I think our letters should be nice and long because this sister will be spending a lot of time up in jail, and in case she needs upliftment, she can refer to our letters (insha'allah)... Maybe we can try makin her laugh or something.... I'm not good with comin up with good ideas....

:sl: warahmatulahi wabarakatuh.

jazak Allah khayr ery1.. u know instead of just normal letters it would be alot more powerful if you writ down ayahs from the qur'an too with the english translation. this way it would build up on her imaan aswell as her feelin less lonely. maybe it would be alot more easier for sisters from america to do it cz it mite be cheaper?

if anyone needs any ayahs regarding situations like these - we can all search around and insha Allah type them up on here and you can write them in your letters.. it would also be preferable to do it in handwriting because its more personal that way which makes the person feel more closer than just typing printouts. you could even send her envelopes and postage stamps so she could reply back? barak Allah u feekum and if anyone has any more ideas please post them up. jazak Allah khayr.

PS. sister aalimah that is a good idea - putting funny comments and nothin offensive will make the sister feel better too insha Allah. just make sure its nothin which mite offend the kafir cz they probably will read it before she can..

wasalam o 'alykum warahmatulahi wabarakatuh.

yeah , people in jail are so excited when they get some letters ..I have to agree you presuade me

Ok I got two ayahs so far in my letter:

one that's in my sig:

"Allah has purchased from the faithful their lives and worldly goods, and in return has promised them the Garden. They will fight for the cause of Allah, they will slay, and be slain."(9:111)

And this:

and never give up hope of Allah's Soothing Mercy: truly no one despairs of Allah's Soothing Mercy, except those who have no faith."
(12:87)

masha Allah good quotes! but do you think they'll be suitable or do you think they'll allow it if they read through the letters first before passing them on?

maybe if we just writ:

"Allah has purchased from the faithful their lives and worldly goods, and in return has promised them the Garden..."

i know its dumb of uz to bak off.. but she might not be able to get the letter or they might destroy it if they read the remainder of that. the 2nd ones good 2 jazak Allah khayr.

Allah (swt) knows best.

041.049 Man does not weary of asking for good (things), but if ill touches him, he gives up all hope (and) is lost in despair.

018.046 Wealth and sons are allurements of the life of this world: But the things that endure, good deeds, are best in the sight of thy Lord, as rewards, and best as (the foundation for) hopes.

Got this from: http://www.islam-usa.com/e80.htm

The remedy for dejection is hope. God made hopelessness unlawful by saying, "Do not despair of God's mercy." Thus, no matter at what level of despair, depression and frustration we are, whether loss of a loved one or a job, or as the result of anger from someone else, we must not give up hope as there is a ray of hope at the end of the tunnel. The greatest hope is mercy from God.

Thus, whoever has lost worldly possessions, expects and hopes that God will replace his losses in a better way. The.he person who has lost a dear one hopes to see that dear one in the life hereafter.

Hope is the medicine which keeps one alive and going, which is when we say, hang on, we mean hang onto the thread of hope. It is not unnatural to be sad over situations and events. Even Prophet Mohammed (Pbuh) used to be sad, looking at the plight of Unbelievers and their rejection of his message for oneness of God, and not becoming Muslims. And God reminded him by saying, "It is not your duty to make them Muslims, but just proclaim the truth, and God gives guidance to those whom He wishes."

During dejection, there is darkness, but in hope, there is light. Therefore, one must pray for this light to illuminate the heart so that we can see beyond what is causing the suffering today. If I knew that I would not see tomorrow, I might get depressed, but the fact that I hope I will see tomorrow with all its goodness, the love of my family, my friends, dear ones, the flowers, that I go to sleep in peace, turning myself to God. We must pray for God's mercy and forgiveness so that we can love and forgive ourselves and God's other creations and have peace with ourselves, our Creator and our surroundings.

We Muslims believe that all our suffering, failures and adversities are nothing but a test from God, who has said that "You will not enter Paradise until you are tested. " He has also said, "Be sure we will test you with something of fear and hunger, a small loss in wealth and lives and the fruits (of your labors), but give glad tidings to those who patiently persevere, when afflicted with calamities, to God we belong and to Him shall we return."' (Chapter 2:15, 5-157).

With a little paraphrasing, I think some of the sisters who are writing can use the information in that....

wow subhan Allah! masha Allah! thats really deep.. keep in mind that this can be the part to support the sis but its better to have something personal in it too so the sister feels as if shes having one to one contact with another sister instead of just reading a article. please can you delete the above part regarding music cz thats not allowed in islam.. and one of the reasons its better to give the sister envelopes and postage stamps is so she can reply back.. so she can take that feeling of guilt out of her, and so she can share her opinions on how she feels about it. but if one cant do that - then its alot better that the person constantly does keep sending her letters or else a person starts feelin more and more alone.. the reason why its good to send ayahs is cz they have alot of depth and she can look over them with tafsir (more in depth translation) and she can try to practice that. plz remember her bail is worth $500,000. and that is really expensive, and we still have time. if we pray for her from our hearts somethin good and positive can come out of this because (i think) she hasnt been sentenced yet. jazak Allah khayr..

Whoa, I guess I skipped the music part.... I'll delete it insha'allah...

Don't worry, I'll be sure to give her my address, and number, but that's if they allow people to call one another there...

the reason why its good to send ayahs is cz they have alot of depth and she can look over them with tafsir (more in depth translation) and she can try to practice that.

I'm trying to find as many uplifting ayahs as possible, but its kinda tough... Hopefully I'll find them, insha'allah...

Man, if she hasn't been sentenced yet, then I'd better take out all that talk of jail from the letter... And Ramadan's right around the corner, PERFECT time to make du'aa, insha'allah all the members on LI will pray for her too...

I wonder what they'll do next time someone tries to defend herself, give her the death penalty I suppose....

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

So sad.. I hope things work out well for her soon inshaAllah. There is little information about what really happened (why she was in atlantic city and why she would hide the body although there is a possibility that she was scared to go out in public with what she did). Besides one other site says her name is HAILA and not hala. Does anyone have any idea when this happened? I have a feeling the reason she got the prison term may have to do with why she hid the murder. I wonder how CAIR was not involved in this. Also I have no clue how her family didnt do anything. So sad, the least we can do is pray for her inshaAllah.

:sl: warahmatulahi wabarakatuh.

its like if you put yourself in the situation - you wouldn't really leave the dead body on the bed. the reason for this is so you dont seem like a murderer, its a natural human instinct and if another person saw it later - they wouldn't come up with the whole story that the dead person was a rapist but their first response would be that a murder just took place.

so the sister needed enough time to escape without getting any sort of attention from anyone so she could go as far as possible (keep in mind she was in shock because she had just been assaulted really bad.. and shes only 17) - she never even had proper family because she only had a foster mother and her foster mother was in a casino and hala was travelling to meet up with her foster mother again..

please brothers and sisters - pray for her and that we all get guided.. and that we all can enter jannah al fardaus. this sister will have to stay in prison for 50years or a bail of $500,000 which is alot. any sisters who can post to her - that would be really greatful. but if we cant do nothin like that please just pray for all of our muslim brothers and sisters and if this life isn't easy - if we have faith, then insha Allah the akhirah will be..

wasalam o 'alykum warahmatulahi wabarakatuh.
