Look, the only resolution in the mind of US/UK politicians is an expansion of the Iraq war into Iran. This entire event was a setup orchestrated by Blair to validate Bush's invasion of Iran. And he'll do it without congressional approval because it appears to be an Iranian ''attack'' against a coalition partner. the The Brits were in Iranian waters on a mission to be captured.

Avar, I know you will answer that it could never happen but IF the UK publishes proof (gps coordinate records, satalite images, etc) will you post an apology for making wild accusations or just say the proof is lies? Will you also think twice in the future before doing so again? Of course if proof comes out that the UK government orchastrated this incident to create an incident then I will post an apology for my comments.

How can you possibly say the Brits were in Iranian waters, were you there with your gps positioning equipment in your hand? These waters have been disputed between Iran & Iraq for centuries, so how do you know which side they were on?

As I have said before I will admit when I think the UK government does something wrong and I am not in denial about a small minority of the UK troops in Iraq torturing people and making videos of it. However it saddens me that some apparently intelligent people harbour such ingrained hatred that they are prepared to make wild accusations without waiting for proof or facts (not political propaganda for either side).

Indeed I will make an apology. The truth means more to me than naything. But like you say, it'll bever happen. Or if ir does, it'll be in about 30/40 years time like it always is. Too late then though. Who knows if Allah will grant me tommorrow let alone 30/40 years of living. - Those are my views and I stand by them until they are proven wrong.

Gur Fateh

Please don't put words in my mouth, I said no doubt you will say it will never happen. I believe that the UK has the proof of where these people were captured, be that Iraqi or Iranian waters, and if Iran does not allow the UK to see their people soon then this information will be pulished. For a change I agree with the government, this information should not be published yet as if it does prove these people were in Iraqi waters then Iran would be painted into a corner and I don't believe that would be a good idea for anybody.

Well if it is in Iranian waters, they had no reason being there, so they were caught. Simple as.

Well South Africa would be the most notable case against that being true.

But yeah,Sanctions in Iraq failed for 12 years, and since the baathists kept themselves and the military well feathered, thats all that mattered to Saddam. the people of Basra had fed themselves from landfill sites for a full decade before the British arrived, yet there was cigars and wine and DVD players in the party officials houses in the same city.

Iran has a sizable underground dissident movement, but most people there i imagine would be too scared to do anything as they starved under sanctions.

Military sanctions are unimpressive. the 40 year old kit of the Iranian army has done them proud for all that time and it cant be any less maintained then it is at the moment. Anything they really need the Russians Chinese and French will provide in private. They for the moment only need enough explosives and 7.62 rounds to keep the Terrorists they support happy.

They can do that nicely under sanctions, and they can portray it as another attack on them by the west.

And if they were in Iraqi waters what will you say then?

I will say ''Ahmadinejad, Ahmadinejad let my people go'' :p

In other news...

Russia’s Foreign Ministry yesterday criticised the United States for what it called over-reliance on force and warned Washington against military action against Iran.

I may be in agreement there. Though before dubya i loved the US. The people are geat it's the bloody adminstration I despise.

Oh...not that again. You do realize he was elected...twice?

Who do you think voted for him? Mexicans?

Not many the firstime around. So, that leaves milions thinking he coudn't have served a second BECAUSE it would have been Al Gore as prezzie the firstime. :raging:

God bless the Iranians

Iran is a peaceful nation. Who have they invaded in recent years? I cannot think of anyone! Yet we Brits have attacked Iraq, Afghanistan and whomever else the US tell us to.

Iran is a peaceful yet strong and proud nation. They have a strong and admirable leader.....

Iraq 1979-88
Iraq 2003 to current
Afganistan 2002 to current
Themselves if you count killing Kurds...continuously.

Thats it though. ( i diddnt add the tanker war cos that would have involved too many countries...just shooting at any ship they wanted no matter what nation.)

Just 50+ Million the first time. More than voted for Clinton in his first election (substanitally). So don't give me that inane line about liking Americans but disliking the government. What you dislike is the success and power of the United States. Instead, you are a cheerleader for Iran, the pristine power behind hostage taking in Lebanon, behind Hezbollah, behind the mining of the Persian Gulf, behind the recent Holocost deniers conference. Great bunch there.

I like underdogs too, but the Iranians hide behind proxies. They are cowards...or pragmatists (take your pick). You back your horse if you want. I'll take Secretariat.

Bull! - Your country didn't have a president during the vote count (it was being fixed by his family member in Florida) The world knows it and so do the americans. Even Al Gore said it. What a great chap he was/is.

As for backing. Well I hate to see people being told what to do by those that think they are better. So yes, i'll back Iran until the US/UK get of their high horse.
