Nice lessons on here, keep going.

One little correction, though: it is 'hasha.' When a syllable letter 'sh' [particularly when it is 'sha'] is added at the end of a word, thus if the last letter on that said word is 'l,' it is omitted, thus in this case the letter 'l' of hal becoming hasha.

Other examples are meel and ul. If meel becomes "the" meel, it thus changed to meeshaan.

Ul becomes usha.

There are other letters that involve this advanced grammatical system, but can't recall now.

It can also be said meesha or meeshaan.

Darn, one can't edit once one posts on this forum? I can't see the edit feature.

And about the difference between the light dh and r, it is regional variation. The Northerners, particularly those who hail from notherwest of the country, pronounce and write 'yidhi,' while the Southerners say 'yiri.' Same with gabadh and gabar. Or sanboodh and sanboor.

Indeed the somali language is intresting...subhan Allah. Few difference b/w the Northerners and Southerner. One thing that confuses me is the Sacda "Time"...

You know what im talking about right:rollseyes

Al-mu`muniha, i think it is saacad not sacda, sacda means "the cow" i could be wrong, correct me if i`m.

Ooops. My spelling went a bit wrong.Saacad is what i meant. Sacda doesn't mean cow. Sac is cow.

Allah knows best.

i might be wrong but i think there is a word such as sacda,it means ur referring to one specific cow, literally it means "the cow"

I forgot to remove the Laam, just a typo.

You are correct akhee, mahadsanid.

What I do not understand is in when the definite female article is added to feminine nouns ending in dh, dha is added and thus becoming gabadhdha (the girl), however, in the writing system, the extra dh is never added and they generally write gabadha. Any reason why?

aslama alaykum brothers and sisters

i think if you add an extra dh or not is still gonna sound the same
so i think thats why people don't add the extra dh on it
if i am wrong anyone correct me plz
thanks

There is something called lammaanaha, Qadaafi. Some letters are doubled, where it is appropriate. The letters such as b, d, dh, g, l, m, n, and r. It isn't always that they get doubled, but in some. One reason is they differentiate between two same-sounding words, but different meanings.

For the dh, though, is among the doubled letters, it is very rarely is used, and when it is used, it almost always happens in the middle, not at the end of the word. Soomaalis now currently ignore most of these doubled letters, where there is much confusion which letter to double and which shouldn't.

Yes, only very advanced writers of Soomaali language does know where and when. Very confusing? It sure is.
