FYI, 90% of my Chinese friends dont know how to read Chinese...and about 10% of them dont even know how to speak Chinese...:D

Both my parents can speak Chinese too (Mum - Hokkien, Dad - Mandarin) but they dont know how to read Chinese too...

heck...we can even differentiate a Japanese, a Korean and a Chinese physically....just by looking at their heights and skin colours...

could you expand on that, I've heard this before and the guy said the eyes made the difference:). he european though...

But isn't that what they learn in all of those SJK(C)'s all over the place?

And are your parents Chinese? :?

I signed up for Mandarin classes but the lady took 4 months to get back to me, and by that time I was like fuh-gettitt :blind:

I dont have any friends who studied in SRJK(C).... maybe because they only mingle among themselves....

Both of my parents are non-Chinese (but we look like one:D)...most of my parents colleagues are Chinese....and they managed to pick up the language.

My younger sister attended Mandarin class in IIUM years ago ...when she was crazy about anything "Taiwan".

And the youngest sister (an anime fan) is learning Japanese a lil bit.
