There we met men who, half of their bodies, look
like the most-handsome human beings you have ever seen, and the other half, the ugliest human beings you have ever seen.

Those two visitors said to those men, 'Go and dip yourselves in that river. So they dipped themselves
therein and then came to us, their ugliness having disappeared and they were in the most-handsome shape.

The visitors said, 'The first is the Garden of Eden and that is your dwelling place.' Then they added, 'As for those people who were half ugly and half handsome, they were those who mixed good deeds and bad deeds, but Allah forgave them."

The Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: "The first of those who shall enter Paradise are the people who do acts of kindnesses." [Tibrani]

This story comes to us through the Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) that there was once a prostitute in the tribe of the Bani Israil. She passed by a dog going around a well about to die of thirst. So she took off her shoe and, tying it to her head wrap, lowered it into the well to get some water for the dog. Because of this one act of kindness, Allah (subhana wa ta'ala) forgave her her sins.

This shows us not only Allah’s love for humans and how He loves to forgive us, but also His love for all His creatures. Prophet Muhammad (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) told us that we are rewarded for every act of kindness we do to any creature. Every time a bird eats from your fruit tree you are rewarded by Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) for that too.

Hazrat Umar bin Al-Khattab (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said, "Verily, Allah elevates some people with this Qur’an and abases others.”

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: It was asked, "O Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) ! Who is the most honourable amongst mankind?” He [SAWW](PBUH) said, "The most honourable of them is one who is the most pious of them.” They said, "We are not asking about this". He said, "Then, the most honourable of men was Yusuf (Joseph), the Prophet of Allah, the son of Allah’s Prophet, who was the son of the Prophet of Allah, who was the son of the Khalil of Allah (i.e., Ibrahim (PBUH))’ They said, "We are not asking you about this.” He enquired, "Are you then asking me about the classes of the Arabs? The best of them in the Pre-Islamic Period of Ignorance are the best of them in Islam, provided they comprehend the religious knowledge".

Bismillah Walhamdulillah Was Salaatu Was Salaam 'ala Rasulillah

As-Salaam Alaikum Wa-Rahmatullahi Wa-Barakatuhu

30th Rabi al-Thani 1434 (12th March 2013)

Narrated Abu Said Al-Khudri (Radi-Allahu 'anhu):

Allah's Apostle (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) said, "On the Day of Resurrection Death will be brought forward in the shape of a black and white ram.

Then a call maker will call, 'O people of Paradise!' Thereupon
they (the people) will stretch their necks and look carefully. The caller will say, 'Do you know this?'

They will say, 'Yes, this is Death.'

By then all of them will have seen it. Then it will be announced again, 'O people of Hell!'

They will stretch their necks and look carefully. The caller will
say, 'Do you know this?' They will say, 'Yes, this is Death.' And by then all of them will have seen it.

Then it (that ram) will be slaughtered and the caller will say, 'O people of Paradise! Eternity for you and no death.

O people of Hell! Eternity for you and no death."'

Then the Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam), recited:--

'And warn them of the Day of distress when the case has been decided, while (now) they are in a state of carelessness (i.e. the people of the world) and they do not believe.' (19.39)
