Good thread, have been on a diet for a month and a half monitoring my calories and cutting back (pretty large calorie deficit) alhamdulillah dropped about 6.5kg in a month and a half (80kg now).
Also I should add this, doing cardio/exercise isn't essential for losing weight. It would just aid in you being in a calorie deficit (e.g. you eat like a bowl of cereal, you exercise for 15mnts and burn off those calories, therefore your calorie intake for the day goes back to 0). So what I've learnt just focus on being in a 500 calorie deficit. (I haven't been properly monitoring my calories but cut back severely on coke/pepsi and junk food. (with each meal I used to drink abotu 500mL chilled pepsi, that's all changed, I can do about 800mL water with a meal, I just love water lol); water helps with losing weight.
