See what are doing your father friends with their daughter. Thats can be a strong point against marriage. A man will never consent to be smaller than his friends. Like my girl study and yours...

i thought you were afraid of a forced marriage in yemen.
in the u.s. it is different. you said you're an american citizen - they cannot force you to get married at 16.
tell them you want to get married, but not yet. first you want to go after your dream, which is to get an education and become a doctor. then work your butt off in school to prove how important it is to you.
there is no reason you should end up like a sack of potatoes married off to some drunk in detroit!
as far as i can tell, your only "crime" is that you want a future. sometimes you have to work like crazy to get what you want.
keep in mind - your younger sister is paying attention to all this - you can't give up.

Yeh tania, they look at his brothers and friends that married there girls off at like 13, 14+ , and they say "Look at them, see how they are, unlike u" and when i actually talk to the girls they start cursing there husbands and saying there life is horrible.

and snakelegs, if i have citizenship what will that do? They can't force me, but they can keep using something against me for the rest of the time.
i went down in school....then read some here, and went back up. but i doubt its ever going to pay off. juss forget it, nothin really matters , i juss go there way anyway.
i keep everything inside me, they think am fine, i am, nothing wrong, we talk....ok acutally everytime we do it ends up in marriage conversation :raging:

and jannat. i can barely concentrate in prayer, yeh shaitan is good. the second u say "Allahu akbar" he enters ur mind and starts making u remember crazy things that happened during the day, or what u will do later, or stuff like that, and when u say "Assalamu alikom wa rahmatullah" he leaves. Dude seriously, people have it waaaay worse. I say don't let life take over you rather, take over life. If your dad doesn't care about your grades, well become something REALLY good. Or go to a really nice college or go on a scholar ship. You said you don't even try but imagine what you can do if you DO try. You can shove everything you've achieved in your dad's face. My mom or dad will joke around as well when they tell me I should get married early. It's not like they REALLY mean it. They're not gonna force you, trust me.

Just breath, take a chill pill and do what you know is right.
