I'm Pakistani of Kashmiri descent..meaning ancestors migrated from occupied Kashmir...great grand parents. Both my parents are cousins so means it's in both sides lol. Muslim American Pakistani/Kashmiri. Mom told me once though that her grandmother was from Iran. No one one thinks I'm Pakistani.

In the words of Salmaan al-Farsi (رضي الله عنه); "I am a son of Islaam, from the children of Aadam (عليه السلام)".

Whenever I hear philipinos speak tagalog to each other, I could pick up words here and there.
Tagalog and Javanese belong to the same family
language.

Yes I agree, I also heard there are like 80 languages in Philippines but only two are official: the Filipino or Tagalog and English.

Filipino is nearest to Spanish since Spaniard was in Philippines for 550 years and thus it was the official language of the country from 6th Century till 1987.
Daily conversation consist of atleast 40% Spanish words, perhaps 20% Malay, 10% Cantonese, Sanskrit, Gujarati & so much more.

For instance I understand a Spanish movie when they speak slowly, at the same time I can pick up Malay conversation but that doesnt mean I am fluent in any those.

Language can identify the ethnicity, given the above, many Filipinos have mixed up attitude, culture, belief etc...IT'S NOT EASY TO KNOW ETHNICITY in this country.
Everything is mixed up and copied (culture, religion etc) which is the main factor why there is no cooperation, built brotherhood and peace in this country lol

everyone celebrates when its chinese new year, christmas or some buddhist event

Indian.....born and bred in South Africa
South African Indian, remind me to "Mr Bones 2" movie. Are you in Durban? Okay, okay, you don't need to tell me where you are living.

By the way, Leon Schuster is my family favorite actor.

I am Kashmiri/Pakistani. I like to call myself Kashmiri but lots of people just say Pakistani for Kashmiris too.

British as well, because I was born here and lived here all my life, except the occassional trip to Kashmir.

I have meet an Indian man who prefer to call himself as "a man from Kashmir", not Indian.

Yep, there are both side, Indian Kashmir and Pakistani Kashmir. They still get called India/Pakistan though, which is not good. :hmm:

:sl:

I talked to a young Pakistani brother at masjid once and I asked him about the Indian/Pakistani rivalry, because I wanted clarification on it. Yeah, that was a mistake. I won't be doing that again... :hmm:

lol. Yes, you dont want to be doing that again. The rivalry is really strong in some people. Also dont mention cricket! ;D

Its a bit of a pity that your first recollection of South Africa is Leon Schuster and 'Mr Bones2'......LOL! - I didnt realise that he was this well known!

And yes - most Indians here do originate in Durban (as myself), even though I have relocated elsewhere.

Salaam

I thought you are Arab from bani Hashim.

I think the brother chose the name due to the importance of that clan ...
Banu hashim is the clan that our prophet peace be upon him belong to as his great-grandfather was Hashim... so we can say the prophet is a Hashemite from the side of his father ...

The uncles of Abdullah (father of the prophet peace be upon him) belong to Banu al-Najjar clan who is a branch of Banu al-Khazraj ..... Sahaba Anas ibn Malik and Zayd ibn Thabit, belong to Banu al-Najjar ...

My family tree traced back to Banu al-Najjar clan(uncles of the prophet's father) ,though we don't live in Saudi Arabia...

That brother had change his username, and I think that's a right decision. Use "Banu Hashim" as username could make people assume he is from Banu Hashim clan. If he is really from Banu Hashim clan, that's no problem, but if not?.

I m Bosnian

I created a player in PES 2012 that's a Bosnian midfielder. :shade: Dude is fast as can be but has no stamina. He usually gets subbed out at halftime. ;D

Well it was educational if nothing else. And one night before Ishaa prayer a bunch of brothers got a cricket match going. Cricket is too much like baseball for me, so I just watched.

Cricket is the most famous sport in Pakistan I think. And one of the only ones they are actually good at, heh.
