As Salam Alykum
I had a question about learning arabic grammar. I bought Medinah University grammar books. Is there an easy way to understand the new vocabulary from each lesson? How do non arabic speakers memorize the words?
Jazkallah khair

The best way to learn all those words is to make sentences of your own with them, it really sticks that way and naturally get someone to mark them for you. Puttin them in a list type of thing is also good with the english translation besides it. That way you can get someone to test you and if you've still not memorised them you can always write more sentences

the Nahw book we use is writing in Urdu...at first it was sooo cofusing, I used to hate it...but Alhamdulilah now that we have finished it, i love it. doing Tarkeeb in the Qur'an is so easy now. For sarf, we use Miftahul Sarf. For me, Sarf has always been easier than Nahw.

salams everyone

im back_______ ok who wants help? sarf nahw.just bring it on..

make Du'a for me plz, I have Nahw and Sarf test in two weeks.

Oh Allah, please make it rain and snow in April and make them close the roads so I don't have to drive all the way to the Madrasah to take the test. Ameen. :D

mashaAllah sis where do you go to madrasa?
are you all learning nahw on your own or with a teacher?

The medina books are my favorite books mashaAllah, it makes it easy for someone to even use the books and teach themselves without a teacher. To study the vocab i started out making flashcards. then i got the hang of memorizing the words. sometimes i think of something that sounds similar or reminds me of the words... like make a connection. it helps in making things easier! :D

sister Talibatul Ilm,
I live in Atlanta. Alhamdulilah we have a small Madrasah here, and we have an Alimah as our teacher. Inshallah, by the end of next Ramadan we should have the construction of our main Madrasah building complete, so more students will join us. rite now, its only 3 of us, two students only come twice a week. so most of the time its my teacher and myself.
make Du'a for me.

hey come on some1` must have a question!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:raging:

If a word had Baa preceding it what would be the end symbol fatha kasra or dhamma? As in Bil-Ayn would it be Bil-Ayna Bil-Ayni or Bil-Aynu?
P.S This question is for the benefit of others I know the answer =)

please explain about Tasghir. This is the definition I have in my book: "The diminutive form is used to denote smallness in size or quantity or denote a low status or insignificance or to express endearment. "
examples would be great, especially from the Qur'an.

quickly people, I've a got test coming up. Jazakallah Khair.

are you just asking for examples or a clearer understanding of the definition?

well for examples sorry i cannot provide anything from the Qur'an at the moment.

but as an example: RAJUL [man] is in the normal state
when saying something like LITTLE MAN, SMALL MAN RAJUL would become RUJAYLUN as according to rule. the rules differ according to the number of letters in the word or if it contains an alif, waw, or ya in it.

JA3FAR [the name] would become JU3AYFIRUN

this would probably be easier if seen in arabic text... =/

ok as for a new question:

Name at least 3 different categories of words that are used in the femanine form [i.e. like a word denoting femanine gender UKHT, UMM... or Names of various types of winds are in the femanine form]

try for 3 inshaAllah =) or it can be done as a group effort as well!
