Questions on Malaysia and Malaysians, answered by Malaysians.

Love. Love. And more love. Malaysian movie-makers can't make films other than about love. The only twist they were capable of introducing (for example in the movies mentioned) is the story about love between a Malay girl and a Chinese boy.

I just can't show support for local film industry. It sucks. Whenever someone criticizes about them those directors just jeer back at him/her saying, "Jealous! Jealous!"

;D ;D ;D

You like that? I'm working on my own series of novels and perhaps in the near future I hope to direct my own films. My first one;

Nasi Bertaburan (Strewn Rice) tells us the story about a Malay stall-operator Ramli and a Chinese hawker Hong Chin who vie each other for customers. The problem is that they both sell Nasi Kandar. Ever heard of a Chinese Nasi Kandar seller? No? In this movie you will. While their competition is one of friendly in nature, they are faced with another problem. Their children literally hate each other, constantly calling each other names like "Tak Bersunat" (uncircumcised) and challenging each other to certain daring things kissing a plastic bag containing haram meat products and throwing fireworks into a masjid at the 1st night of Ramadan. Things get a little bit complicated when Hong Chin's eldest son came back from studying overseas only to find he cannot compete with Ramli's local educated eldest daughter's mastery of English language. And this time they won't fall for each other because they literally hate each other. This movie will shock you to no end as to the hilarious reality of the Malaysian society. Expect a ban from the censorship board.

Chinese nasi kandar sellers do exist ... in Penang.

If I have the opportunity to produce film, I'll do movies about pre-WWII scene in Penang... where people can live together... and I would highlight extinct communities like Penangite Jews, Penangite Armenians and Penangite Persians.

'Jealous'

That seems to be the only reply that people in Malaysia can come up with when you disagree with so and so actor, or such and such movie, or so and so director/singer etc. Either Jealous or 'berfikiran kolot'.....something along those lines.

It's crazy! I frequent one or two Malay(sian) forums and I have to say that it's ridiculous the way they always accuse one another of this.

Personally, I think that the Malaysians are dropping more and more behind...their main focus (it seems) is just in the entertainment industry. I am disgusted at their programs/movies etc. Love, Love, Love and more Love.Hardly anything that will instigate good Islamic morals and character into the people. And then this Badawi seems to just go along with the flow and you see him going to this anugerah giving session and that one. Bad example I say.

And then recently...when Siti got the title of Datuk, I wonder what in the world did she do to acheive this title? Just because she's a singer?......
I really think this entertainment industry is getting a little out of hand in Malaysia.

Just my two cents.

My mother says that when she was younger the Malay kids used to tease the Chinese kids because they didn't do Istinjaa also.

I must visit Malaysia, you guy's are so hilariouse ;D .

Do you guy'z speak english well enough that I will able to understand?

Ahem istinjak means cleansing the (things) when you've finished in the toilet. I am trying to be more open.
NO BAD WORDS HERE

Somebody mentioned to me her career expanded the local music industry that more jobs are being created as a result, so she is really helping people get jobs. But titles conferred by Sultan of Pahang are plenty every year and there are Datuks everywhere now in Malaysia. This is a fact which I'm totally unfazed.

We understand enough English to accord you a Bangla treatment upon your arrival. Hehehe... joking! ;D;D;D

Calling each other "uncircumcised" is so funny. I never have guessed.

oh my ...not just uncircumcised....there are much more

and true...they can be quite funny...

and the funny thing is...the non-muslims...and the muslims get offended too...eventhough it is the truth...or something they never did practise...
