I am creating this thread that will enable all participants to share historical/current mosques that have been created in different location such as Europe, middle east, Asia, And Africa..

that will illustrate the beauty and noor of mosques in islam...and perhaps in the future we will visit them inshAllah...

Please full participate by providing a review of the mosques and demonstrate a picture inshAllah...

I can take some Iranian ones.

Imam reza, the 8th imam has hes grave here, The towers are made out of solid gold. The walls are decorated with sapphires and other expensive stuf..

Ispahan mosque, its a blue mosque, its garden is a town square, its the second bigget town square in the world, the biggest one is the one in China.
It was built by the first persian ruled Iran after the islamic conquest, ending the mongol rule.

You can sit under the doom and play with a bill, and the entire doom will echo.

India's first Masjid is believed to be built in 628 AD at the behest of legendary ruler Cheraman Perumal, who died in Arabia after embracing Islam.

I heard that he this Hindu King(who later reverted to Islam) saw the splitting of Moon... and then was eager to know about it.. so travelled to the middle east.

Legend has it that before he died, Cheraman Perumal sent an emissary to Kodungalloor to seek the help of his descendant there to propagate Islam along the Kerala coast.


The original Hindu architectural scheme of the mosque has been retained intact to a great extent, though essential additions have been made over the years.


Situated at the northern end of the Periyar River, about 50 km from Kochi, Kodungaloor has been the gateway for Christianity, Judaism and Islam in India.

Iran is evereything, We got rain deers, we got leopards, we had elephants before alexander killed them all. We have pumas, we have skiing resorts, people travel all over the world to skii in Iran.

We got deserts, rain forests, savannahs. We got it all.

Life in Iran is very very diverse.

Arabistan, its like an arab country only its in Iran. Azerbaijan, about 25 milion turks,

Some people are very poor, some people are very rich, in Teheran you can see lamborghinis and ferraris and rolls royces.

Its more liberal than Saudi arabia, Women are in the goverment, Women can vote, Women can go to coffeeshops and walk alone.

Life in Iran is too diffrent, its all kinds of lifes.

The Shah Faisal Masjid in Islamabad, Pakistan, is one of the largest mosques in Asia. It is a state National Mosque. It is a well-known masjid in the Islamic world and is renowned for both its immense size and its architecture. It holds the title for being the largest mosque in the world, interms of area.

The impetus for the mosque began in 1966 when the late King Faisal bin Abdul Aziz of Saudi Arabia suggested it during a visit to Islamabad. In 1969, an international competition was held in which architects from 17 countries submitted 43 proposals. After four days of deliberation, Turkish architect Vedat Dalokay's design was chosen. Construction of the mosque began in 1976 by National Construction of Pakistan, led by Azim Khan, and was funded by the government of Saudi Arabia, at a cost of over 130 million Saudi riyals (approximately $120 million USD today). King Faisal bin Abdul Aziz was instrumental in the funding, and both the mosque and the road leading to it were named after him after his assassination in 1975. The mosque was completed in 1986, and used to house the International Islamic University. The mausoleum of General Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq, whose 1988 funeral at the site was the largest in the history of Pakistan, is located adjacent to the mosque. Many conservative Muslims criticised the design at first for its non-conventional design and lack of the traditional dome structure, but virtually all criticism was eventually silenced by the mosque's scale, form, and setting against the Margalla Hills upon completion.

This is the largest historic mosque in George Town, founded around 1800. The name of mosque was taken from the Kapitan Kelings, people who were appointed leaders of the South Indian community by the British. The term ‘keling’ derived from the ancient Hindu kingdom on the Coromandel coast of South India. It was generally used to denote all those who came from there. As the Indians found it difficult to pronounce certain English words, the title “Captain” was somehow transformed into “Kapitan”. From there, the Kapitan Kelings (or Captains of the Kelings) came about.

The Masjid Sultan Ibrahim is one of the most beautiful building in Muar. This historical mosque was built in 1927 and officially opened on 1930 by the then Tengku Mahkota of Johor (Crown Prince) - Tengku Ismail. Built at a time when Malaya was under the British rule, it is not suprising then that this mosque has the unique distinction of having an architectural design very much influenced by the British. It's eye-catching four-storey minaret is located at the back of the mosque. The roof of the mosque's main building still has its original clay tiles but they are blocked from sight by a high brick wall. This mosque has become the main mosque for the town of Muar for decades and one of the town's most recogniseable landmark

BEFORE - The mosque and its grounds had deteriorated due to the humid climate of Cyprus, insect infestation, and water damage.​

AFTER - The mosque and its minaret are now restored. USAID funding helped reinforce the building’s structure, ensuring that it will stand for future generations of Cypriots and pilgrims. The project also planted over 130 date and palm trees around the site to provide shade and restored the original footpath terraces that visitors have admired admired for centuries.​

That is a very famous mosque, you can play with the towers, you can swing the towers, they are like toys, its about 600 years old, thats about all I remember.

The Mosque of Amr Ibn El-Aas

This is the first and oldest mosque ever built on the land of Egypt. Erected in 642 AD (21 AH) by Amr Ibn al'As, the commander of the Muslim army that conquered Egypt, the mosque is also known as Taj al-Jawamie (Crown of Mosques, al-Jamie'al-Ateeq (the Ancient Mosque) and Masjid Ahl ar-Rayah (Mosque of Banner Holders).

The Al-Azhar Mosque

Located in El Hussein Square, the Al-Azhar Mosque (the most blooming), established in 972 (361 H) in a porticoed style shortly after the founding of Cairo itself, was originally designed by the Fatimid general Jawhar El-Sequili (Gawhara Qunqubay, Gawhar al-Sakkaly) and built on the orders of Caliph Muezz Li-Din Allah. Located in the center of an area teaming with the most beautiful Islamic monuments from the 10th century, it was called "Al-Azhar" after Fatama al-Zahraa, daughter of the Prophet Mohamed (Peace and Prayers Be Upon Him)

It's about pictures of muslim locations from different places in the world. There are some 2000 pictures on the site already, from Syria, Palestine, Pakistan, Istanbul, Spain, Libanon and Morocco, just to mention some of them.

Many people are not able to see the places I've visited by their own, and finding good high-res pictures on the net can be a challenge. I've travelled to different places myself, and published high-res (internet-wise) on the internet, for people to see for themselves how these places look like. It can in fact also be used for people to deceid where to spend their holidays, as they get a good indication of how it would be on the different locations.
