Frustrations in getting married

duno y i don't feel its right to recite quran just because you want something...

Assalamu-alaikum Ukthi,

Allah (subhanawataá'la) loves for us to turn to Him whenever we are in need.
If we do not turn to our Rabb and Creator, who else is there to turn to?

“Is He [not best] who responds to the desperate one when he calls upon Him…” (Qur’an, 27:62)

"And when My servants ask you, [O Muhammad], concerning Me - indeed I am near. I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls upon Me. So let them respond to Me [by obedience] and believe in Me that they may be [rightly] guided." (2:186)

Allah Taa'la dearly loves His servants turning in supplication towards Him.

No matter how many times......from the smallest request to the biggest (as long as it is for something that is permissible).
He never tires of hearing the duaas of each and every one of us.

In fact, those who do not turn to Him in need, is a means of His displeasure:

"And your Lord says, "Call upon Me; I will respond to you." Indeed, those who disdain My worship will enter Hell [rendered] contemptible." (40:60)

Remember, how often we read the following in each rakaat of every salaah:

Thee (alone) we worship; Thee (alone) we ask for help. (1:4)

There is no one else to turn to, if not to the one who is Al-Mujeeb - the Responder, the one who answers the pleas of His servants.

My sister, whatever is in your taqdeer, will come to you.
Allah (subhanawatáalas) plan is truly the Best for us, so tell your family there is no need to despair : )

Just be patient - the best rewards are to those who patiently persevere, never lose hope and, turn to Him in supplication. : )

Salaam

jazakAllah kayr sis

buh don't u think its wrong to pray to Allah just because u want something n then once u got that thing u totally forget Allah and stop praying etc ive seen ppl do tht its very common i just don't want to do tht i don't want to pray for something n then forget Allah n be ungrateful...

^Still better to pray to Allah ukhti. It just proves that no matter how bad we are, how neglectful, it is Allah alone we need and ask to rectify our affairs. A bad believer is still better than a disbeliever. And it could be that by turning to Allah alone, Allah will give hidayah in return and the bad muslim will become a good muslim.

I know... It's a case of 'chor nalon pand kahli' I hope you can understand that Punjabi phrase. It means the sack is more desperate than the thief. LOL!

Nah,i dont understand Punjabi :( but that was interesting :)

You are truly like a horrible dream for the old aunties and when you are fixed, they congratulate you like you have found a treasure :hmm: even the cousins abroad call to congratulate :-[

I found an interesting video.

It contains music, but you can mute it and read the text.

And to think that I used to wish for an arranged marriage for myself. Because then even a goon like me would be guaranteed somebody... :hmm:

I really hate weddings & judging from those I attended including my sister's there's virtually always a fight or a disaster waiting to happen-- Why can't people just get a couple of witnesses and get it over and done with? Spend that money on a honeymoon or vacation or just to move out of their parent's house.. Is it me or do any other sisters here find it absurd. I know they often foster the idea of how a girl dreams of her wedding day all her life.. I have always thought the whole thing was just a sham.. Pay loads of money to feed people you don't know or like who will criticize something anyway and talk about you in a way that has no semblance of hayaa.
If you're a shy person I really don't know how you'd reconcile that with your personal disposition...
What's proper Islamic etiquette in this case and please forgive that I don't wish to browse all 39 pages... Can't you delegate a wali to do the marriage contract before witnesses on your behalf and not be present for any part of it?

I had a fight with my sister on her wedding day, she in turn had a fight with her husband, we showed up two hours late because of it lol.. it was on a day that she didn't want, she was actually working on the day of her wedding if you can believe that, the women we postponed the wedding for had a rift with others so they didn't even show up, they were so thoughtless and callous and I had to spend the day catering to some woman who wanted to capture it on video when there was already a professional person to do that but I didn't wish to be impolite.. Can you imagine looking back and only remembering that.. It is just not worth it. Heard comments from the old broads about things I don't wish to repeat really and then everyone is so in your business I am telling you walhi if you can avoid like the plague.. I know the way it looks on TV is so lovely dress, cake and you're a princess but the reality is far from it. You're already starting thousands behind because you spent at least and I really mean at least if you're living in the west a hundred dollar per plate (that doesn't cover the other stuff).. and even if the money weren't an issue and it really should be, because frankly there's no point feeding a bunch of cynics when you can feed starving people.. I understand the whole concept of ish'har and what not but why did it have to evolve to these spectacles we say today?

:haha: I was a little exasperated there, remembering the lady with the video camera as she did that to me in a subsequent wedding and I declined and then she ratted me out to my dad she also made me carry her mini fold-able chair every where so she can seat herself wherever the excitement was at -- Am I allowed to hate an old Muslim lady? :hmm: ..
Ish'har is having witnesses letting people know..
