Do you love this book or hate it?

Me, I think it's arguably King's best work.

But I haven't read any of The Dark Tower series.
I love it :D

He seems to churn out books on a massive scale. Allahu alam how he does it ^o)

Books I love:
The Art of War (funny how the book of war talks so much about how to have peace)
1984
Catcher in the Rye
Riders in the Dead
The Blind WatchMaker
The God Delusion
By Oak Ash and Thorn (on Celtic Druidishm/Shamanism)
Twilight book 4
hmmmmmmmmm many others

The French Revolution by Pierre Gaxotte, The Myths of civil war, Spain 1936-1939 by Pio Moa.

Would you recommend it? Theres a movie about it as well.

Yes but it is VERY long! It also needs patience to stick with because some parts I have to admit are very boring (most of the part in Rome). Otherwise I loved it. But it depends on the style of writing you enjoy I guess.

If you are going to read it, don't watch the film until after you've read it! They change everything, the ending is completely different and they make up rubbish!

I saw the film some time ago :-[

What are the changes?

At the moment i'm reading haven of Serenity. An Islamic book of many stories of the pious.

Wonderful MashaAllah.

They cut out more than half the story. Albert is not Edmunds son! I don't know what they were thinking. Edmun never had any pre-merital relations with his fiance in the book. Also, Edmund does not marry Mercedes in the end. She becomes a nun and he marries someone else.

I love to read Qisa-sul-Ambia & read history about islam;
Favourites are many....
I never ever think to hate any book regarding my subject or not...because,,, I think they are also a friend of us. If they easily understanable :-)

Whoa :muddlehea subhan Allah, sounds like they didn't follow the novel at all!

"I am Legend" was a great book. You really feel the protagonist's desperation and frustration in being the last man alive.

I saw this book on Amazon, it looked so tempting, I just might order it but my book list is soooooo long, and getting longer.

Salam,

At the moment I'm read 'Word Power Made Easy' by Norman Lewis, if anyone is interested in developing their vocabulary and sounding soo very sophisticated this book is for you. If you want to develop your word power and to be able to express yourself with words you know but struggle to get out there this book is for you. Even if your a know it all (mashallah), you will be pleasantly surprised.

I also recently read 'Enemy Combat' by our dear dear brother Mozam Begg. In this book he talks about his experiences in Guantanamo Bay (which I have to say were mind blowing), he also dedicates a few chapters about his life growing up in Birmingham, London and it was such a honour reading this book. I was locked out my house for several hours (silly me forgot my keys) in very cold weather, so I decided to read that book while I waited for someone to come home, and I have to admit my hands were frozen stiff but I wanted to sit out there all night long read that book, such a wonderful book and soo well written. 10/10.

:thumbs_up:thumbs_up

In terms of Islamic Books, I'm reading Khalid Ibn Walid's Biography by A. I. Akram, although this book is written really well, BUT the Author portrays Amir Mu'mineen Umar Al'Khattab (rd) in such negative light, and makes Umar Al'Khattab's and Khalid Ibn Walid relationships other then it was. They were brothers in Islam, part of the same family and both Sahaba, Khalid Ibn Walid did things that Umar Al'Khattab was opposed to, and he opposed them because of his love for Islam that went past friendship and family bonds. But the Author from the very very beginning (those who have read the book would understand) paints a picture that shows a rivalry that was apparent since both their childhood, and this rivalry developed during the years and even during Islam.

...and ofcourse the Quran.

I love Books...Great Thread.

I just finished a book called "Finding Forrester" it is about an old author who only wrote on book and accidentally a basket ball star (a kid)finds his house and there begins the journey of teaching him. He gets a scholarship and then gets in trouble which Forrester solves.
