Physics Corner

Re: Physics corner!!

:sl:

Physics is hard, way harder then AS Maths.....

I would disagree with this statement, since Physics and Maths resemble each other in certain areas, and one helps to accomplish the other.

If you don't feel confident in Maths, then Physics would allow you to study the science aspect of the Math, whereas Maths would obviously concentrate on that aspect only.

All in all, it could be said that the two are equally difficult, but they're not so difficult that its impossible to succeed. All subjects are difficult, and some have a reputation for being more harder than they actually are.

May Allaah help us all in our education,

True Brother.:coolious:
I mean, u have to take note of all these formulas and slot in the correct information (load of numbers) to get the answer. It is difficult, but nothing is easy until u make it easy for urself.

Ameen to the dua!!

I really need help with pysics assigment. I have a passage that a student has written and I must check it for errors and correct them.

Could anyone help? I wont put the passage up until sum1 says that they can help.

Re: Physics corner!!

physics and maths are really awesome

I just cannot even begin to describe how they help you later on in life with small to huge problems

LEARN and memorize those formulas - they REALLY come in handy!

Re: Physics corner!!

without physics we wouldnt be on this board right now or using our PC's....so beware o'mockers of physics
lol

Calm down brother. I do physics too but ur just......a bit toooo much in love with physics.

Its ony a subject bro...its only a subject.

Re: Physics corner!!

AHA! But sis - im not in love with physics...however none of us can deny the importance of physics!

It touches our lives in nearly every aspect - from going to the toilet to driving our cars! Physics is involved!

You may ask: How going to the toilet physics is involved?
The answer is: Look at the shape and symmetry of the toilet bowl - PHYSICS
Look at the sink and the plumbing system - PHYSICS!
Look at the mirror - PHYSICS!!

so there :P

Re: Physics corner!!

actually i stole that argument from mt politics teacher from college....

one day he came to class and said out loud "politics touches everything, even us going to the toilet"

and everyone was like "huh?"

and then he used the same arguments only with the political twist on it.

so...ur bringing politics in my physics corner.....do u know wat that mean? Shall I tell u?

it means....ur going OFF TOPIC!!!!!

*ahem*:playing:

Re: Physics corner!!

well politics and physics are very closely related because
1. they both start with a P
2. they are both english words
3. they go hand in hand - without politics there wouldnt be funding for physics and without physics there wouldnt be newer issues for politicians to discuss!

So we are on topic!

Guys i am delighted we muslims had the initiative to start an educational thread. We are seriously neglecting it, and many youths dont understand the importance of it. Clearly allah has stressed in the quran that knowledge is the core of islam and a true muslim. So wats my reply about???????? its to thank u .
Jazakallahu khairan.

PS could some one make a jazakallahkhairun smile in arabic pls!!!!!! it would be really helpful

Re: Physics corner!!

cud sum1 plz help me with sum homework?

I have to analyse the passage for ANY errors and then I have to correct them:-\

I have sum idea of which are the errors. But, I really want to get good marks....So, cud sum1 (basically) give me the answers so I can check my work?

Here is the passage:

All waves require a medium to travel in. Waves carry the medium from place tp place. The hieght of the crest of the wave or the depth of the trough is the amplitude. The distance between two crests is the wavelength. The number of waves per second is the frequency.
KHALAS!! phew!

JazakAllah soooo much!!!

Re: Physics corner!!

:sl:

All waves require a medium to travel in
Not all waves. There are two types of waves (well .. when categorised into those that need a medium to travel in and those that dont.), electromagnetic and mechanical waves.EM waves can travel through a vacuum.Mechanical waves however need a medium to travel through

Waves carry the medium from place tp place.
Waves don't carry the medium from place to place. Mechanical waves need a medium to travel through. eg: Sound waves and air, where air is the medium sound waves use to travel through.

The hieght of the crest of the wave or the depth of the trough is the amplitude.
Believe so.

The distance between two crests is the wavelength.
Yes, the 'horizontal' distance. I think, in general the wavelength of a wave is the distance between the same point on two consecutive waves.

The number of waves per second is the frequency
Yes. Oscillations per second in general.

Please dont take my answers as fact, im merely a student as well (who tends to get it all wrong :dontcare: )!

Re: Physics corner!!

:sl:

wow!! MashAllah. JazakAllah brother.

Okay, I got the following:

All waves require a medium to travel in

Not travel in but travel through it

I bet thats wrong!:playing:

Waves carry the medium from place tp place.

I didnt have answer for that one.:playing:

The hieght of the crest of the wave or the depth of the trough is the amplitude.

Nope! That one is def. wrong. I have the answer to that one n my textbook.:playing:

The distance between two crests is the wavelength.

Wahoo! We both got the same for that one.

The number of waves per second is the frequency
Ill jus take ur answer for that one.lol.:playing:

JazakAllah sooooo much brother.
I can finally concentrate on my revision for the test on waves for wednesday.:-\

The hieght of the crest of the wave or the depth of the trough is the amplitude.

Nope! That one is def. wrong. I have the answer to that one n my textbook.:playing:
Im [relatively] sure the height of the crest is the amplitude. In fact:

The crest of a wave is the point on the medium which exhibits the maximum amount of positive or upwards displacement

The amplitude of a wave refers to the maximum amount of displacement of a a particle on the medium from its rest position. In a sense, the amplitude is the distance from rest to crest.

ie: The amplitude is the height of the crest, in other words, from the horizontal x-axis to the very top of a wave.

Not travel in but travel through it

I bet thats wrong!
To me it seems the same thing is being said.'Through' however, would probably better describe what is happening.
