According to this video it seemed to be pretty bad for the IDF soldiers. Mob of guys beating soldiers as they board one by one, one of them is even thrown overboard or to a lower deck.

I know its Israeli video by idfnadesk but parts of it has been seen on different angles on videos recorded by people on board the freedom flotilla, like on the video on the following link starting around 30 seconds when they attack the IDF members coming from up.

Im not entirely sure I can judge it so easily what would have been appropriate response to such violence but I can understand why overwhelmed soldiers could open fire in such situation.
According to international humanitarian law it doesnt seem to. Courtesy of Red Cross.

First quote is to show that this law is valid in the high seas aka international waters
The people on the flotilla clearly declared they were going to go to and later journeyed towards and approached the Gaza strip. I dont think its unreasonable for Israel to believe that they are going to breach the blockade.
Seems like this is new for you.
Unfortunately they've stooped that low many times before.
Israel has killed in the past cameramen, reporters, civilians, peace activists, in fact anyone within firing/bulldozing range that tries to portray the truth of their atrocities.
eg see THIS link as just one example.
And THIS one.

Still, the Israelis claim that the first Israeli soldiers to enter the ship were attacked with knives and clubs ... and there is video evidence to support the claim.
(BTW, I am not saying that the Israeli action was justified - neither the way they entered the ship in the first place, nor the force with which they reacted to being attacked. But the initial physical attacks appear to have come from those on the ship ... :hmm![]()
That quote of international law was completely out of place and the claim related to it invalid as you simply quoted the wrong law. It is so because this was an extract from international law applicable to armed conflicts at sea, not about starting these conflicts, neither about attacking an unarmed humanitarian aid vessel. Also, the claims you made indicate that it's important to note that knives and metal poles do not make a ship an "armed vessel".
Let's better have a look at United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, that has more to do with this incident, especially its part VII which articles decare the following.
Article 87: Freedom of the high seas. That includes freedom of navigation (a).
Article 88: Reservation of the high seas for peaceful purposes. The high seas shall be reserved for peaceful purposes.
Article 89. No State may validly purport to subject any part of the high seas to its sovereignty.
Source
Israel clearly violated these articles by attacking a humanitarian aid vessel in the high seas.
You are from Finland, of course you are going to support your fellow Zionazi brothers, it doesn't surprise me. Why don't you go to some anti-Islam site where you belong?
I like to discuss with people who have different opinion than I. Sorry if that offends you but there is no need to try to insult me or Finland.
Naval operations in an armed conflict including the stopping of shipping weapons to one participant in a war via sea isnt armed conflict at sea? Just because Israel has complete superiority and Hamas is in a position where they are unable to do anything else than to try to rush ships to and from Gaza it isnt armed conflict at sea? What exactly is then armed conflict at sea?

Give me an authentic source where it says that those ships were carrying weapons. Try to look for sources before you speak again. People like you are ignorant, no matter what Israel does, you will be at its feet saying "We are here for you at your service, master" Freaking Idiots.
^^ I remember him from some other forums in the past, he is your typical brainwashed Muslim hater, or in other words: typical westerner. I know there are some good people in the West but they are a minority. The majority are extremely pro-Israel and pro U.S; the warmongers and biggest violaters of international law. This is undeniable, I'm not offending anyone, it's the truth.
I'm sick and tired of such people, they even insult us in our ISLAMIC FORUMS. Their hatred and animosity knows no boundaries!
