else, he doesn't realize what the prophet went through and such.... And he even said the same thing about the Quran, he only likes the ideas, he doesn't realize it's a book of so much more.

We have free will. Islam in a sense that it is a way of life is known to non-Muslims, especially those in the West. Not many can say they never heard about Islam, but even then they've probably heard only lies about our religion. Most people in the West have heard of Islam at this point but instead of choosing to learn about the religion from actual Muslims and authentic sources, they actively choose to follow and recycle the lies and hatred that enemies of Islam put out there like mindless sheep. There is no excuse for this.
None is to blame for that but them. Western nations are literate. Most can't say they didn't learn about Islam because they couldn't read. We have libraries and access to history books here too. And there are masjids all over but they also chose not to go there and ask questions to learn the truth about Islam. It's laziness. I used to be in that category until I put my biases aside and searched about Islam on my own. Difference is that I asked God at the time to guide me to the truth and then I started learning about Islam after I left Christianity. Many non-Muslims just go off of what other people tell them about other religions without doing the research on their own, or they are arrogant in that they think they have the truth already and know better than their Creator.

In the past people said "Books are the window of the world". Now this proverb has been changed into "Internet is the window of the world". Internet allow me to see life in other places. But, there is a place that grab my attention and I often observe through internet. That is Pakistan.
I often watch videos and read news from Pakistan because I want to know further about its people. Luckily, like I've said, in average Pakistanis can speak English better than Muslim from other nationalities. So, they can write what's in their minds in English.
I learn much about their culture, their tradition, their character, their lifestyle, and their problems, that different than Indonesian and people in other nations.
There is proverb in my place "Lain padang, lain belalang. Lain lubuk, lain ikannya" (different field, different grasshoppers. Different pond, different fishes). It's means every place have its own people with their own uniqueness. And there is another proverb "Tak kenal, maka tak sayang" (Do not know, so do not love).
Okay, let me display surah Al-Hujurat: 13 as reminder
"O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted.
We are divided into many ethnics and tribes because Allah want we know one another, not insult one another.
I have an interest to know about other people in other places. This is one reason why I join in this international forum. And I feel happy here because I can know and meet people from other places, although only through internet.

It's Islam that keeps us all so united..Subhanallah!
Reminds me of this hadith..
“The believers in their affection, compassion and love for one another is like one single body. If a part of it suffers from pain, the whole body will suffer in pain.” (hadith narrated by Imam Muslim)

Jazak Allah Sister, if any one does not Eritrea it is where the first hajra happened in Islam. Eritrea is by the red sea although some people say that Habesha is Ethopia now, I really think it was our country as we are closer to Saudi, and even the thoughts that the sahaba may Allah be pleased with them passed my home land is great feeling. Anyway we use to be combined to Ethopia but we took our freedom allhmdu le Allah . Islam entered my country by dawa alone.

By the way, I live in Sundanese's region.

Why did you leave out Bengali if you were to include Pakistani and Indian
I had to choose other since you wouldn't include it even tho Bangladesh is part of South Asia too
