:sl: to our Muslims members, Peace to our non-Muslim members,

I notice that we have some members that spend a considerable length of time here daily.

I wonder if it is healthy for a person to spend that much time on the PC? How much internet per day is too much? Is there any harm in being addicted to a forum? Do some people hide from life by building up an artificial cyber-life on the PC?

lol ok i'll admit i am addicted to the computer
but theres nothing i can do about it :hmm:

plus if am not gonna be on the computer then i'd be clean the house soo er i'd prefer to be here instead

I wonder if it is healthy for a person to spend that much time on the PC?

- No.

How much internet per day is too much? Is there any harm in being addicted to a forum?

- Depends.

Do some people hide from life by building up an artificial cyber-life on the PC?

- Probably.

Just to give us all a chance to look at ourselves. It is possible to damage ones personal relationships by substituting the internet for real life. Hopefully, that is not happening here. But, if it is happening to any members i hope they can recognise it as a problem and regain control of their lives.

Forums can be a sort of home to some people. In many ways LI is my Islamic home as I have very little contact with Muslims in real life, where I now live. To a large extent this is my connection with the Ummah. However, the realities of life does limit when I can be online.

Perhaps, if it where possible for me to be on the PC whenever I wanted to be, I would develop an addiction. If that would be a healthy thing? I do not know.

:sl:

I am addicted my self, but i dnt have the time i once had to spent on the computer. So am buzy most of the time with real life, which is good in a way :) Balances it out.

:sl:

Well i never sign out so when i do actually come to the computer i can read my Pm's without having to sign in

only been here for 4months..i believe...and its actually been the best 4months ive had...relgious wise

plus i rather be here then watchin movies onlone...which is illegal and waste of my time..but when im on here i can truly say i never leave without having learned something new..

:w:

the subject was on my mind, thanks woodrow...
indeed, some members spend too much time here, it's certainly not healthy, but I think they might not have an alternative?

btw I usually come here when I'm bored:)
