I think it is best to buy the books if you can afford it. It costs money to produce these books and it will help the author and publishers too if you pay for them instead.

Agreed! We have to support them!
I have Most of my favorite books as hard copies and pdf files as well. If such great books are already available online and also free of charge then we need to spread such unique books so everyone can share the benefit.
 
^ Or we can spread the message of these books online by writing a summary/small version of it...like a review.
