Don't worry your not being ignorant i don't mind.That post was actually refering to abdullah4ever, who has this saying at the bottom of his posts all the time. I just thought it was a good saying to help people have clarity between the prophet (p.b.u.h) and Allah Subhana watala.

All I want, and have been wanting for so many years, is for ash-Shaykh ash-Shuraym to do the final du'aa, i.e. lead the final 10 rak'aat on the 29th of Ramadhaan. He's never done it in al-Haraam. Inshaa-Allaah, one day...

(It's not only ash-Shaykh as-Sudays who's able to do it!)

As far as i know, Sheikh Shuraim does not do the final du'aa in the haram on the 29th ramadan because apparently more people like Sheikh Sudais' du'a. Personally i like Sheikh Sudais' du'aa. He really emphasises on it. And he's been in the haram longer than Sheikh Shuraim. Of course Shuraim is more than capable of doing it but he always steps back and requests Sheikh Sudais to make the final du'aa.
Anyway that is how i understand it. (by the way, its finally quite warm in London)

so are you trying to say sheikh sudais does the dua based on people's liking? just as long as someone does it it is ok, though that is why am hoping SS does it, but even if SAS does the dua it is good enough for me and everyone inshallah

Whoah akhee calm down. That's not what i said. He doesnt just do it because people like him to do it, although that does come into it. Sheikh Sudais has been in the haram since 1984, thats 22 years. He is (after Sheikh Muhammad Subayyal) the longest serving imam of the haram in makkah. The other imams hold him in great respect as do the royal family. That is why he is given the honour of making the du'a khatam at the end of the qur'an.
Even if you listen to the makkah taraweeh audios, you'll find that nearly all the time its Sheikh Sudais who makes the final du'aa.

People may very well prefer ash-Shaykh as-Sudays' du'aa but (in my opinion, and it's there for everyone to judge for themselves) ash-Shaykh ash-Shuraym is more natural in his emotions, in his recitation as well as his du'aa. So, I would prefer his du'aa any day.

I am also aware that he is very humble, so it may be possible that he is declining the offer, wAllaahu a'lam.

In Masjid an-Nabawiyy, in the past few years they've given different Imaams the chance to perform the final du'aa. I think they should at least allow ash-Shaykh ash-Shuraym to do the du'aa once in his lifetime (HafiZahullaah), considering he's also been in the Haraam for a good few years.

As far as im aware, he can if he wants, but you're right. he's very humble and he respects Sheikh Sudais a lot, so he requests him to do it. This year, he didnt lead taraweeh on the final day. It was Sheikh Juhany and Sheikh Sudais
I hope Sheikh Salih al-Talib takes Taraweeh along with Sheikh Sudais/Shuraim this year.

i agree, maybe it is time to let SS do the dua, he should have a chance at least and he keeps his emotion under control too

Sheikh Budayr did the last day, but the last day wasn't the khatam du'a. I meant the day of the khatam du'aa. It was Sheikh Juhany and Sudais

It was ash-Shaykh al-Juhany. Ash-Shaykh al-Budayr recited in the last 10 rak'aat of qiyaam al-layl that night. Basically, he swapped with ash-Shaykh as-Sudays just for the du'aa, subHaanAllaah!

Sheikh Budayr's du'a on the 29th tahajjud was breathtaking. he was really really emotional.
And bro MST, i apologise. Yes Sheikh Shuraim was imam since 1992. It was Sheikh Sudais that was imam since 1984.
