But the important consideration in military strategy is to avoid reinforcing failure and concentrate on what you can do, within the existing resources and capabilities. Its always better to restrict to the main objective. Too many objectives create confusion and lead to clash of priorities, besides resulting in dissipation of resources. One has the flexibility of exercising various ways and means, provided they ultimately converge at the main objective.
