Oppressions toward Muslims Worldwide

Wow, brother NM you are sooo tall, 184 is so tall, really!!! Eh, you mentioned about Acheh, do you have any relatives from Sungai Acheh, I guess it is in Penang? .

Sungai Aceh is on the mainland side (Seberang Perai Selatan).. on Penang island we have two places with the word "Acheh"... Lebuh Acheh in Georgetown (which has Masjid Melayu built by Arabs from Acheh) and Pantai Acheh which is in Balik Pulau.

Most of Muslims living in Balik Pulau, Teluk Bahang, Batu Feringghi have Acheh ancestry.. my father is from Batu Feringghi.

But it's hard for us to call ourselves as Achehnese, Minangs, Patanis, Thais, Arabs, Persians, Turks or whatever because we're mixed people..

100% of Malay-speaking Muslims on Penang island are mixed people...

During British time Muslims migrated to Penang from many part of Asia... we have Arabs (Yemenis, Hijazis, Egyptians, Iraqis), Persians, Turks, Pashtuns, Gujeratis, Sindhis, Punjabis, Malayalis, Tamils, Karnatakans, Bengalis, Burmese, Thais, Kedahans, Perlisians, Perakians, Kelantanese, Terengganese, Malaccans, Achehnese, Sumatran Malays, Nias Islanders, Bataks (the Mendailings mostly), Bengkulunese, Minangkabaus, Betawis, Javanese, Boyanese, Banjarese, Buginese and Hui Chinese.

Muslims are not so many so inter-racial marriages among different Muslim ethnic groups were normal during that time... and most of the Muslims are originated from Acheh who were already mixed during that time.

I've read somewhere, a British Jew official was complaining about Jews in Penang who converted to Islam and Buddhism and assimilated into Malay or Chinese cultures..

So, we the Penangites, might even have Jewish connection...

That's why I prefer to be called as a Penangite because everybody knows that we're mixed people...

:D

I hope no one will blame or angry to Indonesian govt.
Indonesian govt sent them back to Myanmar, although Muslims people, mainly in Aceh, wish Indonesian govt accept them become Indonesian citizen.

I can't,... no,...no,... in exactly I'm afraid to imagine what would Myanmarese govt do to those Rohingyas, after they back to their home.

The reason why the Rohingyas are coming to Malaysia (via Thailand usually) because we would not send them back to Myanmar... because of that many other minority groups in Myanmar like the Chins, Karens and Karennis came to find refuge in Malaysia too...

There are Muslims people in South East Asia non-Muslim country. Bangsa Moro (Moro nation) in Southern Philippine.

But, can we categorize them as oppressed people ?.
Because, although they are in conflict with Philippine govt, they have strong militia groups and they rule rural areas in some islands in southern Philippine.

If I'm not mistaken .. there are like 600,000 Moros living in Sabah, Malaysia.

I think it is OK with Malay, because our people in Kelantan and Terengganu too consider themselves as Malays and will enrage if people say that they are non-Malay. Malay had been tagged with strong Islamic identity while they consider those in our places calling themselves Siamese as Buddhist while actually both people are from the same native ancestors although the Malay empire that once invaded us was actually Hindu-Buddhist. As for me, I'm comfortable with the term Muslim. We speak different languages but we are the same people and unified by a language which is the language of Quran, Quraisy Arabic :statisfie.

I just want to be known as a Penangite... :p

I just want to be known as a Penangite... :p

It's still plausible. We also can be grouped to where we come from. If I'm from Kedah then, I'm a Kedahan. Also through our daily and national language or the customs and culture that we use. We also can be known as from any ethnicity from our physical appearance. No problem with Penangite :statisfie. I also use to refer people from East Coast as Kelantanese or Terengganese according to the state that they come and referring myself as Kedahans to other. But when with other Muslims, I only call myself Muslim unless if they are curious what I am, I will refer myself as a Kedahan first :D:D. I'm a supporter of Ustaz Azizan, he's so funny when talking but I can see that he's quite strict, I will still support him no matter how.

