Wow, these stories are very interesting!
My Dad told me about Cat Stephens a while ago, and when I saw his pictures, I was like :O!
Islam is the way to go, in my school when they teach Islam in my class, some non-Muslims or Christians or whatever get quite interested in it. The media makes it harder for them to convert in my opinion, they take us as devils.

I completely agree, it takes a lot of comittment and an inner drive for a person to take such a bold step, the only way it can be initiated is by making him/her face the absolute reality, making them realize that its NOT just another way to salvation or just another way to life. It is THE ONLY true path to identify and embrace! Praise be to Allah

Preasts and Preachers enter Islam!

I'm not sure how Yusuf Islam, whose occupation (musician) is directly concerned with haraam activity, can be held up as some sort of inspirational figure for Muslims.

As far as I'm aware, he doesn't use musical instruments in his songs anymore. Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong. :)

This is no longer true. He did give up on instruments for a long time, but returned to them in 2006.

Here is a link to his website, where you can find out what he's up to now. It's also possible to find recent clips of him performing on YouTube. He has also written an article attempting to justify his use of instruments in the context of his belief in Islam. Let me know if it's OK to provide a link to that.

As a non-Muslim, reading these stories is inspiring. It seems that people from all walks of life are affected by Islam. What is it that draws so many to a religion they knew little about before they converted?

That's a very interesting question. Many people who convert to Islam often describe a feeling of 'returning home', as though they have returned to the natural path. This is supported by the Islamic concept of Fitrah which states that everybody is born with belief in the oneness of God (Tawheed - the very root of Islam) but it is only afterwards that they deviate from this belief.
