I have some avatar problems I need solved please. I know how to upload an avatar picture, I know where to edit your avatar and everything, but the problem is it won't accept it and make it my avatar. It says the "Remote file is too big" or something like that. This doesn't make sense, because the file is 100x75 resized, and it says the minimum size is 100x100, it should fit :hmm:

Any ideas on why this is happening?

To use option 2 (Uploading from your PC) the limits are 100x100 with a max size of 19.5 kb.

But if you upload it to an image host you only have the 100x100 limitation. If you notice my avatar is over the 19.5 limit.

You can actually use an avatar larger than 100x100 from your own image host, but it will be resized and most likely distorted.

Nope not working still :/

A profile image, I think it's called, has the same limitations; I tried to upload my picture on there and it worked! Why it's not working on my avatar I don't know..

Got me wondering. If you can, post the image you want as an avatar here and I will see what I can do with it.
 
I just noticed you said it is the same as your profile picture. Let me see what I can do with that

I noticed it was in PNG format. I downloaded it, reconverted it to GIF uploaded to my image host and then stuck the URL in option 2.


I noticed that the profile picture does allow a larger size it allows 24 Kb. I also think the avatar is limited to JPEG images. so it did not like the PNG

EDIT: It was just pointed out to me that avatars are limited to JPEG images for members.

How do i make my signature picture big? like others have on the bottom of their posts?

First of all the original has to be the size you want. Have to load it as if you are doing a post and use img tags intead of options one or 2
 
If you can post the original image here I will try to put it in your sig
 
It says I can't upload animated images as my profile picture, but I'm sure I've seen others with ones.

I've tried hosting it on image shack and uploading it from my pc.
Any ideas?

Did you try uploading it to your own image shack account or the generic one that is used by default if you do not have your own account?
