Can my dad's computer pick up messages I send with this Yahoo account? If my dad finds out I've created an email address without his permission, he'll explode!

EDIT: did you say that you can make an account (on this site, not an email account) for me? If so, that would probably be easier.

Bro fishman, if you're afraid that your dad will find out you've got another email address. Don't use the yahoo account, because the new user account on this forum has been created for you anyway - therefore, you don't actually need the yahoo account no more insha'Allaah. :)

How do I do that? I can't find my control panel.
Also, should I set my way of life to 'muslim'? Technically I'm not one yet, and I still need to start doing lots of important things such as salat, not eating pork (although some people do know that I have an adversion to it), and other things.

If you go to the top left of your screen, it says User CP - click on that.

Then click on Edit Password and Email on the left bar.

Perhaps it's better to leave the way of life as Undisclosed for now, Insha'Allaah :).

Does forum registration not accept web-based e-mail accounts, then? If it does, you could always just set up a Google or hotmail account.

As to the main question, though, I would just tell your parents. Such things are never as bad as you think they might be, and if your parents love you, which I'm sure they do, they will accept if not immediately understand. That may not happen instantly, but if you stay determined over a period of time so they realise your acceptance of Islam isn't just a fad, they will come round in time. Living by Islamic principles will help a lot, too... your parents at least won't have to worry about you being brought home by the police blind drunk!

I've done that now. My password is no longer 'reverttoislam'. Thanks for getting me logged in, akhi Muhammad, and without this anonymous user thing, I probably would only have been able to read this forum. Just remember, don't mistake other people using the anonymous user profile for me! That would be both funny and embarrasing at the same time!

Yes Trumble, it is more logical to just tell them, but in practice it's really hard, they will be shocked that I could change like this.

I went away to do some jobs, I'm probably going to be gone for about 45 mins.

I've talked about creationism (I'm not a creationist BTW, I don't see any contradiction between common descent and the Quran, but the human evolution bit is slightly fuzzy), but not actually about real religion. I suppose I could try, I wrote a book on evolution for a science project once, and talked about Islam in it.