Conflict Of Integration Between Uighur-Han Ethnic
Mohd Khuzairi Ismail (Malaysian Courier)
[email protected]

Compared to Tibet which had grabbed World attention, the ethnic conflict in Xinjiang didn't get any wide coverage from International media. Although the crisis had happened since long ago, the Uighurs welfare is still neglected by Beijing.

However, Beijing herself seems not serious in solving the real problem in the region. The ethnic riot between Uighur and Han that broke last week which had took 180 souls in Urumqi, Xinjiang had opened the eyes of many parties.

It is very interesting that Beijing had made a decision to open the door wide for foreign media coverage over the conflict. This is totally different to the policy of China who had strictly restricting the region from foreign media from entering the region for news coverage before.

Many speculated that Beijing is trying to gain tenderness from International community. China is seen as trying to avoid being viewed as a failed in dealing with her own internal problem while the country is in the track of reaching the position of a New World Economic Power.

Beijing too is seen as cautiously trying to solve the crisis in Xinjiang as it is worried to be a conflict involving religious sentiment as the Uighurs are Muslims.

The region will be exposed to the threats of separatists and militant groups if the religious sentiment being in the stage.

Xinjiang which is bordering with Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Pakistan, and India in the south can't be lower estimated and could easily being exposed to militant groups.

Thus, Beijing hopes to give International community the real view about what had actually happened in Xinjiang through open the door policy. However, it doesn't mean that China is accepting the World's request for the crisis to be discussed in the council of UN.

Turkey is among the countries who is loudly and openly criticizing China and urging China to wisely solving the conflict according to International Law.

Among the countries bordering Xinjiang, the ethnic riot had also affected Turkey. Since the crisis broke, many native Uighurs have to seek refuge at the border of Turkey. China again rebukes and emphasizing that the problem is internal problem and they should will solve it themselves.

China is seen as delayed in solving the problem between ethnic in Xinjiang when the dissatisfaction among two majority ethnics was figured out in the alleys.

During Mao Chairman's era around 1949, Uighurs are the only majority ethnic there which comprised about 79% of the population while the Han was only 6% of the population. Other minority ethnics comprised 1% of the whole population.

But the "Go West" policy of China's Communist government at that time had brought in a mass entrance of Han population into the region. After that, the population of Han and Uighur was equalized and the population increased to 21 million people. Although the real natives in Xinjiang, Uighurs are treated as the second class citizen. The government is giving priority to the Hans.

The Uighurs are forbidden from using Turkish dialects, forbidden from performing their responsibilities as Muslims, forbidden from practicing their own customs and culture, and marginalized from the development policy of China.

Beijing too is shadowed with the fear that Uighurs as they are accused as involved in Terrorism activities and supporting Separatist movements. The fear crisis had made Beijing refused to locate the profits from Xinjiang's rich natural resources in the hand of Uighurs. The region which is located 4000 km from Beijing is reported as rich with minerals, gold, and tin iron, founded especially in the Valley of Tarim River.

The bias attitude toward the Uighurs had made Xinjiang being strictly monitered by Beijing. The communication in the region is restricted due to the fear that dangerous information is believed to be spread.

The strict policies of China imposed on Xinjiang is related to the strategic location of Xinjiang and being the door for China to enter Middle East.

The vast barren desert lands in Xinjiang is used to be the site for Nuclear Test Site and Armies Training. Xinjiang is used by China to be a defending site region in the West when China facing the expansion of Power from Soviet Union 40 years ago.

All of those heavy policies had oppressed the Uighurs. In the mean time, the insecurity feeling arise in both Uighur and Han ethnic. The sentiment doesn't need a big reason to bring a horrible ethnic riot.

The riots that recently killed 180 people in Urumqi is an example from a quarrel that happened in a factory in Southern China where the workers of Uighur ethnic was hurt.

Although the situation is growing a bit better with the presence of security forces in Xinjiang, but the events will still bringing a long term implication.

