What do you guys think of the recent trend of banning hijabs in Bangladesh?

Being a Bangladeshi, i'm extremely gutted to see education institutions banning hijabs one after another in a country where 90% people claim themselves to be "Muslims".
It's rare enough to find a hijab wearing woman here these days and atrocities like this will surely drive our Muslim sisters to obscenity.
What's next? Ban on Quran? Jail for keeping beard? Punishment for having Arabic names?
I see more and more of these so called "Feminist" groups rearing up their heads with atheist personnels acting as their heads giving lectures in on how Islam is holding Women back, i'm sure they had a hand in these, not to mention the foreign influence.

This is secularism which is the defining ideology of the establishment in most Muslim countries (indeed the world), and secularists are by default non-Muslims

My brother in law's are a lot better than me and they have shorter beards..

As time goes by I almost regret buying into the big beards idea.

May still shave it off.

It very rarely influences my conduct and is pretty much a free hit for all those taking it.

Id say wearing a mosque hat is just as effective, although I wear a Western style one.

It's remind me to situation in Indonesia during decade of 80's when hijab was banned in government offices, in mostly private offices, in mostly of schools, and Muslim women were not allowed to make ID card photo with hijab. One of government argument was, hijab was not part of uniform.

Situation began to changed in 90's when Indonesian middle class Muslims became more religious. Middle class Muslim women started to wear hijab in universities, schools, and office, and government afraid to stop it. Now, you can find hijabi women in everywhere in Indonesia, in offices and schools.

Do not underestimate middle class. They have power to change situation and bring down government, like Indonesian middle class have done toward Soeharto regime.

If Bangladeshi middle class wear hijab in schools and government office, then Bangladeshi government must be will thinking long if they want to ban it.

If we would like to prevent people hide bombs, everybody should walk on the streets naked without any kind of bags or other stuff with them. Some may hide bomb in their mobile phones as well.

So that´s a poor excuse.

People can also have a specialised bomb that activates on command - or on certain conditions met.

Say, a bottle of water, in that there are some chemicals, designed to explode on contact with HCl acid in the stomach.. Which has a radius of 25 metres of or soo. By that I could add some of the chemicals, and there you have walking bombs.

There is such thing as an explosive detector... though I do think explosive detectors wont really be helpful in public places... i guess. BUT STILL I find the banning of hijab a wrong move

hijab is officially not banned yet with school, college dress . It depends on college Principal, class teachers. Sometimes they allow it, sometimes they scold students. May Allah guide them.
