Well there is a little problem for us non-Muslims because we do not know the risk having no prior knowledge of proper behaviour, or at least not much.
With non-muslims, I can certainaly understand, because the rules don't apply to you.
What is acceptable to us is fitnah to you.
Which is why I have said, the rule doesn't apply to non-muslims. We are on different levels, we take this much more seriously than you people do. Not only that, we have different beliefs and this is like a religious based campaign for any other muslim.
But I think I am clear on smiley's.
Alhamdulilah, however, if you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
So may I ask about PMs. Would you advise me against PM'ing a Sister on the simple grounds that we would not talk in private so we should not PM in private?
No brother is forbidden to PM a sister. However, this is under one condition. I do not advice a brother or any non-mahram to PM a sister just for the sake of it. There must be a valid reason to talk to her. If it is a necessity to speak with her over an important issue than alhamdulilah, that is okay.
Nevertheless, a brother has no right to PM a sister just because he wants to 'talk' or socialize. This is not advisable.
Or does the fact that the Mods can, theoretically, read them amount to the presence of a chaperone and make it acceptable? I guess not. Would you advise against even reading a PM if a Sister sends one?
In my opinon it is a logical idea that mods read pm messages vice versa. We are not at home, this is still an islamic board the same rules apply here just like they would apply at a mosque.
Gender rooms for private. PM messages between sisters and brothers are observered. If a brother or sister is in dire need to make close buddy friends with someone of the opposite gender then I advice them to go to a non-islamic disscussion board. Even though this is the internet, brothers and sisters should know their roles here even when talking to a non-muslim.
Hence, when both brothers and sisters talk to each other unnecessarily, they both should know that they are in the wrong.
