Good Companions Are a Mercy

For the new Muslim, kind companions can ease the path greatly. A sincere friend who encourages prayer, patience, and remembrance of Allah is a blessing from Him. Good company can make the journey feel lighter, and loneliness less heavy.

Faith often grows better in good company. The heart is strengthened when it is surrounded by those who remind it of its Lord. A few words of encouragement, a shared prayer, or even quiet companionship can become a source of great mercy. Sometimes Allah sends support through people in ways that feel small but carry lasting goodness — a gentle reminder, a welcoming smile, a patient answer, or someone simply sitting beside you while you learn.

At the same time, good companions do not need to be perfect; they only need to point you toward what is good. The best of friends help you remember Allah, return to Him when you forget, and feel hopeful when your own heart feels tired. Such companionship is not just comfort for this world, but a means of nearness to Allah.

So ask Allah for righteous companions, and value those who help you draw near to Him. The people who make you more mindful of Allah are among the best gifts you can receive. Guard those blessings, make du’a for them, and be that same mercy for someone else when you can.

Your Pace Is Between You and Allah

Some new Muslims learn quickly. Others need more time. Some feel settled at once, while others move through questions, adjustments, and emotions that only Allah fully understands. Every path is different, and Allah knows the path He has written for you.

Do not compare your beginning with another person’s. Your sincerity is not measured by speed. What matters is not how fast you seem to be moving, but how honestly you are turning to Allah with the heart you have today. Faith is not a race. The heart does not bloom at the same time for everyone. Some hearts open gently, little by little, as they are watered by patience, prayer, and trust in Allah.

There may be days when you feel behind, but you are not behind in the sight of Allah if you are still trying to come closer to Him. A slow step taken sincerely can be far more beloved than a hurried one taken without presence of heart. Allah sees what people cannot see. He knows your intention, your struggle, your effort, and the quiet strength it takes to keep going when you feel uncertain.

You do not need to become everything at once. You do not need to know every answer today. Some of us need cue cards, repetition, or a little extra time to remember things clearly — and Allah understands that too. What Allah asks of you is not perfection, but sincerity. Keep learning. Keep asking. Keep repenting. Keep returning. Even if your steps are small, they are still steps toward Allah, and nothing sincere is ever wasted with Him.

So be gentle with yourself. Let your journey unfold with patience. Trust that Allah is guiding you with wisdom, mercy, and love. Your pace is not a flaw. Your pace is part of your path.