The same thing too grabbed the attention of a lecturer in History Department of Malaya University (UM), Dr. Suffian Mansor. According to him, the issues that arise in Urumqi are more than that when it involves economic and national integration. It also involves the future of the Uighurs and their rights being returned because they are marginalized by China.

The "Go West: policy of Beijing had raised the fear among Uighurs as they are worried about what will happen to them and their region in the future. The issue is not only restricted in Urumqi but also in the whole Xinjiang.

In economy perspective, Uighurs are marginalized far behind compared to the Hans who are placed in Xinjiang form outside the region. The poverty rate among the Uighurs is still high. Majority of them are poor and have no ability to pay the fee enrolling their children in the school.

Uighurs too have to suddenly compete with Han Chinese in order to get job. Those who are intelligent among the Uighurs had not been given opportunity to get reasonable places in the social position in Xinjiang.

The development policy in Xinjiang gradually witnessing the opening of lands for industries and oil plantations. It involves agricultural lands and grass lands of Uighurs who are in majority the farmers and shephards. This is what had been feared by the Uighurs and they are not certain about their position in their own homeland anymore. The "Go West" policy by Beijing had been viewed as benefiting Hans themselves and oppressing the Uighurs.

Suffian also suggested that in order to solve the problem, Beijing should taking a serious approach in giving autonomy status to the region in the real meaning like what had been given to other regions in China. Xinjiang however, had already being granted with autonomy status, and it is a special land with Uighur natives. But the autonomy status seems not so clear as the region is still in tight control by Beijing.

The Uighurs never put any high hope on the Governor of Xinjiang although he was choosen by Uighurs. The real power is in the hand of Wang Lequan, the Secretary of China Communist Party and he is a Han. The autonomy status given to Xinjiang before was not really benefiting Uighur or protecting Uighurs. If the real autonomy status being granted to Xinjiang, the natives there could together developing their region and deciding the direction of their region like other regions in China had enjoyed now. In the mean time, the government of China should be more just in planning the economic development of the region so that all of the ethnics there could equally enjoy the benefits gained from the region itself.

The rights for Uighur in language spoken, and the acts of worship should be guaranteed by Beijing to all Uighurs. Beijing too should be serious in cleaning the terrorist image imposed on the Uighur natives beside appointing Uighur leaders to make sure they are not left behind in the development of the nation.

The Xinjiang issue is related to the trust, justice, human rights, and the future of native Muslim Uighurs. As long as the issue is not wisely solved, it will continue haunting Beijing forever.

The Tense Situation in Urumqi Worsen, Riot May Arise Again

Mosque Being Closed

Urumqi July 14th - A mosque and many business premises in the city near the area where two Muslim Uighurs were shot dead by police yesterday were all closed while the ethnic tension is filling the air.

Police armed with semi-automatic rifles and club are forced to be at the area of the event. Chinese authority said, police had shot dead two Uighur men when they "breached the law" and hurting a person.

The event yesterday shown that the riot may return back in any time although the first riot happened last week after the ethnic tension had killed 184 people and the place is strictly guarded by the authority.

Many shops in Uighur area are closed yesterday and it continues today. A Jami mosque too is closed and security forces are placed around the mosque area. A cloth trader said that he have to close his business premise. "The place is filled with tense, how can I get customers in this situation?" Said the Hui (Muslim) ethnic man.

Some of the traders had ignored the situation and still operating their business although the violence broke again yesterday. "We are already familiar with the tense now." Said an Uighur lady when she arrange breads in front of her restaurant yesterday.

The firing event yesterday had been reported as the first time government announcing that the security force had killed the inhabitant since the riot that happened in July 5th.

However, many of the Uighurs in exile said that their people had already being killed before in the security force actions preventing "violence." - AFP

Uighur: Muslim nations in silence

Qaherah, July 14th - Most of Muslim nations are taking silence attitude toward the riot in Xinjiang where Beijing authority is sternly punishing the Muslim Uighurs in the region.

