well my absolute most favourite number 1 recitor is Abdul Muhsin al-Qasim. he has such a long breathe and fast speed, mashaAllah.
and then Thubaity, Huthaify and Maahir are equal 2nd.

how bout u? i noticed alot of ppl on this thread go crazy of sudais and shuraim, lol. does any one else like Abdul Muhsin al-Qasim?

yes that true because Sudais has such emotion to his recitation and I just noticed this ramadan how Shuraim (my favourite now) has such power in his recition it makes me want to know what the words mean, thats why i love reading the subtitles

Inshallah you are all well - a belated Eid Mabrook to you all (sorry I only got back from Umrah today)!!

Wizra Ukhra - I also like Mohsin Al Qasim - he is a very good recitor - but from my experience in Madina Munnawarah this year Shaykh Salah Budair is in a league of his own - did anyone listen to his yaseen - when he started crying after reading..."wamtazul yawma ayuhal mujrimoon..." it was electric in the mosque everyone was crying!

I was blessed enough to spend some time with Shaykh Saleh bin Humaid this year I used to visit him after Fajr! Speaks excellent english mashallah! Also Shaykh Shuraim in his office in Babul Fath after traweeh - he is amazing!

By the way, they have changed the gate the imams use now it used to be king abdul aziz gate palace entrance but they have built a bridge there now instead they use the entrance opposite Babul Ajyad now - its just round the corner from the original gate they used to use. Its easy to spot it as there are armed guards there!

Inshallah will be going hajj this year - only 8 weeks to go until I return - cant wait.

In Makkah,its Sheikh Salih ibn Humayd, and in Madinah its Sheikh Husayn bin Abdul-Aziz Ale Shaykh.

Shaykh Budayr is with Shaykh Saaqir al Qaasimi, ruler of Ras al Khaimah. Shaykh Shuraim is with him as well. I don't know much about when though or who Shaykh Saaqir is.

i was at a relatives house as well. and they just got a new comp. so i was worried that there wasn't going to be any sound on their new computer, because i was worried that they hadn't bought speakers yet. it turns out i didn't have access to the net!! one whole week without taraweeh and tahjjud. i was gutted!! one whole week! i couldnt wait to get back home. at times i remebered sh shuraims tunes from the recitation of surat at-taubah were he broke down and cried, and the tahjjud dua a few years back. they're are different tunes from his usual. not good. i have a lot of catching up to do as well.
word of advice, make sure you keep your mind occupied, otherwise, post ramadan blues might hit you hard.

i want Sheikh Shuraim to do fajr as welll.......and i want Shiekh Sudais to do Maghrib and Isha, like how it was back in the days.........to be honest, i acutally just wanted Shiekh Shuraim and Sudais to do taraweeh, like in 1425 so that one day Sheikh Sudais does the Qunoot Dua, and the other day Sheikh Shuraim does it. But Alhamdulillah, despite it not being compiled by my wish, Taraweeh and Tahajjud both in Makkah and Madina were Masha'Allah excellent and gave new surprises like Shiekh Mahir's excellent recitation though i must admit it was my first year watching them live and being interested in it. However, without Ramadan, it feels like all the noor, patience and happiness is gone. May Allah bless us with another beautiful Ramadan, though this time in Makkah

me too i never paid attention to shiekh Mahir until he came to Makkah and Masha'Allah he has an amazing recitation. by the way, will there be a high quality audio version of Surah A'raf (recited in Tahajjud this year) available? Both Shiekh Shuraim and Shiekh Sudais, reicted it beautifully and very emotionally. Masha'Allah it is one my favorite recitaitons this year

lol I can't exactly relate, I just put all the recitations on my MP3

you mean like an ipod. well i took my discaman with me, and plugged in a CD a couple times. that was the best i could do.
