There's a specific style of knife fighting done using the Karambit. Doug Marcaida is a master in it. Check his videos out on YouTube. He even has some of him against an opponent who has a gun. Basically, the person with the knife could win the fight if he can successfully make use of the element of surprise (against a gunslinger). But for the one of the best gunslingers ever, check out Bob Mundan who died a couple of years back.

No, akhi. Fighting is about Rujoolah (Manliness). It's got nothing to do with being psychotic.

A person who is married should know how to fight and defend his wife. If someone looks at your wife, make him regret it.

And most importantly, for Jihaad, a man must be fit and strong.

A strong Mu'min is more beloved to Allaah Ta`aalaa than a weak Mu'min, as Rasoolullaah صلى الله عليه وسلم has told us.

It's about effectiveness, akhi. What's most effective and most practical. Folsom Prison-Style Knife Fighting doesn't look "cool" at all, but it's effective. And a gun is more effective than any sword or any knife.

The wooden sword is blunt and thus the opponent can grab it with his hand and stab you with the other (using a knife).