They are believed as do not want to affect their relationship in the term of business with China or bringing any attention from their political opponents, said political analyzers today.

Two non-Arab Muslim nations which are Turkey and Iran are among the countries criticizing China. However Iran is busy in dealing with her internal problem of the vote arguments after the presidential election. Turkey is reported as having blood relationship with the minority Uighurs in China.

"As for Arab World, the violence in China had almost created no reaction in their side. The Arab regimes couldn't criticize the violence on China's Muslim inhabitants because they themselves are not into democracy. They are in the same position with China," said a Jordanian political analyzer, Labib Kamhawi.

China had forced thousands of armies to Xinjiang since few days ago and imposing strict restriction on the capital of Xinjiang and few areas around the ethnic tension events. 1, 680 injured and 184 died in the bloody incident.

Uighurs with the population of 9 million people always complained about the entrance of Han ethnic from outside their region and the restriction to them by the government in practicing Islam.

They accused Han as trying to discriminate them and the Communist party is trying to vanquish their language and culture.

China is a business partner of few Arab countries including Sudan, Saudi Arabia, and other rich with oil countries in Gulf region.

The violence in Xinjiang had created protests almost everyday in Istanbul and Ankara where the national flag of China and made in China goods are burnt.

Hey.. I voted for PAS in the last election (DUN Merbau Pulas)... I live in Kulim, Kedah... but still consider myself a Penangite... we Penangites support ustaz Azizan!!! He's humble!

I am a Penangite Muslim!!! :statisfie

I think it is important to make people aware of all injustices and crimes against humanity.

But to focus too much on the oppression and injustice against ones own group can lead to feeling victimized and hated by the rest of the world.
We have to remember that that is not true!
Most Muslims live very peacefully in peaceful communities - even in non-Muslim countries.
Most Muslims are respected by their non-Muslim neighbours.

Perhaps we should balance threads such as this one with positive stories and experiences of Muslims who feels respected and welcomed in their communities.

This is just to clean the image of Muslims as we are accused with Terrorism and unbalanced Islamophobic acts being imposed on certain Muslims in certain non-Muslim majority countries had actually victimized us the most, in opposite to Terrorism or Violent image imposed by bias International media on Muslims. Nobody accusing Tamil Eelam (Hindus) with Terrorism as obvious as what had been unjustly imposed to Muslim when they blow themselves in Sri Lanka and killing Muslims in Northern Sri Lanka. International community have the right to be aware about us, and Muslims are of different nations and our culture is different to each other despite of the same Creed in G-d and final prophet (pbuh).

I agree that all of the injustice and crime in every place being exposed to the public and everyone should oppose the crimes but it seems that International media had posed the stigmas to Islam and Muslims. We can see that in the murder case of Marwa el-Sherbini in Germany. Even I'm also not aware about the case before because it is not exposed widely as what had been exposed on Muslim = Terrorist. In the same time we are aware too that there are also non-Muslim with balanced view and just but we can only see few of them.

We feel quite uneasy with this and we also experienced being discriminated in certain Muslim countries themselves like in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia where they look down upon us from Malaysia, Indonesia, and other SEAn countries as Shakal (Slaves) when we with sincere intention wanted to help our Muslim "brothers" there while the treatment to Westerners working there is different. This is based from our experiences not simply by bias. We never treat others like that in our country here. Even non-native non-Muslims too were accepted by our kings who are also Muslims as their subjects after Independence from British Protectorate. We are forced to do that if we want to be Independent. Those non-Muslim natives too can live peacefully now and even demanding us native Muslims to respect their rights more than they respecting our rights in our own countries (states) in Malaysia.

I can see that our own government too are not touching the issue about Uighurs although we talk about Palestinians because of political restriction, the demography of our country is almost the same with Xinjiang (Turkestan) although we are Independent as a country with federal constitution. Also we can't obviously talk about Patani issue of Southern Thai region because of diplomatic relationship with Thai Central Government, and we afraid that they will be harmed there. Some of those from Patani too expressed their disappointment on us, but it is not our fault. What can we do as the political border had been decided after the Independence from the protectorate lord. We could only help telling the world on what happened to them. Many other Muslims in different regions being victimized and not only those in Palestine.

