I think its Kam Saa3ah? :? For what time is it...not sure though

:wasalamex

thanks sis...to say what time as in "what time is the appointment" would it b matha sa'3?

Why not 'Mata yakoono' (I don't know the word for appointment)?

And for what time 'Kamis sa'ah al2an?'

And for reply: As-Sa3at otThalithah wa arRob3 masa2an/Sabahan. = It is 3:15 pm/am

As-Sa3at = The hour is
otThalithah = third (three)
wa = and
arRob3 = a quarter
masa2an = pm (in the afternoon)
Sabahan = am (in the morning)

As-Sa3at = The hour is
otThalithah = third (three)

arRob3 = a quarter
masa2an = pm (in the afternoon)
Sabahan = am (in the morning)

You can change the Thalithah to
Wahidah 1:00
Thaniyah 2:00
Rabi3ah 4:00
Khamisha 5:00
Sadisah 6:00
Sabi3ah 7:00
Thaminah 8:00
Tasi3ah 9:00
3ashirah 10:00
Hadi 3ashr 11:00
Thani 3ashr 12:00

and the Rob3 can be
khamsa daqaaiq 5 min
3ashara daqaaiq 10 min
tholoth 20 min (a third)
ithnataan wa 3shroon daqeeqatan 25 min
nisf 30 min (a half)
tholothaan 40 min

The wa can be replaced with illa which means except or less than, so
As-Sa3at otThalithah illa arRob3 = The time is 2:45 (a quarter less than 3)

so illa 3ashar daqaa2iq 50 min
illa khamsa daqaa2iq 55 min

I think it means, 'one night', but I am not sure this is the only meaning

yeah i also knew the same thing. Someone whose mother tongue is Arabic could have known it perfectly

I found on one of the baby names sites that Layla means Dark Beauty in Arabic. Can't be sure of the authenticity of that, though.

Isnt Laila an Arabic word
What is its meaning?
Is it something to do with night?

:sl:

Laila means:

the first stage of being drunk

or

the black color of its extreme

or

very dark ,long night

:w:

thoraya

means

Chandelier

or

a group of stars

Assalamu'alaykum
I don't know if this is the right thread but I just wanted the translation of these lyrics. They are from Zain Bhikha's 'Our world' Album. The song's called 'Selawat', I think. Someone told me the lyrics are not appropriate, esp. the second para.