As for Southern Thai issue, those unknown snipers targeted Imams, religious teachers in Madrasa, civil teachers and religious knowledge students. Few innocent Buddhists like monks and civilian Buddhists were shot dead and slain too but the total of death is more to Muslim. South Thai Muslims there respecting Buddhist monks, our ancestors pre-Islamic time too without any shame for us to admit were actually Hindu-Buddhists who worshiped buddha, Hindu gods, demons, and spirits. We are Muslims now through His guidance and Will. Nobody knows who are the murderers, some people accused Thai Government, some accused Thai Army Authority, some accused the Drug Dealer Mafias, and some accused Muslim Militants and Separatists. It isn't clear till now. Muslim villagers of Southern Thai three provinces (Yala, Patani, Narathiwat) are afraid and feeling insecure, they can't trust anyone. We who live as the citizens of neighboring country too can't bear seeing fellow humans being murdered.

Six churches in and around Baghdad were bombed over the weekend, leaving four dead, officials told CNN. A total of 35 people have been wounded in the wave of attacks, including the three children Monday.

Would our brothers and sisters from Malaysia (and elsewhere) share with me in condeming acts of violence towards all religious groups?

I think part of the problem is that we hear what we want to hear and see what we want to see. We are biased which news we choose to read and believe in the first place ...

You say that positive news of relationships between Muslims and non-Muslims are few and far between. That may or may not be true. Perhaps the question is how hard are we looking to find some?
It is easy to (mis)interpret the lack of news reported to mean that there are no positive relationships between Muslims and non-Muslims. But I believe that's simply not true.

On the other hand, the terrible murder of Marwa el-Sherbini in Germany is a very isolated case ... and yet the story is sensationalised in some Muslim communities to such an extend that people begin to have the distorted belief that Muslims are hounded, hated and killed in Germany on a regular basis. Again, that is simply not true!

I am not belittling the terrible sin that has been committed in Marwa's case, the mistakes which may have been made and the terrible suffering which is the result for her family! I pray for her and her family, and I hope that people will learn from this sad case.

What I am trying to say is that we need to make a conscious effort to maintain a balanced outlook - and perhaps that means raising our awareness of positive stories, rather than only focusing on the bad things.

I've heard about that too. Not only churches being blasted but also mosques from both Sunni and Shi'ite were blasted by each other in Iraq. The people there in middle east are just like that since their culture is influenced by several factors and also if we don't sincerely follow the teaching in the scripture but using our unclear mind to act, everything could simply happens. I had experienced fighting with some Arabs and some Pakistani in Saudi Arabia due to being treated with insolent acts. They are looking down to us as Asian Muslims, but they are looking to Western world with high esteem. It is not Westerners fault being high esteemed by those people anyway, at least they had initiated in learning various branches of knowledge but in Muslim community ourselves, we are looking to status of a person and the currency as among the factors that made us being oppressed. Everything is rooted from Ignorance, even in Muslim community. This is my real intention, beside trying to magnify what had happened to Muslims in certain regions behind the "Iron Veil."

Yea, we can open up other threads for that. But we already being accused as Terrorists elsewhere we go imsad. Even when we have to enter the US or other Western world country, we will have to pass strict immigration process and taking long time with investigation like everyone of us is Terrorist. Hatred violence too happened to us due to what had been imposed to Muslim that equate us to Terrorism. That is false. We never support any Terrorism acts. Even a piece of cloth (veil) could bring so much impact to a Muslim lady. It may sounds exaggerating but we can't deny that as it is truly happening. The International media had exaggerated more than this about us.

Ignorance about us had happened since long time ago. And it is prolonged to us till today, even among ourselves, we are still ignorant about each other. Many Westerners are doing researches about Islam and Muslim nations, and they even had developed Oriental knowledge and many Orientalists are born. But are they really giving clear perspective about us to the people there in Western world? Had they sought the knowledge due to sincerity toward knowledge development or just in order to satisfy dominion over others? We had experienced being "Protectorate" lands to others differently to those in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Not only in the 19th C but it had happened long ago before Western Imperial power reached us. Many of our ancestors were sacrificed and even some of them were portrayed as criminals in Western books. We were also accused as non-civilized people while we already established civilizations in our regions since Pre-Islamic times before they were destroyed in ancient wars with non-Muslims.

Through what had been imposed to us by International media, we also received the effects even from Oriental non-Muslims and elsewhere .

It isn't an isolated case.. it is a case where the perpetrator felt he can go all the way, and in fact was allowed to, not a one vengeful stab, not two, not three, not four, not five, not six, not seven, not eight, not nine, not ten, not eleven, not twelve, not thirteen, not fourteen, not fifteen, not sixteen, not seventeen, I imagine at this point marwa's husband in utter shock jumps to her aid, and a cop shoots him not once but twice to make sure he is down.. her son is sitting there and alas the perpetrator stabs one more for a total of 18.. in a court filled with cops and witnesses, children one which we know as well dies in the process..

You tell me, it is isolated.. It was so incredibly deliberate that I imagine even enjoyed just given the hateful comments I have read about the death of this poor woman...

story isn't sensationalized.. you can look at it as the straw that broke the camel's back.. oh I know no one cares about the 2000 afghanis murdered by U.S troops, with no more than the base troll's words that they are terrorists, or 10,000 mass grave for Bosnians, or the Iraqis and palis on daily basis .. No, dear madam it isn't an isolated case.. it is an everyday occurrence.. what makes marwa's more maddening is that the west isn't only unmoved by the murder of a pregnant pharmacist, mother and wife, in a court room in broad day light, it is that not only do they feel it is justified, but try with every possible chance to either water it down, or bring unrelated acts that may or maynot be perpetrated by Muslims, and I doubt any of them are at all to deflect away from the situation...

Marwa is but a prototype Muslim woman representing the situation for the rest of us!

all the best

LTTE CHASED OUT 50, 000 MUSLIMS FROM THEIR HOME

Sri Lanka - The Muslims who are chased from their villages had given a new dimension to the war in Sri Lanka which had happened almost six month without any signs of ceasing.

The villages of Muslims in Northern of Sri Lanka which is in Mannar province (Island) is affected this recent when the group of Tamil Separatists had forced them to leave. The order from LTTE had made those Muslim villagers in Mannar and in other Island at the edge of Northern Sri Lanka worried.

The LTTE separatist guerilla were using the microphone and high technology fire-arms roaming in the roads and in the rural areas ordering Muslim villagers to leave out their village. Others who live as minority in Vavuniya, Killinochi, and Jaffna too were ordered to leave.

They were asked to leave their house with only some money and valuable belongings while other belongings such as their property, land grants, and business pavilion should be left behind and given to the LTTE who will give them receipts in return.

Muslims in northern Sri Lanka are afraid that the massacring event will happened to them like what had happened to other Muslims in Eastern part of Sri Lanka so they left their properties and houses without any procrastination last week. They have to use a special passage prepared by the LTTE and only permitted to bring limited amount of money for their travel fare which is around Rs. 500 - Rs. 1000.

Muslims in Mannar Island and also in the mainland of Sri Lanka at the beginning were ordered to move to the areas near the coast to make them easier leaving the place with boats to a jetty in Kalpitiya, 96 km from there. The journey with boat from Mannar to Kalpitiya took about six to seven hours but and sometimes it took 10 hours if the weather is bad.

The sudden order from the LTTE separatists launched because of few reasons. According to some Muslims who were interviewed, it is because of a discussion among an Islamic political party and a Tamil party in Colombo requesting for a separate Muslim Council in East that also involved Mannar. Other reason is that the LTTE believe that Muslims provided information about their movement to Sri Lankan security force. This had made the LTTE taking immediate act to Muslims.

However, the Sri Lankan Muslim Congress, which is the party who urged for a separate Muslim Council said that the LTTE do not need any reasonable reason to just chase them away from North.

The Defence Minister, Ranjane Wijeratne assumed that the demand for Muslim Council is the reason why the LTTE reacted.

He had made the Muslims from North and they told him that the LTTE had forced them to leave because the SLMC had demanded for a separate council for Muslim.

Mr. Wijeratne too had advised Muslims to write to the President, Premadasa as to make sure that the President informing the political party to spare Muslim civilians from the desperate situations.

The speaker of Sri Lankan Federal Young Muslim said that they will be sending medical teams to Kalpitiya and reported that government officials and the voluntary associations founded that it is difficult for them to help all of the refugees because there are too many of them and this is the first time it ever happened.

He also said that bad weather had made the circumstance even worse. It is impossible to locate 25, 000 refugees in a limited area. Those refugees were then transferred to Puttalam province and they have their shelter in Muslim schools.

Muslim refugees who arrived in Puttalam told their experience when they were ordered to leave their home. One of them said that LTTE army came to their houses last Sunday night and ordering them to leave. He said, "I beg them to spare me times to vacant the house until Monday but they forced me to move out in Sunday morning. They also took the house key from my hand and taking my valuable belongings.

Some of those Muslims claimed that the LTTE checked the women whether they were suspected as bringing valuable things.

Enlightening The Darkness In West About Islam
By Jamilah Bakar from Washington
Feb 5th 1990, Berita Harian (Daily News)

The questionnaire about Islam in the West always related to politics. Due to their narrowness about Islam, the development of universal Islam, and the developments in few Muslim nations had been seen with anxiousness. The misunderstanding which had also strengthened by Western media who tried to exhibit negative aspects in order to portray Islam with bad image.

Bias reports about the turbulence in Azerbaijan by Western media without we realize had protruded the rights of Muslims as the majority in the country. This kind of report was purposely brought by the media, in addition to the recently research showing that Russia will one day being Islamicized. Peter Drucker in his book "The New Realities" speculated that Islam will be largely accepted in Russia around 2025. Amer Taheri in his book "Cresent in a Red Sky: The Future of Islam in Soviet Union suggested that Islam will arise in Russia due to the emptiness in the soul and that human made ideologies couldn't satisfy the spiritual necessity of human.

A popular TV channel in the US recently had replayed a record about few Americans who were said as brutally tortured in Lebanon, while in opposite to that, those people had already home without any physical scratch or mentally abused. But when thousands of innocent life including helpless children were sacrificed in Sabra and Shatila, and others were chased and oppressed by Israeli authority, nothing about it being shown or touched in the channel.

However, a public TV channel agreed to bring six series of documentary about Islam which is known as Islam and the West. The project will began in September this year.

The $ 1.4 million project of the documentary is among the effort of Foundation for Traditional Studies with the head quarter in Washington. Prof. Seyyedh Hossein Nasr is the person who is responsible for the idea sparked. He is the president of the Foundation and a professor of Islamic Studies in George Washington University. He was born in Teheran, and educated in Harvard. He also had wrote 20 educational books about Islam and they were translated into various languages. He had also taught in other universities in the US, Middle East, Europe, Pakistan, India, Japan, and Australia.

He is a modern Muslim figure who wrote the philosophy and science in Islam and also had re-introduced the educational link, methods, and the life view of Ikhwan as-Safa, al-Biruni, and Ibnu Sina (Aveccina). He also had re-introduced Muslim Thinkers such as Ibnul Arabi, Suhrawardi, and Mulla Sadra to the academic world of East and West.

Although those figures mentioned are already known in the West, but the elements and the methods presented by Prof. Seyyedh Hossein is according to the academic tradition which is based from Sufism Metaphysics and Philosophy.

In a meeting with him, he had expressed his gratefulness toward the co-operation and financial assistance from all parties that had made the documentary project will be soon launched.
